Basic Gravel Racing Tips from 2019 Land Run 100

https://www.evoq.bike/blog/gravel-racing-training-tips  email me: Brendan@EVOQ.BIKE  The big difference with a gravel race is that there’s NO COASTING. Or, way less of it than most of us are used to from road racing. Gravel takes the difficulty up a notch. For gravel race you need to be able to consistently pedal a bike for a very long time. Many of these races are 100 miles or more, so you really need a 100 mile gravel training plan. Remember, your training needs to reflect the demands of your racing, and we’ll get to why it’s not just going to be a sweet spot group ride out there! Cue VO2Max work!

Cycling Training Through Coronavirus - Don't Revert To Base

https://www.evoq.bike/blog/training-through-coronavirus I saw A LOT of posts on Strava saying, “BACK TO BASE” and “No point in training” due to the race cancellations and coronavirus. I strongly urge you to continue with your normal training cycle, as I bet we are back to racing within 8 weeks. I would NOT go back to base training or general overload training by simply riding a ton; read on as to why. Brendan@EVOQ.BIKE

Increase Your FTP and Get Dropped; Wait, What?

https://www.evoq.bike/blog/improve-cycling-ftp-or-get-faster Yes, increasing your FTP could make you slower in a race or group if that’s all you work on. I looked up what the most searched terms are when it comes to FTP. As you can guess, the list looks a lot like this:   How To Improve My Cycling FTP Increase Cycling FTP What is a Good FTP Cycling TrainerRoad FTP Increase Realistic FTP Gains 2 x 20 FTP Intervals   Increase FTP by 50 Watts You get the point.   Looking to increase your cycling FTP? Great idea!    Just be aware that this doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a faster BIKE RACER or ready for the GROUP RIDE when you try to drop your friends in a few months.    Listen on as to why you want to grow your FTP, but there are some prerequisites to this, and there are other areas that need focus as well!   But why? Let’s think about this in realistic terms. Check out the blog for full details!

Tour of South Florida: My 3 Lessons Learned After 891 TSS in 4 Days 😑🍚

I have a young athlete that I told he has to write down three lessons that he learned after every race, and I thought to myself: why am I not still doing that? So I’ve risen from the ashes after my fourth stage, which is not a real stage in the tour of South Florida, but I was talking to Patrick today and he was like “dude you sound tired”. It’s been a long day, I’m ready to go to bed, but I wanted to get this down on an audio file so I remember my three lessons. 🚀🚀🚀here we go🚀🚀🚀
