The U.S., Britain and France are all strongly criticizing a Russian claim that Ukraine may drop a radioactive dirty bomb on its own territory. Russian missiles and drones have caused serious damage in a southern city, near the area where Ukraine's army is massing for a likely major offensive. We have 15 days left until Election Day, and a huge number of voters across the country have already cast their ballots. In Phoenix, some say that people with guns and wearing tactical gear approached them at a ballot drop location. Others said they were followed after voting. Opening statements for Harvey Weinstein's Los Angeles sexual assault trial are expected to begin today. The 70-year-old Hollywood producer is facing eleven charges of rape or sexual assault involving alleged interactions with five women in the L.A. area between 2004 and 2013. Breaking news in London on who'll be Britain's new Prime Minister. It will be Rishi Sunak, who was Treasury Minister under former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and then triggered the revolt that forced him out. Sunak lost to Liz Truss in the last leadership election over the summer. China's leader Xi Jinping is beginning a historic third term in office, after being anointed again as head of the country's Communist Party. But there was an unexpected twist in the normally highly-choreographed Chinese National Congress over the weekend, when his predecessor was escorted off the stage.

10/21: Hospitals are reporting an alarming spike in children with RSV. Iran sends troops to Crimea to help Russia
An urgent new warning for parents about a respiratory virus that's hitting infants and young children harder and earlier than usual this year. It's called RSV and it's basically the common cold. Cases have more than doubled in 25 states over the last month, and it's putting a big strain on hospitals. For the second time this year, Britain's Conservative Party is choosing a new prime minister. Liz Truss, who took over last month, said yesterday she will resign after a series of policy mistakes led to financial turmoil and a party revolt. Steve Bannon could become the first person with close ties to former President Trump to be sent to prison in the fallout from the January 6th attack. He faces sentencing for defying a subpoena from the Select Committee investigating the assault on the Capitol. A U.S. intelligence officer's wife who killed a British teenager in a car accident, then fled the country and claimed diplomatic immunity, has pleaded guilty to causing his death.

10/20: Prime Minister of Britain announces that she will step down. Pres. Xi Jinping is tightening his grip on power in China.
The new Prime Minister of Britain announced that she will step down after an uproar in parliament and her own party. Liz Truss, who took over from Boris Johnson in early September, will be replaced in a new leadership election. Ukraine's army is moving to cut off Russian forces in the key city of Kherson, hoping to build on other successes on the battlefield. Russian President Vladimir Putin has now declared martial law in four provinces that were illegally annexed earlier this month. President Biden campaigns for Democrats today in Pennsylvania, one of the few places where candidates want his support. A federal judge says Trump signed a legal document under oath, claiming voter fraud in the 2020 election, even though he knew those claims were false. District Judge David Carter pointed to four emails that appear to show attorney John Eastman knew Trump and other Trump lawyers were submitting inaccurate numbers of allegedly fraudulent votes, to federal courts. President Xi Jinping is tightening his grip on power at the Communist Party's National Congress in China. President Xi has introduced more assertive policies at home and abroad, leading to chilly relations with neighboring Taiwan and tighter controls over Hong Kong.

People in a St. Louis suburb are outraged by new evidence that an elementary school has "unacceptable levels" of radioactive contamination.

This comes at a time of historic unrest in Iran after the death of a woman in the custody of the so-called morality police. Another round of suicide drone attacks in Ukraine has brought terror to the people of Kyiv and other cities. A major wildfire burning in Washington state. The Nakia Creek fire has been burning outside Vancouver, Washington for more than a week, forcing nearly 3,000 people from their homes. In Ohio, a hot-tempered debate last night in the tight U.S. Senate race between Democratic Congressman Tim Ryan and Republican J.D. Vance. The Trump Organization is rejecting a new claim of profiteering during former President Trump's time in office. The House Oversight Committee says Trump-owned hotels charged "excessive rates," sometimes more than $1,000 a night for Secret Service personnel protecting the Trump family. Government prosecutors are asking a judge to give Steve Bannon six months in prison for defying a subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th attack. He was convicted of two misdemeanors in July: refusing to sit for a deposition and refusing to provide documents. Tens of millions of Americans may qualify for up to $20,000 in student loan relief for people with federal debt.

Deadly Russian attacks in Ukraine forced civilians to run for their lives in the capital city of Kyiv, as multiple blasts ripped apart busy neighborhoods. The death toll in Iran is rising from a fire at a prison that holds political prisoners, and at least two Americans. Eight people are now confirmed dead from the fire that started on Saturday. In the case of a possible serial killer in California, police say they've arrested the man seen in surveillance video, suspected of killing 5 men since July. Our updated CBS News Battleground Tracker shows the Republicans are holding their advantage in the race to control the House of Representatives. Voters have been responding to the only debate so far between Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker. A new policy takes effect today that could be a game-changer for millions of Americans who are hearing-impaired. For the first time, over-the-counter hearing aids will become widely available, at a lower cost. The move, announced by the FDA over the summer, targets adults 18 and older with mild-to-moderate hearing loss. Major retailers will sell the devices. Tens of millions in the U.S. are looking at record cold temperatures this week.
