You were crafted and engineered for love by Love Himself. We were marked by Love before we were marred by anything else. Our worth and value has already been established. When we do not value what God values we are insulting God’s handiwork. You were made a poem to the world and were secured on God before the foundation of the world. The question of whether or not God favors men over women is a crucial one. The thorny issue of women being undervalued, devalued, oppressed, or in bondage in masculine-favored societies over the ages is ongoing, if less overt. The pain is real and particularly difficult if it looks like God is for it on any level. The Old Testament of the Bible truly reflects societies where this was simply not questioned. The difficult passages regarding women in the New Testament and how they have been handled poorly and filtered through faulty lenses do need to be addressed. Most people have a sense of the value of giving and serving. This is such a premium in God’s kingdom that Christ laid down His life for humanity and gave us the commandment to love for one another. He defined loving one another as laying down our lives for one another. However when we serve out of obligation, which often stems from guilt, we can eventually become resentful, drained, and burnt out. The fast lane is all about getting somewhere quickly, often with sights on passing others to be first. This is not really a God perspective. God takes the long view to accomplish eternal purposes that transcend time and space and manifest His goodness for His kids. God is relational and relationship is much more about journey and process than it is about objective.
