He defined loving one another as laying down our lives for one another. However when we serve out of obligation, which often stems from guilt, we can eventually become resentful, drained, and burnt out. God meant us to serve from the freedom of love, which brings joy and fulfillment. It is the cure for the trap of depressing self-absorption that counters our original design. How do we get there?
