Ranking for 200,000+ Keywords With a New Site Using Programmatic AI SEO
E439: The GPT-based Chrome Extension in this episode ranked on Google for 213,000+ keywords on Google (2,200 rankings in positions 1-3) with a site that was well under one year old. No 301-redirects. No acquisitions. Normal SEO, heavily augmented with programmatic AI pages. Then, during the panic of Google penalizing AI sites in early 2024, this site completely scrapped all its AI pages. Then… it brought them back. And now, nearly two years after the website was created, it ranks for a fraction of the keywords it once ranked for - likely because of Google's March 2024 update and due to the website being harmed by scrapping so many previous pages. This is an epic SEO story with ups, downs, and lessons. When Samsung Bought Out the Train Station in Front of the New Apple Store
E433: We look at the time Samsung bought out the train station in front of the new Apple Store Malaysia. Samsung used a legal loophole to do this and renamed the station, "The Samsung Galaxy Station." They also bought out all the ad space in the station. People had to walk through nonstop ads of Samsung devices to get to the new Apple Store. Next, we look at Burger King's viral Moldy Whopper Campaign. Burger King made videos and an image of a Whopper decomposing for 30 days and getting super moldy. Then Burger King put enough ad budget behind this to get 8.4 billion impressions on their moldy Whopper. You won't believe what the sales outcome was. Finally, we look at a big marketing fail. Fiji Water said, "The label says Fiji because it's not bottled in Cleveland." Well, the city of Cleveland was offended by this so they did some tests. They found Fiji water contained 6.3 micrograms of arsenic per liter, whereas Cleveland tap water, which was also tastier and better for the environment, had no arsenic. And throughout all of these, we look at their low-cost/no-cost alternatives that any company can do. SEO. Build in Public. And benevolent social media marketing. This is a good one. Backlinks from Webpages with Thousands of Links Do Work
E432: There's a belief in SEO that backlinks from websites, and especially from pages, that link out to thousands of other sites, are not enough to do anything. "This page gives so many algorithmic votes of confidence (aka SEO backlinks) that they stop mattering," the theory goes. But is this true? This experiment tests this and turns back results that are directly actionable. 00:00 Backlinks from Webpages with Thousands of Links Work 01:15 SEO Link Building 101 and Backlinks 03:10 The PageRank Split Test Explained 04:52 Real-World Application and Results 06:14 Manipulating Language Around Backlinks 07:41 Creative Ways to Get Backlinks 08:11 Final Thoughts The Edward Show.
