Diversity and Respect
Jon and The Brandt Brothers discuss diversity in the workplace and treating each other with respect. The Brandt Brothers, Ralph, and Rich are identical twins who together started RDR Group—a training and consulting firm that has been addressing issues like diversity, harassment, customer service, incivility, and how to create a positive workplace for over twenty years. Building a Successful Business and Managing Your Team and Clients Thru COVID
Jon and Kevin discuss building a successful business and managing your team and clients thru COVID-19. Kevin founded District Capital in 2018 with a specific goal, to create a mortgage banking platform that provides clients with the best possible capital markets execution, period. The client first mentality comes from Kevin's 18 years of mortgage banking experience and by being a commercial real estate owner himself. Kevin thinks like an owner, treating each client's deal as if he was financing something from his portfolio providing thoughtful, creative solutions for any capital need. Kevin started his career as a credit analyst with JP Morgan and quickly realized he wasn't built to be a banker. After a quick cup of coffee with JPM, Kevin moved into the real estate world as an analyst and quickly moved into the role of a mortgage banker. As a mortgage banker, Kevin rose to become the top producer within the firm. During his time as a mortgage banker, Kevin financed every type of cash flowing real estate ranging from an outdoor water park in the Midwest (not kidding!) to industrial parks, retail malls, office towers, apartment complexes, and everything in between. Over his last 18 years, Kevin has financed, acquired, managed, and serviced well over $10 billion dollars of transactions. Outside of the office, Kevin spends most of his free time with his family of 6. Kevin married his junior high sweetheart, Danielle and together they have four kids, Jake, Ben, Luke, and Lana. If you want to track down Kevin outside of the office just head to the nearest ball field where he is probably coaching one of his kid's sports teams. Kevin also enjoys traveling, spending time with his family in northern Michigan, golfing, playing hockey, and staying active. Jon and Warren discuss how powerful knowledge is and how important it is to be continuously learning. Warren Shaeffer is a 2x company co-founder, a 2x human co-founder, and a 1st generation American. He's currently the CEO and Co-founder of Knowable, a venture-backed audio platform whose mission is to unlock billions of hours of learning time in order to help more people achieve their potential. He started Knowable to solve his own problem: he wanted to learn new skills, but couldn't find the time for video courses. Prior to Knowable, Warren was the CEO and Co-founder of Vidme, a video platform that grew to over 25 million monthly users (acquired by Giphy), and the COO and Co-owner of SocialEngine (acquired by Room214). Prior to becoming a tech entrepreneur, Warren worked as an investor at Golden Gate Capital, where he helped launch a billion-dollar credit fund, and as an investment banker at JPMorgan in the technology and media group. Warren enjoys storytelling in all its forms, and occasionally performs live stories for The Moth. He also recently performed stand-up comedy for the first time at an open mic.
