59: Going Back In Time
This episode is my advice to all the different age groups of what I would have done better if I could go back in time to any of these years: 10-19 years-old, 20-29 year-olds OR 30-39 year-olds. Everyone wishes they can do something different from the past, so why not listen to someone who has already been there. It's like listening to someone from the FUTURE!

58: Best Home Gym Ideas
In this episode, I go over my best practices on creating a home gym. I haven't seen too many people stay motivated by this approach, which is why I like to keep the costs down on the home workout room so that the client can also save their money for personal training or fitness classes. I think a blend of both home and in-person workouts is the best option for someone really motivated.

In this episode of the "Over 40 Fitness Hacks" podcast, Brad Williams discusses the key differences between strength training and regular weight training, often referred to as circuit training. Brad, a personal trainer with over 14 years of experience, aims to clarify these distinctions for his audience.
Normal weight training or circuit training, he explains, primarily focuses on bodybuilding and increasing the size of lean muscle mass. The goals here are calorie burning, aesthetics, and improved functionality through better balance and strength. Repetition ranges typically vary from 12 to 20 reps, depending on individual goals.
On the other hand, strength training emphasizes strengthening individual muscle fibers rather than increasing muscle size. Brad points out that while strength training is often associated with younger athletes, it can still be incorporated into a fitness regimen for those over 40. Repetition ranges for strength training typically fall between five to eight reps, with some athletes pushing for one-rep maxes for explosive power output.
Brad highlights the importance of being cautious and avoiding injury in strength training due to the higher speed and weight involved. For the over 40 crowd, he recommends sticking to weight training with circuit or HIIT variations, but occasionally incorporating strength training if specific strength goals exist.
He stresses the significance of warming up before attempting one-rep maxes to prevent injuries. Brad also emphasizes that warming up is about movement, not stretching, and that stretching is best done after the workout when muscles are more pliable.
In conclusion, Brad Williams provides a clear overview of the distinctions between strength training and normal weight training, advocating for a balanced approach that aligns with individual fitness goals and age-related considerations. He emphasizes the importance of warming up and maintaining perfect form to prevent injuries, especially for those over 40.
