Any intentional choices can ground you if you allow yourself to feel them fully. Try naming any of the senses you’re experiencing - like what you may see, feel, smell, taste, etc. if any apply to the moment. My favorite way to ground - other than intentional breath work - is through movement. That may be a walk, a workout, a dance, or a stretch. We can improve our empathy skills by listening with genuine curiosity, putting ourself in other people’s shoes by asking ourselves “what if it was me” as they share their stories, and responding with our heart rather than just our head.
