Changing the HR Game with Nate Randall

Nate Randall is the Founder and President of Ursa Major Consulting as well as the host of the Illuminate HR Podcast. Previous to that, he led HR and benefits roles with Washington Mutual, Safeway, and Tesla. Nate and I dug deep into the ways in which the HR role needs to change and why that will be an enormous benefit to organizations everywhere. He shared a couple really cool stories from the crazy days of Tesla (like the day when every employee became a salesperson). Nate was way ahead of his time in bringing strategic solutions to HR and benefits efforts and the wisdom he shares on the podcast is so valuable. Give it a listen and share your feedback! Taking Personal Responsibility Amidst a Broken Healthcare System with Hannah Moyer

Hannah Moyer is the Head of Paid Media for Blue Light Media and hosts a successful podcast called Candidly Caffeinated. She is a recent transplant to California from Nashville (who leaves Nashville?) though originally from Philly.  While Hannah and I had a lot to talk about, a large majority of our time was spent discussing chronic illness, food sensitivity, and a need for personal responsibility in our healthcare. At the age of 13, Hannah began to experience some health issues related to food sensitivity that quickly grew into what seemed near uncontrollable. While some doctors were as helpful as they could be, much of the traditional health system was not helpful in her addressing the root cause of her issues. She began eliminating foods and exploring nutritional supplements (along with prescribed medication). She was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto disease (among other issues) in 2015.  Even after being diagnosed, her traditional healthcare providers were not much help. She determined the Paleo diet was best for her, started following healthcare innovators like Chris Kresser, did some testing including the DUTCH test, a saliva test, and various blood tests, and ended up engaging a local Functional Medicine Doctor in Lake Forest, CA by the name of Dr. Nick Deliberato. I believe a story like Hannah’s is critical for us all to listen to. But as we talked, we made sure to remind people over and over again that what’s good for one is not good for all. Your body is unique. If you are experiencing health issues, you need to seek out experts that will create a plan specific to you.  Disclaimer: We are not doctors, nor do we claim to be. We are speaking from personal experience and opinion only. Other topics we discussed: The importance of being an engaged healthcare consumer The plethora of great health-related information available if you find the right sources Creating a food intolerance by eliminating foods (and why that could be bad for you) CrossFit athletes often chase bad diets Why Nashville is the greatest city in the country Links to episode mentions Chris Kresser – Founder of the Kresser Institute Dr Nick Deliberato – Functional Medicine Doctor Viome – Gut testing Dr Michael Ruscio – author of “Healthy Gut Healthy You” Article – The Silent Truth: Restrictive Diets and Disordered Eating Connect with Hannah Instagram – @hjmoyer Twitter – @hjmoyer Podcast – Candidly Caffeinated Connect with me: LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/in/rjmsalespro Instagram – @rjmsalepro Twitter @rjmsalespro Web – https://ryanjamesmiller.com/The post Taking Personal Responsibility Amidst a Broken Healthcare System with Hannah Moyer first appeared on Ryan James Miller.

Turning the Life We’re Given Into the Life We Want with Collin Meeves

At face value, Collin Meeves is the head coach at Resolution Crossfit in Yorba Linda, CA. But there is far more than meets the eye. In this episode, Collin and I definitely talked about Crossfit including what it takes to compete at an elite level, what coaches should really be doing, and the mentality in cheating. But there is so much more to Collin that most don’t know. We talked about the ways alcoholism and the loss of his father a few years ago shaped him as a man (and a new husband), how negative self-perception destroys us, the importance of practicing mindfulness and self-improvement, and a recent moment in which Collin brought an entire room full of people to tears (we both cried when we talked about it). Check out this episode and then make sure to connect with Collin. He’s got a whole lot more to share so stay tuned! Bringing About Change After Failure

In a recent post on Linked, I shared a few of my bigger failures in life and business. And it caused quite a lot of response and engaging conversation (find the LinkedIn post here). One of the comments I received included this question “if you had to provide 5 practical points to consider to bring about change, from your perspective, what would they be?” After considering the question, I decided that this was a great question to answer on the podcast. Some of the things I address include: Why we should focus on “becoming”? The connection between perception and action. How to self-reflect in order to incite action. Enjoy this episode and contact me if you have any feedback or questions.
