In 1692 the Puritan colonies of North America had fallen on dark times. The colonists had suffered through two devastating wars with Native American and French neighbors which had left much of the Maine frontier a scorched ruin and produced a refugee crisis. The colonies had their charter revoked and a military governor installed. These circumstances had a visible impact on the towns which inhabited the Massachusetts coast. Towns that had seen growing prosperity and had begun to move away from their austere and devout origins. Numerous religious leaders began to see these unfortunate events as an encroaching darkness which signaled God’s displeasure at the colonists' departures from tradition and purity. There was a call for religious and moral reformation, supporters began to search for any way to prove their devotion and regain the favor of their deity. For hundreds of years, there was one well-known way to thin the ranks of the Devil, to identify those who consorted with the Lord of Lies and cast them out. To regain the grace of God it was necessary to find those who were labeled witches and carry out God’s justice. On May 24, 2006 Mark Whistler, Steven King, and George Rayburn had run into each other on the eighth day after the disappearance of their mutual friend Rey Rivera. Prior to the 24th, the men had been active in handing out missing person flyers and putting up posters in the downtown Baltimore area. The group decided to check out the parking garage adjacent to the historic Belvedere hotel near where Ray’s vehicle had been found abandoned days earlier. Based on calculations from the believed irregularities in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune, Lowell and his team pursued the possible trans-Neptunian planet that he was convinced lurked on the edge of our solar system.  Unfortunately, Lowell would die before he was able to discover the object of his search was the dwarf planet known as Pluto. In recent years the possibility of another orbiting body has been raised by groups of scientists around the world. Some astronomers believe this object, that could possibly be as large as Neptune, may be orbiting through the Kuiper Belt where the leftovers of our solar system's formation lay. In 1957 the U.S. Chemical Corps of Engineers had been producing chemical munitions, using the deadly sarin nerve gas, to fulfill their stockpile requirements set by the U.S. Department of Defense. After filling these quotas, the Chemical Corps pivoted their means of production of VX nerve gas. VX had the sinister reputation of being three times as toxic as sarin when inhaled and almost one thousand times more toxic when absorbed through the skin. With one liter having the theoretical capacity for killing one million people. Many of the men who helped in the development and production of these weapons of unparalleled lethality were former Nazis who, just a little more than a decade before, were building weapons that were intended to be used on Allied soldiers during WWII. But even before Berlin had fallen, many of these scientists who were captured by advancing Allied froces had thrown away their allegiance to the Nazi ideology and professed innocence and ignorance of the multitude of war crimes that happened at the weapons testing and production facilities in Nazi Germany. During the 1970's the possibility of global nuclear war was still treated as a very real threat. Both the U.S. and Soviet Union were caught in a seemingly endless race of nuclear weapon proliferation. In the northern state of Minnesota, the U.S. had constructed several bases that housed installations for the launch of nuclear ballistic missiles. In the United States, there are a few contenders for the title UFO capital. You might think it’s New Mexico, with its sprawling deserts and history of UFO crashes and secret military bases. During the 1700’s thousands of French settlers were expelled from the Northeastern region of North America and were forced to return to France or resettle in various other areas. One of the most popular destinations was the then Spanish colony of Louisiana. Over the following century, these recently arrived French and the area’s Native American cultures blended into what we now call Cajuns. Although, bloodlines and customs were not the only things that ended up mixing together. Legends of a shapeshifting terror also took form from the shared beliefs of both groups. An unholy beast that stalks the swamps and bayous with an uncontrollable thirst for blood. In May of 1967, Stefan Michalak was out hunting for quartz when a group of geese had seemingly been spooked by two glowing cigar shaped objects. Michalak’s encounter at Falcon Lake would go on to produce one of Canada’s most well known UFO encounters. A little less than a decade later and about 100 miles west, over the skies of the town of Carman another incredible phenomenon took place. Beginning in early 1975 town residents began observing a strange object crossing their skies with alarming regularity. The object appeared so frequently that those who watched the skies, trying to catch a glimpse of the object, allegedly began to ascribe human characteristics to the object and even gave it a proper name. Set in what is now the Rubio Woods Forest Preserve just 18 miles southeast of Chicago, Illinois sits an unassuming plot of land that houses an estimated 150 graves. These graves, the first burial taking place in 1844, have long been untended and are in various states of disrepair. Visitors and paranormal experts who have visited the grounds have reported feelings of despair and isolation while walking among the headstones and in the surrounding forest. Coupled with the vandalization of numerous gravestones there have been recorded incidents of illegal exhumation of some of the human remains.
