Surat Al-Baqarah - Part 49
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into Ayat 127 of Surah Al Baqarah. Here what is discussed is the actual building of the Ka'bah and there is something more going on than just mere building of the Ka'bah.
The foundations of the House of Allah was always there even before Ibrahim AS was assigned the task of building the walls of the Ka'bah. The meaning of the word - Qawaid - is illustrated beautifully and makes for an interesting and comprehensive listening.
"Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”
This Dua is the spiritual foundation of our faith. Imperfections is what we are and yet we want Allah to accept all our shortcomings which demonstrates our humility and hence, we ask Allah the highest degree of acceptance despite our misdeeds and sins. We implore Allah to listen to our pleas whatever state we may be in.

The Qurans Universal Message
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan gives a thought-provoking lecture on the universal message of the Book of Allah - the Noble Qur'an by using the opening Ayah of Surah An-Nisa which is by far one of the many testaments to the universal message of the Qur'an.
Addressing humanity, Allah commands people, both Muslims, and non-Muslims, to be conscious and aware of their Master, the One who created them from a single soul. By emphasizing that the entire human race has descended from Adam AS, Allah is stressing our common humanity despite our superficial differences. Hence, it is of immense significance that we realize that we are dealing with the property of Allah and so we must be cautious, specifically with women.
Allah links Taqwa (awareness and consciousness of Him) directly to all relationships of the womb, which also means that we should not evoke Allah’s name casually during domestic disputes. We must also protect the institution of marriage and if we want to set an example for real Taqwa, then we are obliged to primarily honor our own families and humanity as a whole.

Amazed By The Quran - Dont Be Judgmental
After the Muslim victory in the Battle of Badr, Allah revealed Aya 70 of Surat Al-Anfaal. Here, He commands his Prophet to let the prisoners of war know that if He sees that there is goodness in them, He will see a way through for them. Itâs an incredible acknowledgment that goodness lies deep inside the hearts of people and that even in the most obvious situations, weâre not in a position to judge. We may criticize actions, but to judge someone's character altogether or label them as good or bad, thatâs not up to us.

Surat Al-Baqarah - Part 48
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into Ayat number 125 of the magnificent Surah Al Baqarah.
‘And [mention] when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of] security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], "Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in prayer]."
So hints are dropped first and then the entire matter is elaborated upon in the Ayats of the Qur'an so that one is duly prepared for it.
Allah now reminds us of what He commanded Ibrahim AS. When the Qiblah was made to mean a place that is peaceful and safe. The preservation of the future generation will have a lot to do with the House of Allah - the Ka'bah. Also mentioned is the critical role of the Masajids in raising our children and giving them a sound upbringing. The deeper wisdom of hajj is also elaborated upon.

Surat Al-Baqarah - Part 47
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into an explicit explanation of the Ayats 122 - 124 of Surah Al Baqarah.
One of the first things we learn about Bani Israel is that when they were tested with trials and tribulations of the highest degree, they constantly failed those tests. Another thing of interest is the attitude that they possessed believing that Allah had given them preference but Allah reminds them that even worse trials were afflicted on those before them. What was the honor Allah bestowed on Ibrahim AS? Allah made him the universal leader - the Imam over all humanity.
Ibrahim AS is the father of both the Arabs and the Non-Arabs - Ismael AS and Ishaq AS.
Numerous lessons can be imbibed from this lecture.
We should look at the blessings that Allah SWT has given us and not envy others.
We should be pleased and content with what others have been blessed, but should never pray for their blessings to be snatched.
We should also never lose focus of the Final Day – the Day of Judgment - the Day when man’s only concern will be his own salvation, so much so that parents will leave their children, and spouses and siblings will not worry about one another.

Surat Al-Baqarah - Part 46
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into the final Ayats 122 123 of Surah Al Baqarah on the discussion of the Israelites. This Ayat mimics Ayat number 47 of the same Surah. The points that are discussed here are:
How the Israelites were conferred with numerous benefits apart from having Prophets and Messengers amongst them and how Allah did favors more than that done for previous generations.
How they should accept the Final Revelation and they should be the first to believe it in also.
We should look at the blessings that Allah SWT has given us and not envy others. We should be pleased and content with what others have been blessed, but should never pray for their blessings to be snatched. Most importantly, we should also never lose focus of the Final Day – the Day of Judgement when man’s only concern will be his own salvation, so much so that parents will leave their children, and spouses and siblings will not worry about one another.
We are left with a parting note with a profound statement - ‘ Every trial is a Blessing.’

Building A Great Community
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan delves into the steps one must strive to take in order to build a great community. Some points worth remembering are as follows:
Allah wants to forgive us. Hence, we should be wanting of Allah’s forgiveness at all times.
We must all be ambassadors of Islam that promotes peace and mercy in today's world.
We must protect our Islam through our families, and our families through Islam.
Help each other in “Birr” and in “Taqwa”.
Accept the Islamic diversity in different communities for peaceful gatherings to come into being.
Do not cooperate in sins.
Work collectively as Muslims.
Establish the Deen to its fullest strength.
The efforts we have to make as individuals and efforts we have to make as a community, we have guidance for that in Allah’s book also.

Amazed By The Quran - You Reap What You Sow
In Surat Al-Qalam, Allah tells the cautionary tale of two farmers who conspired to harvest their crop very early in the day to avoid the pleading hands of the needy, only to find that their entire crop had been destroyed to the point that they couldnât even recognize their own garden. Before Allah, they were made bankrupt both physically and spiritually for denying the rights of the poor in their hearts. Merely thinking about the needy as a nuisance is a disease of the heart and in this story, the intention to withhold charity was enough to enrage Allah. We must not allow any corruption in our hearts to manifest in things that will harm us in this life and the next.

Honesty And Justice In The Society
Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan shares a few lessons and reflections from just one Ayah of Surah An-Nisa which is a very comprehensive and very powerful Ayat in the life of a Muslim. It’s a Madani Surah, which means that the audience is predominantly the Muslim himself as opposed to a Makki Surah where the predominant and primary audiences are non-Muslims. But in the Madani Qur’an, the majority of the people that were listening were the Muslims themselves.
The ayats of surah An Nisa talk about various points such as the Commands that are supposed to be applied such as Allah is commanding us that we should have Taqwa. Also, the concept and importance of Amanah is elaborated upon.
The majority of the lecture delves on the importance of sound and impeccable judgment and how it is paramount for a Muslim to be a sound judge between people in the face of a dispute or altercation.
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing.”
[Surah An Nisa , verse 58]
This implies that we should make fair decisions keeping the Shariah in mind and always remember that Allah is always Listening and always Watching.
