Ep 212 What is Ageing? | Dr Nichola Conlon

Episode 212 hosts Dr Nichola Conlon (Molecular Biologist based inNewcastle, UK) Nichola is an academic scientist with a particular interest in how and why we age. She's the founder of Nuchido, a company who's mission is to help bring affordable anti-ageing strategies to the public domain. When we started the IA podcast back in 2019, some of our older episodes covered wellness topics that looked at the relationship between looking good & feeling good. But we didn't address ageing itself or the evolving field of what many now refer to as 'regenerative medicine'. Research being conducted here is becoming more and more profound - with some scientists now confident that aging can not only be slowed but even reversed. What will come of this new emerging field we don't know yet, but it's likely to be especially relevant for aesthetic clinics who until now have only had the tools to 'camouflage' the external signs of ageing. 00:00 Introduction 01:03 Meet Dr Nichola Conlon 04:55 What Anti-Ageing Science Really Means 10:59 From Drug Development to Supplements 18:27 Why Ageing Happens at the Cellular Level 26:25 The Role of NAD in Energy and Repair 33:29 IV NAD vs Oral Supplements Explained 41:37 Benefits People Notice From NAD Support 48:53 Chronic Inflammation and Aging 52:09 Biological Age Testing and Tracking Progress 61:45 Lifestyle Factors That Drive Aging 68:49 Diet, Fasting, and Cellular Repair 76:38 Biohacking Trends and Practical Strategies 80:09 Future Treatments for Aging and Longevity 86:34 What Clinics Can Offer Patients Today 90:43 Final Thoughts and Takeaways ALL IA LINKS & CONTACT INFORMATION

Ep 208 The Impending New Guidelines for the Australian Cosmetic Industry | Dr Pouria Moradi & Sheri-lee Knoop

Episode 208 hosts Dr Pouria Moradi (Plastic Surgeon & Reconstructive Surgeon based in Sydney, Australia) & Sheri-lee Knoop (Registered Nurse & President of the Cosmetic Nurses Association based in Perth, Australia) Pouria and Sheri-Lee joined us to share their thoughts and insights into the proposed new Australia cosmetic regulations that have been announced by AHPRA (the Australian health practitioner regulator). These new rules affect both surgeons and non-surgical practitioners and come into force on July 1st 2023. For years there have been arguments between the various cosmetic stakeholders over which practitioners have the right to treat patients, who can and can't offer the various procedures and heated debates over the standards expected of cosmetic practioners. Last year's enquiry by AHPRA into cosmetic surgery led to a full scale review of all cosmetic procedures. This has culminated in a set of sweeping new regulations - and some have voiced that it's a self-inflicted wound on an industry that couldn't govern itself. The new rules have left many in the industry confused and extremely unhappy about what is proposed, arguing that it neither improves patient safety whilst also significantly impacting on practitioners livelihoods. 00:00 Introduction 04:55 Meet the Guests: Dr Pouria Moradi & Sheri-lee Knoop 10:59 Why New Regulations Are Happening 18:27 Impact on Surgeons and Clinics 26:25 Referral Rules and Consultation Changes 33:29 Effects on Regional and Overseas Patients 41:37 New Requirements for Consent and Payments 48:53 Advertising and Social Media Restrictions 52:09 Scope of Practice Changes for Nurses 61:45 High Risk Treatment Areas Explained 68:49 Training and Supervision Requirements 76:38 Challenges With BDD Screening 80:09 Legal and Compliance Risks for Clinics 86:34 Concerns About Patient Access and Safety 90:43 Industry Collaboration and Next Steps 95:25 Final Thoughts and Wrap Up ALL IA LINKS & CONTACT INFORMATION
