The annual Pride game between two of the Premier League clubs  – North Hobart and Clarence for the men and women’s 1sts and women’s 2nds. It is a sensational event with the aim of raising awareness that cricket is an inclusive space for the Rainbow community. If you are in the area – head along! This book is more than a memoir or self-help book; it’s a catalyst for personal transformation which will challenge you to embrace vulnerability, stand firm in your values, and practice courage daily! On the show this week we are joined by Alan Lang, co-chair Gay Games 11 Hong Kong,  to chat to us about the incredible success of the Gay Games in Hong Kong and how you can get to the Gay Games in Valencia, Spain in 2026! The Gay Games is the world’s biggest cultural and sporting event for the LGBTQ community every four years in a unique host city across 10 days. (Starts 1minute 27seconds) Michelle Sheppard better know in the Rainbow community as Mama Mish delights us with an incredibly fun sport that has come to Melbourne and encourages you to get involved! The team colours are yellow, green, pink and blue. The team names are Prawn Stars, I’m a brat when I’m kicking that, Queer as yolk and The Pika Blues. The sport is Emerald City Kickball, As well as being a leader in the realm of gender equity, Mama Mish is on the Melbourne Emerald Kickball Committee and the sport is going gang- busters! This is on the back of successful launches in Sydney, Perth, and Canberra. Mama Mish also shares her journey in sport as a transgender woman and belonging. Wendy is a die-hard North Melbourne AFLW supporter who was cheering loudly behind the goal square at the AFLW Preliminary final on Friday night at IKON Park against the Adelaide Crows. The Kangas won 5.8.38 v 5.1.31 and that was definitely with the support of one of their fabulous fans who used to play footy in the 1990s with the Darebin Falcons! We welcome Shaun McEachin, National Lead Sport Development at Squash Australia to talk with us about the commitment by Squash Australia to providing an inclusive environment for the LGBTIQA+ community and how you can enjoy this fantastic sport by taking part in the Rainbow Racquets Open Tournament in February 2025! Squash Australia is committed to creating a healthy sporting environment and a supportive community for the LGBTQIA+ community so head to Midsumma Carnival Alexandra Gardens Sports Precinct on the 19th January and say hi to the team, Squash Australia peeps will also be at the Midsumma Pride March 2nd February, and registrations are open for the Rainbow Racquets Open Tournament to be held on Saturday 1 February 2025 from 9-5pm at the State Sports Centres – MSAC. Let’s grow the Rainbow Racquets Network across across from Adelaide to Perth to  Sydney, Canberra, the Gold Coast and now Melbourne! Right across the code from Queensland’s premier netball team, the Queensland Firebirds to the community level with the Inclusion of Transgender & Gender Diverse people in Community Netball policy there are a number of exciting diversity and inclusion initiatives underway. Being out and about and meeting members of the rainbow community is a huge focus so head along to the Melt Festival and join in the Community Pride Netball Game on October 27, 4:00pm, Nissan Arena. Everyone is welcome and coaches are on hand for fun and free and inclusive netball activities and games! Australia’s most successful club wants you to enjoy all the passion and the drama of live football with their Pride Membership – a new package for Season 2024/25 designed for our LGBTQIA+ fans or Members wishing to support inclusion at Sydney FC matches. The new membership is one of a suite of initiatives introduced starting way back in 2017 to support the Rainbow community in the sport. It’s fantastic that the largest and most successful A-Leagues club in Australia has welcomed the LGBTIQA+ community in to be part of a strong and successful future with ongoing education and the innovative Pride membership! Al s also an Ambassador with Proud2Play an LGBTIQA+ organisation which advocates for inclusion in sport. Campbell is an Olympian in the Men’s boulder and lead competition and competed in the Paris Olympics this year.  As well as being an outstanding athlete we celebrate Campbell as a role model for showing his true self in a sporting environment – in Campbell’s case – at the biggest sporting event on the world stage! Is the sport of climbing the sport for you? Listen up as Campbell talks us through the ins and outs! Check out the Climbing QTs – an LGBTIQA+ climbing club which is a welcoming and inclusive community for individuals of all genders, sexualities, and identities. (2:00) The effervescent Dion Alexander who not only is Mr Gay Pride Australia 2022 and Mr Gay World 2023 Second Runner Up, but he is also a passionate Sydney Swans supporter and member of LGBTIQA+ AFL Pride group the Rainbow Swans. He is heading to the MCG this Saturday and will be supporting the Sydney Swans with pride. That includes wearing the team colours of red and white as well as the rainbow colours as a Rainbow Swan. Dion will be sharing with us how to be an out, loud and proud AFL and AFLW supporter! (14:16) *** James Sutherland the CEO of Golf Australia joins us to share the message that everyone belongs in golf. We are thrilled that James has taken some time to chat to us and share the inclusive vision for golf in Australia. Interested in having a hit? The 2024 AFL Footy Festival has been officially opened by AFL CEO Andrew Dillon and the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos. So that means four days of free footy fun and entertainment on offer for fans of all ages to enjoy during the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final week. All the action will be at Yarra Park outside the MCG and there will even be a Schweppes Ice Rink, player appearances, live entertainment, and some of Melbourne’s best food trucks and bars!
