Michelle Sheppard better know in the Rainbow community as Mama Mish delights us with an incredibly fun sport that has come to Melbourne and encourages you to get involved! The team colours are yellow, green, pink and blue. The team names are Prawn Stars, I’m a brat when I’m kicking that, Queer as yolk and The Pika Blues. The sport is Emerald City Kickball, As well as being a leader in the realm of gender equity, Mama Mish is on the Melbourne Emerald Kickball Committee and the sport is going gang- busters! Squash Australia is committed to creating a healthy sporting environment and a supportive community for the LGBTQIA+ community so head to Midsumma Carnival Alexandra Gardens Sports Precinct on the 19th January and say hi to the team, Squash Australia peeps will also be at the Midsumma Pride March 2nd February, and registrations are open for the Rainbow Racquets Open Tournament to be held on Saturday 1 February 2025 from 9-5pm at the State Sports Centres – MSAC. Right across the code from Queensland’s premier netball team, the Queensland Firebirds to the community level with the Inclusion of Transgender & Gender Diverse people in Community Netball policy there are a number of exciting diversity and inclusion initiatives underway. Australia’s most successful club wants you to enjoy all the passion and the drama of live football with their Pride Membership – a new package for Season 2024/25 designed for our LGBTQIA+ fans or Members wishing to support inclusion at Sydney FC matches. The new membership is one of a suite of initiatives introduced starting way back in 2017 to support the Rainbow community in the sport. The effervescent Dion Alexander who not only is Mr Gay Pride Australia 2022 and Mr Gay World 2023 Second Runner Up, but he is also a passionate Sydney Swans supporter and member of LGBTIQA+ AFL Pride group the Rainbow Swans.
He is heading to the MCG this Saturday and will be supporting the Sydney Swans with pride. That includes wearing the team colours of red and white as well as the rainbow colours as a Rainbow Swan. Dion will be sharing with us how to be an out, loud and proud AFL and AFLW supporter! (14:16) ***

The 2024 AFL Footy Festival has been officially opened by AFL CEO Andrew Dillon and the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos. So that means four days of free footy fun and entertainment on offer for fans of all ages to enjoy during the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final week.
All the action will be at Yarra Park outside the MCG and there will even be a Schweppes Ice Rink, player appearances, live entertainment, and some of Melbourne’s best food trucks and bars! Head on down with a welcome from Steve and Andrew to get involved and enjoy all the fun of sport! (43:00)
