We live in a “quick fix” culture that tells us that the more we know, the more we’re going to be able to see our desired results and outcomes. But this simply isn’t true. Think about it - if this was true, every one of us would have 6-pack abs, supermodel confidence, and be running a 7-figure business. 105 - I Hope Your Kids Trigger You. I Said It, and I Mean It – Here’s Why
Our kids all do certain things that can be triggering for us. In frustration, we can wonder what we’re doing wrong when our kids have moments of disobedience, defiance, and disrespect. In today’s episode, I’m here to offer you another perspective. While it’s certainly not the easy route, our kid’s most difficult behaviors may actually be a good thing. I explain 1) why our kids’ pushing back is beneficial for their emotional growth and development and 2) when we do the inner work to start healing our triggers, we can hold beautiful space for our children as they practice new skills (like respectfully disagreeing) in a safe environment. 102 – Ever Feel Unseen or Unappreciated? How to Ask for What You Need Without Starting an Argument
Sometimes it can feel like no one appreciates all we do as working moms. I get it - sometimes it feels like a simple “thank you” would go a long way. A few years ago, I started to notice that I was judging myself for feeling this way. But the truth is that we all have needs, including a need to be seen and valued. In today’s episode, I coach you through what to do when you feel unseen and unappreciated. I offer an invitation to reframe your mindset and take ownership of expressing your needs. I even coach you through the script I used in conversation with my husband to share with him how I was feeling unappreciated (without it starting an argument). Was it a little awkward? Maybe. 100 - What Makes a “Good” Mom, Anyway? How to Avoid the Trap of Trying to Do It All
In our 100th episode (woot woot!!), I’m joined by Lauren, our podcast producer extraordinaire, to discuss what it means to be a “good” mom. Do we need to throw Pinterest-worthy birthday parties (no), feed our kiddos only organic (also no), or always keep our cool (nope again)? It does mean we love deeply. We do our best. We show up even when we don’t feel like it. We own our shortcomings and mistakes. We have a lot of laughs. We wipe tears and kiss boo-boos and say bedtime prayers. We find the joy amidst the chaos. Lauren and I take a walk down memory lane and discuss imposter syndrome and the limiting beliefs that crept in over the launch of the podcast and how we navigated that season of growth. As busy moms, we can get caught in a trap of trying to do it all and oftentimes our drive as high achievers can lead us to overwhelm and burnout. Lauren and I discuss how we’ve managed what we realistically expect of ourselves and how setting better boundaries has been key to our consistency. Listen in as I also cast vision for what’s to come for The Calm Mom Podcast. And finally, THANK YOU for joining us for 100 episodes! Come celebrate with us! 🧠 What's your capacity pattern?
