Az-Zubair bin al-Awwam RA was the blessed companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and was among the early people who had accepted Islam as their religion. As is well known, he also had the bliss of being amongst the Ashara Mubashara. He has the privilege of honour to unsheathe the sword in the path of Allah for the first time. A famous narration certifies this fact and has been explicitly covered by Shaykh Yasir Qadhi. One of the numerous Hadiths that have been discussed in the above talk and that which illustrate the stature of this great Sahabi is elucidated in the following narration: In the battle of Badr, the Prophet ﷺ said on seeing a yellow turban tied around the head of  Az-Zubayr Ibn Al-Awwam “Verily, the angels [also] came down from heaven [to assist the believers] in the appearance of Az-Zubayr”. Modern Challenges

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi takes on the topic of conflicting challenges faced by the modern generation and the generation of our parents or the previous generations. Being Muslims, we should adopt the approach of understanding our society around us and not just focus our energy on building our own community. Of course, it is a necessity but it should be done in a balanced way such that we lay equal emphasis on our role in the framework of the huge nation that we are a part of. Who is voicing the concerns or the troubles faced by the Muslim ummah? The past supporters of Islam did provide us with quintessential support to the best of their ability. But today, where are the influential Muslim voices? The youth of our Islam religion should step up and realise their role in the upliftment of Islam and confront their fears while reminding themselves of their large part to play as a part of the population of this nation. The flourishing of Islam is also because of our previous generation and we should be always proud of that culture and the efforts that went into the realisation of their dreams.

Happiness in Marriage

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges on details pertaining to the blessings of marriage and the key factors that help in its sustainability. Each spouse finds Sakeenah through the other spouse. Each completes the other. In Surah 30, Verse 21 of Surah ar-Rum, Allah tells us that he regards the creation of spouses - the husband and wife - as a sign of His greatness. Not only has Allah created these individuals, but He himself has placed love and mercy between them so that they can live a life of tranquility, peace and harmony. Both husband and wife need mutual respect and love, care and understanding. The husband has the right to attain respect from his wife in exchange for love and adoration towards the wife. We should submit to Allah and be just and balanced in all our relationships. The Prophet ﷺ was the role model for husbands on how to treat wives and not once in his life did he subject his wives to domestic abuse or violence. A Hadith by him reasserts this very fact where he says that the one who abuses his wife is not among the best Muslims.

Although Ali enjoyed the staunch support of his people,Alī RA authority was weakened during the last two years of his Khilafat. A number of prominent Muslims even met in Adrūh with the thought of deposing both Alī and Muʿāwiyah and appointing Abdullāh as the next Khalifa. The Khārijites had made plans for the assassination of Alī, Muʿāwiyah, and ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAṣ. This decision was met with success as Ali RA was struck in the back of the head with a poisoned sword while praying in the Masjid of Kufa. He died two days later and was buried in Al-Najaf. We are also made to understand various Hadiths with regards to Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA: Narrated by Abu Hazim: A man came to Sahl bin Sad and said, "This is so-and-so," meaning the Governor of Medina, "He is calling 'Ali bad names near the pulpit." Sahl asked, "What is he saying?" He (i.e. the man) replied, "He calls him (i.e. 'Ali) Abu Turab." Sahl laughed and said, "By Allah, none but the Prophet called him by this name and no name was dearer to 'Ali than this." So I asked Sahl to tell me more, saying, "O Abu 'Abbas! How (was this name given to 'Ali)?" Sahl said, "'Ali went to Fatima and then came out and slept in the Mosque. The Prophet asked Fatima, "Where is your cousin?" She said, "In the Mosque." The Prophet went to him and found that his (i.e. Ali's) covering sheet had slipped of his back and dust had soiled his back. The Prophet started wiping the dust off his back and said twice, "Get up! O Abu Turab (i.e. O. man with the dust)."   Narrated by Ubaida: Ali said (to the people of 'Iraq), "Judge as you used to judge, for I hate differences (and I do my best ) till the people unite as one group, or I die as my companions have died." And narrated Sad that the Prophet said to 'Ali, "Will you not be pleased from this that you are to me like Aaron was to Moses?"   Narrated by 'Uqba bin Al-Harith: I saw Abu Bakr carrying Al-Hasan and saying, "Let my father be sacrificed for you; you resemble the Prophet and not 'Ali," while 'Ali was laughing at this.
