On Death - Reflections At The Loss of My Aunt
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi experiences a personal loss and is in a whirlwind of emotions even as he expresses his thoughts on the death of his aunt. He reasserts the fact that death is an inevitable reality that we almost always ignore. Every soul will face it - the wise one prepares for it.
Also, we tend to take family and loved ones for granted and do not give them the attention and love that they truly deserve before anyone else. Blood is thicker than any other worldly relationship. Hence, he implores upon us not to hold grudges, forgive and move on. After the death of loved ones, grudges transform into regret at lost opportunities.
He also gives us ways to remain connected with our kith and kin and make time for them no matter what to avoid regrets later in life.
The Shaykh finally implores us to leave a legacy behind with which people will remember us for the good we did and this could be something as simple as maintaining friendly and loving relations with everyone.

The Knight in Shining Armour & The Damsel in Distress
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi discusses the effects of destroying the ego of one’s husband. One who diminishes ego of her husband, she has destroyed his pride. To pinpoint his mistakes all the time and hovering over him showcasing his shortcomings, is a recipe for disaster. He should be the nourisher and provider in your eyes and he will come to your rescue.
As wives, they should choose your words and tone of the voice should be modulated so as to not sound discerning and derogatory. Choosing the word ‘You’ over ‘I’ is what makes matters worse and situations go wayward. The Shaykh gives appropriate examples.
Until the women do not become damsels in distress, the men will not be knights in shining armour!

Qur'anic Duas - Ramadan Khatirahs 2019 - Episode 25
Shaykh Yasir talks about some of the reasons why Allah doesn't accept one's duas right away, including the wisdom behind a delayed response.
Every dua is responded to and as opposed to what we normally assume. The answer of Allah is not necessarily what you have asked which we may not understand always.
Some wisdom behind a delayed response are as follows:
Allah is the Malik.
Man does not have a right over his Creator.
A delay in response is a trial.
Allah is the Most Wise.
The matter might bring evil.
Allah’s Choice is better than the choice of the servant.
Man does not know the result of his Dua.
Trials bring one closer to Allah.
We must always believe that Allah choice is better than our choice. Allah Qadr is better than our desire.

Qur'anic Duas - Ramadan Khatirahs 2019 - Episode 24
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi concludes the series of the Ramadan Khatirah with the Dua of Ibraheem in Surah Baqarah, Verse 127 -128.
"And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ismael, [saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing. Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are Accepting of repentance, the Merciful."
Why are our deed not accepted by Allah?
If the deed is done to show off and please someone else and not for Allah.
If it makes you feel privileged over the others.
If it makes one feel arrogant about his good deed.
If the deed or charity is done from Haram money.

Quranic Duas - Ramadan Khatirahs 2019 - Episode 23
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi contemplates on the verse below. The context of this verse is when the Muslims first heard of the Battle of Badr and they heard the enemy army approaching for which they were unprepared.
They said,
"Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs."
[Surah Ale Imran, 3:173]
The verse has also been recited in other places in the Qur'an.
"If only they had been satisfied with what Allah and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allah ; Allah will give us of His bounty, and [so will] His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allah," [it would have been better for them]."
[Surah Tawbah, 9:59]
This dua is not a dua so much so as it is a statement. The reason why this verse is so powerful is that the request is included in the statement and we present it as firm Iman. it is an affirmation of one’s Iman and that is sufficient to obtain Allah’s Rahmah and Mercy.

Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous. Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise."
