Ask Shaykh YQ - Episode 01 - What if I Was Born in The Hanafi Madhab Without Knowing What it Really is
It is indeed possible for someone to be born in a certain Madhab without really knowing that Madhab particularly means. What should a person do if they find themselves in such a situation? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi answers beautifully.
A Madhab is a human attempt to arrive at the Shari'ah of Allah. These were the efforts of scholars to codify the Shari'ah. There are 4 Madhabs - Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki and Hanbali. The Madhab is a set of parameters or Usool on how to approach the Islamic text when in a conflicting situation. This is why the bulk of the Ummah follows a particular Madhab to make one’s life easier and is the historical norm.

The Meaning of Intelligence in Islam
What does Aql mean? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi explores the linguistic and Islamic meaning.
Aql means something that reigns over us during times of danger, foolishness and stupidity. The Aqil is a good worshiper of Allah.
Everyone who sins in a state of ignorance and then repents, Allah will forgive them. This reasserts the fact that a Jahil or ignorant person is one who commits a sin and not the one who is blessed with Aql.
The purpose of Aql is to recognize the truth and to shy away from it is utter foolishness, no matter what is the length and breadth of one’s achievements.

Stick With The Mainstream Islam
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi advises the Muslim Ummah to stick to mainstream Islam and avoid mingling with fringe cults, radical movements or anything which is against the bulk of the Muslim Ummah.
What do the mainstream Islam supporters believe in? They believe in the Qur'an, the Sunnah and in respecting the Sahaba. Anyone who tries to find a new cult, radically trying to interpret the faith and preaching it which is against the classical belief that existed from 1400 years is definitely misguiding the Ummah.

When We Had Religion, We Also Had Science
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves into the supremacy and wholeness of our beautiful religion - Islam.
The very first revelation was Iqra. The purpose of the first revelation was that Allah wanted to give Prophet Muhammad ﷺ the knowledge that will be sent from Allah in the times to come. The first Iqra is a reference to the Islamic sciences linked to Allah and the Second Iqra that comes in the Surah is a reference to the derived sciences that we derive.
We are the only religion in the world that when we reached the pinnacle of religiosity, we also had the knowledge of Science. Hence, Allah has told us to first learn the knowledge of religion and then learn the knowledge of the world.
