Discovering & Expanding Your Circle Of Friends

— Throughout life, we experience many kinds of relationships. A commonly used descriptor in many of these connections is the word "friend." We use it to refer to everything from social media acquaintances to our spouses and "BFFs/besties." When someone is a friend, it can mean we have a deep and meaningful relationship with them, or it can mean we are simply familiar enough with them to feel a warm connection. But not every relationship is warm and pleasant all of the time. Sometimes even the closest of friendships can experience challenges due to misunderstanding what the friendship means to all parties, lack of appreciation for the friendship in its current state, misplaced expectations, or other conflicts. Because relationships can be challenging, it is helpful to step back and do a little defining of our circles of friendship. You can't be best friends with everybody, but you can have a meaningful relationship with almost anybody. Valeria Teles interviews Beth Beutler — the author of "Circles of Friendship: A Guided Journal for Learning to Think Clearly about Your Friendships." Beth Beutler loves to help people flourish and owns H.O.P.E. Unlimited, where she Helps Others Pursue Excellence. True Success Comes From An Abundance Mindset

— Celebrating other peoples' success creates an environment of success for everyone. The more we help each other and lift each other up, the more we can achieve ourselves. We tend to focus on other people's failures — schadenfreude is all too common. But a mindset of abundance, not scarcity, can have tremendous individual payoffs. We're accustomed to competing with each other. Instead, we should just compete with ourselves and take every opportunity to mentor, coach, and support others. Like the mutual power of referrals, cheerleading others reflects back on us. Valeria Teles interviews Jeffrey A. Martinovich — the author of "Just One More: The Wisdom of Bob Vukovich." Jeffrey A. Martinovich is a First Gulf War Veteran, MBA, and Founder and CEO of MICG Investment Management, a billion-dollar wealth management firm. After the 2008 Financial Crisis, Jeff rejected three government plea offers, resulting in a 14-year prison sentence. Yet the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed twice, two U.S. District Court Judges were removed, and after nearly 7 years, he was released to home confinement in May 2020 to begin rebuilding his life.
