What Does It Take To Be Healthy?
My conversation is with Michelle Schacherer. She is a CrossFitter, fitness passionate who lives in California. She grew up in Mexico, living under the common modern American lifestyle: Processed foods diet, then, eating less and moving more to be able to reach the perfect woman's body set by the media. After blaming herself and willpower for not being able to keep the weight off, she started trying different approaches until she finally looked for help and was able to learn from inspirational figures the best way to stay healthy in every aspect: Physically, spiritually and socially. This also motivated Michelle to get a certification in Nutrition by the Body Mind Institute. In this episode, Michelle talks about: The truth behind nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle. The process she went through to learn about what was really needed to be healthy (from food, to exercise, to environment and relationships). Natural Foods and Self-Love
Do all knowledge ultimately means Self-knowledge? In Ancient Greece, when the philosopher Socrates was asked to sum up what all philosophical commandments could be reduced to, he replied: 'Know Yourself'. Self-knowledge matters so much because it is only on the basis of an accurate sense of who we are that we can make reliable decisions – particularly around love and work. Although my conversation with Howard Chasser was meant to be (mainly) around the topics of the Natural foods business and organic foods, we expanded and talked about self-knowledge, spirituality and philosophical ideas. Howard Chasser was practically born into the Natural foods business. His mother opened their natural food store (Jandi's) when Howard was just nine years old. He later went on to earn a degree in accounting with minors in business administration and psychology. Howard joined his mother and brother full time at Jandi's in 1991. He also participated in the passing of DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994). Toxic Skincare Ingredients To Avoid
"Sometimes we let life guide us, and other times we take life by the horns. But one thing is for sure: no matter how organized we are, or how well we plan, we can always expect the unexpected." - Brandon Jenner In this episode, Jill Kay talks about unexpected changes and how health and wellness can create a quality of life for us, both personally and professionally. Before Jill Kay had her children, she worked in advertising. It was a great profession — very exciting, but also very stressful. When she had her first child, Jill left the business to stay home with him. Later, she found herself a mother of two, going through a divorce and having to go back to work. Reestablishing her career in advertising wasn't a viable option for a number of reasons, so Jill started looking for something she could do part-time — something she could do from home. That's when she began the Arbonne business. Along the way, she has made lifelong friendships, regained her confidence, and discovered that "work" can be a lot of fun! Everyone Needs A Healthy Change
Who we believe we are, how we relate to others, and how we engage with the world around us is directly aligned with our purpose. While everybody has a life purpose, many people remain unconscious of it throughout their entire lives. The danger of being unconscious of our life purpose is that we may confuse it with our worldly goals, such as career, making money, and being successful. – Writes Jayne Stevenson In this episode, Yaron Bedid talks about change, purpose and organic foods! Yaron Bedid was an established Real Estate Entrepreneur who in spite of his success knew that he wanted to do something different with his life. Open to exploring new career choices, Yaron saw potential in the organic food market and re-opened the organic food store Jandis. The goal was and is simple: to help others to live a happier and healthier life. What Is Our Basic Intuitive Wisdom?
"Every life lived is an untold story waiting to be written." What I have discovered is that the mind does not know, it only collecting information. It can help me drive a car and remember how to turn on the coffee pot. It can help me spell and write stories that have meaning to me. It remembers (sometimes) where I put my keys and how to get to the store. But when it comes to decision making it is truly inept, a light switch on a fake wall, disconnected from its power source. My mind has gotten me into more predicaments, more trouble than I care to remember but am inclined not to forget. – Writes Candace Conradi In this episode, Candace Conradi talks about the mind, spirituality, and everything else in between! Candace George Conradi is a published author, founder of Writers Inner Circle. She established a live mic forum for writers, Storytellers Edge, in 2013. She was first published in 2006 and has since written and published her books independently. For the past six years, she worked privately with writers, many who completed their manuscripts and successfully Indie published their books. She has since returned to her own writing. A practitioner of Human Design, she has received formal training and is certified as a Living Your Design Guide. A Direct Path to Peace and Happiness
You are always awake, but you are not always consciously awake. In fact, you are rarely consciously awake. And because you've been unconsciously awake for thousands of years in the DNA and softer conditioning associated with the body you thought you were, you'll fall right back into unconsciousness if you don't consistently and actively nourish it with conscious light. You have to be willing to shine truth, even when you don't feel like yourself, even when you don't want to, on things you'd rather leave in the dark. You must hold nothing back. Willingness is your bridge into being the shining on an ongoing basis. You give yourself to the light fully, or you don't give yourself at all. This was written by Fred Davis in "The Book of Undoing: Direct Pointing to Nondual Awareness In this episode, Fred Davis talks about Spiritual Awakening, Non-dual reality, love and more… Fred Davis is a spiritual un-teacher. He studied and practiced Eastern wisdom for twenty-five years prior to 2006, when seeking ended, and his true awakening began. He is the creator and editor of Awakening Clarity Now.com. Fred Davis says he has Nothing to offer. He is also the author of five books, including the non-dual bestsellers Awaken Now: The Living Method of Spiritual Awakening, The Book of Undoing: Direct Pointing to Non-dual Awareness, and Beyond Recovery: Non-duality and the Twelve Steps. Fred's The Living Method of Spiritual Awakening is a process of nondual inquiry, investigation, and direct pointing that encourages immediate recognition and acceptance of our shared true nature, Oneness. Following recognition, The Living Method then helps to orient and clear the seeker-become-finder. Inner and Outer Worlds Transformation
We invest a lot of energy trying to fix things that result from our surrender of responsibility over our own lives, due to feeling disempowered. All of the issues we currently face in our inner and outer worlds, are the result of us having delegated that responsibility to others (partners, doctors, governments, politicians) and expecting them to fix things for us. That, in turn, comes from our early programming, which sets us up to believe that we are not powerful/good enough to orchestrate our own lives. – Olga Sheean In this episode, Olga Sheean explores ways of reclaiming our autonomy by transforming our negative programs, creating new boundaries and making empowered choices that create a positive shift inside and out. Olga Sheean is an empowerment catalyst—a sort of 'archaeologist of the mind', dedicated to excavating the deeper truth buried in every complex, amazing, powerful human being. Using her own unique framework for self-mastery, she specializes in identifying and transforming the negative subconscious programs that drive our circumstances, relationships, self-worth and success. She shows individuals how to reclaim their autonomy, leverage their magnetism, and transform crises and challenges into breakthroughs and strengths. The Science of Non-Traumatic Learning
When you think of "learning" or "education" you may think of acquiring practical skills, scientific knowledge or simply factual or historical information about the world. How to build a house; how to fix a car engine; mathematics; human psychology; history of ancient Greece etc. But what if you could obtain an education which is not only professionally, scientifically or practically useful – like helping to create a new career – but also personally and spiritually expansive in that your life is transformed in some meaningful and permanent way. This is a type of education known as "transformative learning". - aleftrust.org In this episode, Dr. Daniel S. Janik talks about Neurobiological Trauma, Teaching, Transformative Learning and spirituality. Dr. Daniel S. Janik is a retired physician, educator and author, and the owner of Savant Books and Publications/Aignos Publishing. In his "classic" publication: Unlock The Genius Within: Neurobiological Trauma, Teaching And Transformative Learning, Daniel argues for the existence of at least two distinct neurobiologically demonstrable learning pathways: traumatic and transformative learning. The power of transformative learning changes trauma and adds meaning to experiences as well as one's life. Dr. Janik has authored of over 80 publications under a variety of pen names and is the recipient of numerous awards. To learn more about Dr. Daniel S. How the Body Releases Trauma
Carl Jung wrote: "The symbols of the self arise in the depths of the body." People engage in body-oriented psychotherapy to reconnect with their instincts, affirm their feelings, develop healthier relationships, and explore more satisfying ways of working. They want to learn how to embody their deepest values. Along the way, they often form a more realistic body image. They come to know and love who they are, and connect with a life force that is deeper and more meaningful than they have previously known. - The Dancing Body in Psychotherapy In this episode, Setsuko Tsuchiya explains why dance is one of the oldest forms of somatic therapy. Originally from Japan, Setsuko Tsuchiya came to the USA and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts while studying western somatic therapy at Hawaii College of Health Sciences. After becoming a licensed massage therapist, she began wondering if there could be such a thing as somatic (body) therapy that is independent of language and universally applicable to all cultures. She is a member of USA Dance, Japan DanceSport Federation, Japan American Dance Therapy Association, Japan Dance Therapy Association, and an honored fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine.
