Sjoerd Weijkamp #DESIGNtoCHANGE PODcast #BACKstage With Ruud Janssen

Sjoerd Weikamp (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sjoerdweikamp/) is the tireless and prolific owner and publishing editor in chief of eventbranche.nl and evenementenorganiseren.nl In this episode of #DESIGNtoCHANGE we dig into a very special event that he was involved in which was televised across the Netherlands and has become a tradition over the years. A most innovative approach that we encourage you to dig deeper into in this conversation #ONstage with Ruud Janssen. The municipality of Doetinchem, a town in the east of The Netherlands with up to 65.000 inhibitants, became the hometown for one of the biggest televisionproductions in the country: The Passion. The Passion is an almost musical-like live television broadcast, once a year, in a certain city or town in the Netherlands. Normally with a live audience, but due to COVID-19 measures in the preparation, it was decided to organise the event without an audience. The municipality of Doetinchem then opted for various side events in order to not only watch together in locations spread throughout the city, but also to offer added value to a wide range of stakeholders in the aftermath. And so The Passion, a television programme watched by 3 million of the 17 million Dutch people, became the starter motor for a multimedia campaign: from events in the neighbourhoods to improve the quality of life, to a campaign to get back into sports and return to the cultural institutions and, for example, an own performance with the local version of The Passion on the city's square where all the pubs and restaurants are. Sjoerd Weikamp, a live and experience preacher, owner of the Dutch media platform for live communication and experience marketing EventBranche.nl and EvenementOrganiseren.nl and the German NEXTLIVEdcp.com, was allowed to think along and help out in his hometown. How a television show got everything moving again'. The landingpage of Doetinchem municipality: https://www.doetinchem.nl/passion The side events for the next months: https://www.doetinchem.nl/extra-evenementen-side-events-the-passion The sports and culture campaign that came out of The Passion: https://www.doetinchem.nl/terugnaarjepassie Watch the television broadcast: https://www.npostart.nl/the-passion/14-04-2022/KN_1729101 Landingpage broadcastcompany: https://kro-ncrv.nl/programmas/the-passion Online magazine as a summary and a city walk to all the hotspots from the television-show: https://eventbranche.maglr.com/the-passion-doetinchem-wandeling/the-passion-doetinchem-wandeling And ofcourse, for those who love football in the most authentic way: https://www.degraafschap.nl/

Sunil Malhotra #DESIGNtoCHANGE PODcast BACKstage - Designer Series - With Ruud Janssen

Sunil Malhotra (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sunil-malhotra/ ) has a #DESIGNtoCHANGE conversation with Ruud Janssen (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ruudwjanssen/) about Integral Design, Exponential Transformation, Design Thinking, Innovation. Sunil runs Ideafarms, a Design-in-Tech Advisory and Consulting firm that pioneered using concepts and approaches of Industrial Design in ICT. A breakthrough practitioner of Design Thinking, he is a serial Entrepreneur as well as a thought leader in Exponential Transformation. Belief in individual talent and the power of interdisciplinary teams provided the impetus for his founding Ideafarms – a business model based on the simple tenet that 'everything produced by human beings is meant for use by other human beings’. Ideafarms’s user-orientation drives its technology vision and not the other way around, in many ways making the company strikingly different from the norm. Sunil’s entrepreneurial experience spans Design, Consulting, Manufacturing, IT and Exponential tech. He is hands-on and widely travelled: he has done business across the world which has given insights that help him to continually refine the ecocentric design process at Ideafarms. His unabashed stand "India-will-define-the-future-of-the-world" is something you will love to hate. He has professional degrees in Industrial Engineering and Law. After completing his Masters in Industrial Design at IIT Bombay (1985) he ran a successful Design Consultancy in New Delhi, India, that morphed into Ideafarms in 2002. To amplify the responsibility of design in providing a sustainable future, he draws on Eastern philosophies – simplicity, inclusion and local relevance – to create his unique brand of innovation for socio-cultural transformation. Design Thinking is something he believes in yet fiercely criticises for its potential to mislead business leaders. He is the author of The First Principal, a montage of memories of the late academic entrepreneur, Prof. P S Mani Sundaram. You can find Sunil's answers to the #DESIGNtoCHANGE Worksheet 1. Horizons of Change - from page 46+47 of the book #DESIGntoCHANGE as follows: How do you involve others in the change you design for? I try to create conditions (seed topics, build environments, provoke, inspirational content, ...) in the hope that people will be drawn to join and interact with others and artefacts. Basically gravity centres around which communities can form. Call it unplanned organisation. How do the events you design become markers of change in your organisation? Think of it as throwing stones into a pond knowing that when ripples form, some will intersect and create nodes. In a practical sense, provide challenges that people can see as opportunities to explore their own potential in a spirit of collaborative experimentation. How do you have that conversation with your event owner? It's generally led by the event owner who must believe that the organisation will back her with the necessary resources. How do you articulate the value it creates ? I don't lead these types of initiatives any longer.
