Sjoerd Weikamp (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sjoerdweikamp/) is the tireless and prolific owner and publishing editor in chief of eventbranche.nl and evenementenorganiseren.nl In this episode of #DESIGNtoCHANGE we dig into a very special event that he was involved in which was televised across the Netherlands and has become a tradition over the years. A most innovative approach that we encourage you to dig deeper into in this conversation #ONstage with Ruud Janssen.
The municipality of Doetinchem, a town in the east of The Netherlands with up to 65.000 inhibitants, became the hometown for one of the biggest televisionproductions in the country: The Passion.
The Passion is an almost musical-like live television broadcast, once a year, in a certain city or town in the Netherlands. Normally with a live audience, but due to COVID-19 measures in the preparation, it was decided to organise the event without an audience. The municipality of Doetinchem then opted for various side events in order to not only watch together in locations spread throughout the city, but also to offer added value to a wide range of stakeholders in the aftermath.
And so The Passion, a television programme watched by 3 million of the 17 million Dutch people, became the starter motor for a multimedia campaign: from events in the neighbourhoods to improve the quality of life, to a campaign to get back into sports and return to the cultural institutions and, for example, an own performance with the local version of The Passion on the city's square where all the pubs and restaurants are. Sjoerd Weikamp, a live and experience preacher, owner of the Dutch media platform for live communication and experience marketing EventBranche.nl and EvenementOrganiseren.nl and the German NEXTLIVEdcp.com, was allowed to think along and help out in his hometown. How a television show got everything moving again'.
