129: My Millionaire Mornings

I'm addressing another popular question today and that's, "What do your mornings look like?" Let me start by saying that I think having rituals (whether they're in the morning, mid-day or evening) are vitally important to a person's success. These rituals are crucial to my and Lori's self-care, and let's be real, our sanity! Personally, mornings work the best for me. "There is no easier time to take control of your day than in the first 30 minutes of the day." Think about it… the first 30 minutes of your day are the easiest to control. For me, it's the first two hours, but that's the time that Lori and I have carved out of our day as "protected time." We put ourselves first so we can be the best versions of ourselves for others the rest of the day. Here's what the first part of the day looks like for me: Wake up and immediately say my mantra: "I am happier, healthier, wealthier and more fit than I was yesterday." 60-90 second prayer of what I'm grateful for. This list varies and is very child-like, but it really does set the tone of my thoughts for the day (hello, gratitude and possibility!). Pages before Swipes + COFFEE! OK, the coffee is optional, of course, but it's mandatory in our house! ;-) This is my and Lori's rule of reading a minimum of 10 pages before we hit our emails or social media. You never know what you will read or see that can send your day into a tailspin before it even gets started. This has been a game-changer! We used to do 20-30 minutes…or nothing, but recently realized that even 5-10 minutes is plenty to help visualize our day. Something is always better than nothing. "What matters is the consistency, not the amount of time." Moving my body. This is a staple of my success and every single day, there is at least one block of time where I'm going to get sweaty. After we're done working out, we get home, rinse off, and that marks the end of our "protected time." We start our day. Final words... "Dictate your day and your thoughts." Again, I realize that not everyone has the flexibility in their lives to commit to this same schedule, but aside from the workout, this is roughly a half hour of time that can help you start your day right. Don't leave your day to chance. Wake up earlier, break it into multiple smaller chunks of time throughout the day – just do what you can to control your day. In This Episode We Talk about: Why the first 30 minutes of the day is the best time to sneak in morning rituals Chris' morning rituals Chris and Lori's "protected time" Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. 128: From Welfare to Millionaire and the Tools That Got Him There with Christian Mickelsen

I'm so grateful for all the amazing people I've met through my mastermind with Lewis Howes, and today I'm fortunate enough to talk with another fellow masterminder, Christian Mickelsen. I love diving deeper into his story as he tells us more about being on welfare as a child and how that lack of money made him feel then and how it affected his money mindset later on. Christian obviously overcame that lack mindset and it happened when he realized that he's always been "rich" – just not in the traditional way. He now helps others work through their feelings and fears through his coaching and Abundance Unleased events. This is one of the most empowering conversations I've had to date and I know that his insights will help propel you to the next level of abundance in your life and business. -- Question Highlights: What's your favorite quote? What's one of your superpowers? Who is someone who's changed your life? What's one of your favorite accomplishments? What's one regret you have? Can you tell us a little more about your upbringing? When did you start this journey to go from a poverty mindset to a master of abundance? What are the invisible forces that are holding people back? Is your event based on your book, Abundance Unleashed? How can people go to your event? When and where is it? In This Episode We Talk about: The childhood belief Christian had that when you were poor people didn't like you and when you were rich they did The shift that happened when Christian was able to release emotional ties to things (house, money etc.) How Christian incorporated vision boards into his life The top 4 things that drive Christian in life and business Why it's important to eliminate the invisible forces that hold people back Working through fears and other feelings using the "Peace Process" and the "Instant Miracle" Extreme abundance beliefs Christian's event "Abundance Unleased Live" Why all abundances (love, money, health and time) are related Why desires are here to make us grow And so much more… Christian's Thoughts… "If we want more abundance in our lives, we need to get clear on what we want." "Being alive is rich." "The richest person in the world isn't the person with the most money, it's the person with the most gratitude." "If you want to be rich now, start appreciating what you have now." "Having big goals forces us to become bigger people." "Be happy with what you have – and go for more!" -- Christian Mickelsen is a leading authority on personal development and personal coaching and is the author of four No. 1 best-selling books, which include: Abundance Unleashed: Open Yourself To More Money, Love, Health, And Happiness Now Get Clients Today: How To Get A Surge Of New, High Paying Coaching Clients Today And Every Day How to Quickly Get Started As a Personal Coach: Make Great Money Changing People's Lives Change The World And Make Great Money Teaching, Training and Serving Humanity He's the owner of a multi-million dollar coaching business that has made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies 3 years in a row. 127: A Controversial Lesson to Share

Today's topic may be considered controversial by some and I may get judged for it. On the other hand, some may actually like it and have a breakthrough. Whichever reaction this episode sparks in you, I just want to clarify that my podcast is all about understanding how wealthy people think and giving you alternate ways of thinking when it comes to your views on money and how you want to embrace and pursue it. The following story is just one way to personify how wealthy individuals think and act vs. how the everyday person does. So, Lori and I went surfing this past weekend to recharge. We drove down to the beach, unloaded our boards and proceeded to the parking ticket line. Because it was a weekend, you can imagine the line was long (about 11 people deep from our position). Quickly figuring out that it was taking each person around 5 minutes to get their ticket, I knew I didn't want to waste nearly an hour to get ours. So, I walked over to the ticket attendant and asked what the fine would be if we didn't have a ticket. He said $50. With a ticket price of $15, I made the decision to park the truck without a ticket and pay the extra $35. Why? Simply put, the extra $35 wasn't worth my time. Nor was it worth getting ticked off and potentially putting a damper on our day. "Sometimes rules are just guidelines – depending on what your values are." Now I'm sure there were some people in line that saw me speak to the attendant and then park my car without a ticket, and thought, "what a rich asshole." But the fact of the matter is, I was just making a decision based on the result of my time/money equation. "Is it worth X amount of dollars for me to do Y?" Time is the most valuable thing you have, so use it wisely. I would love to hear your thoughts on this lesson. Please share if you had a breakthrough or if you think I should have followed the rules. I love hearing all perspectives. In This Episode We Talk about: Chris' parking meter story Placing a higher value on your time How wealthy people think and act vs. the everyday person Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. 125: When is Enough, ENOUGH?

Have you ever heard the question, "When is enough, enough?" It's a question I've gotten before and I totally understand why people ask it, but I'll be honest…I don't like it. The question instantly makes me feel judged even though it's generally someone's curiosity about what drives you. But the more people ask the question, the more you start to question yourself. Am I working too much? Lori and I talked about this very question the other day on our 10-mile walk. Yes, it's a long walk, but it's a great way for us to connect and also hash out questions/issues like this one. So we determined that for many, the answer is no, it will never be enough. And it's because that particular person is geared to keep going and it's that drive that keeps them motivated. "If we lost our ambition to create abundance, there'd be no extra abundance to share." I want you to think of all the good things being done in this world right now – a great majority of it is from people who have an abundance. Imagine if this "well" dried up? Where would the world be without the high performers/financial contributors of the world? It's these people who were given the responsibility of creating an excess of abundance. "Not everybody has been given the same-sized assignments in this life." This really is a beautiful thing. We were all given different wiring, different drivers and different purposes. If people don't understand where you get your drive from, it's not their fault – they're simply not wired that way. "Some people are called to organize and solve great causes – and some people are called to fund those missions." We all have our role. So maybe you're not creating the amount of financial abundance as others, but what other type of abundance are you contributing that another couldn't? I know personally, it will never be enough. Not until no one is starving, everyone receives an outstanding education, everyone is healthy, the world lives in peace and all natural resources are guaranteed to never run out. So go out there, continue to be unapologetic about your drive and do great things. In This Episode We Talk about: When enough is enough or why it's not How we are all driven by different things Why people don't seem to understand when people don't feel like it's "enough" Resources: Lori's book, A Tribe Called Bliss, is now available! 123: Does Money Bring You Happiness

Today I'm talking about the question I probably get asked the most in regard to my podcast, and that's, "does money bring you happiness?" This can be a complicated question, but I'll try to break down the complicated (not-so-complicated) answer. Money does indeed impact your happiness, but only to a certain degree. I'm a firm believer that money magnifies who you already are. If you're a giving person, you'll give more when you have more money. If you typically give less, you're not likely to give any more when you do have more money. You with me? "An unhappy person with bad habits simply becomes a wealthier person with bad habits." The money doesn't change the person – it just changes their income. But here's what money can do… "Having wealth increases the number of opportunities that you will find happiness." On a scale of 1-10, there's never going to be a 12 – more money doesn't change that. But there can be multiple occurrences of a 10. Money ensures that you'll have opportunities to have "10" experiences. Here's what I mean… If you're traveling and you stay at a Ritz or Four Seasons, you're checked in right away, people know who you are, there's more amenities, the hotel smells nice, etc. – it's a "10" experience. Whereas if you stay at a Hampton Inn or Motel 6, you'll likely have a nice stay, but the service isn't the same – it's typically just good. This applies to your car or family vacation, too. Money doesn't guarantee happiness, but it does provide more chances to feel happy or achieve or maintain that "10" feeling. So I ask you this, do you want a significantly higher number of peak moments (10s) and significantly lower amount of 1s and 2s? Then go out there and start chasing more wealth! In This Episode We Talk about: Why money magnifies who you already are How money impacts your happiness Why having money doesn't guarantee happiness Resources: Lori's book, A Tribe Called Bliss, is now available! I'm always excited to interview my wife, Lori Harder, but today on the eve of the official launch of her book, A Tribe Called Bliss, I'm ecstatic and so, so proud. As the subjective husband, of course I would say this book is a must-read, but because I never sugar-coat anything and am brutally honest sometimes (even with my wife), objectively I would say the exact same thing. 121: The Middle of Your Mindset Journey

Let me start this off by saying I love receiving direct messages on Instagram and hearing all about your money mindset journeys. It helps me keep a pulse on what my listeners are struggling with and also what they're excelling at. So thank you in advance for keeping the messages coming. So, the other day I received a message from a woman who's had a great start with her money mindset journey, but she posed a great question… "What does the middle of the journey look like?" She's done the work necessary in the beginning and is finally at a point where she accepts and wants to celebrate money…so now what? What should she be doing? This is such a great question – and here's the answer: "The middle of your money mindset journey is doing the work to create it." Now that you have the right frame of mind, you're able to attract and accept more wealth. It's time to "do the work to create your wealth." This means starting your business, figuring out that extra way to earn income or finding that side hustle that will help. Full honesty, the middle is the LONGEST part of the journey – but one of the most fun. "You're going to overestimate what you can do in a year, but you will underestimate what you can do in a few." So don't get discouraged or frustrated if in a year you're not where you want to be. Money is infinite and it will find you in time. Be kind to yourself, set a realistic timeline and focus on the small, consistent steps that will get you there. I cannot wait to see how you all are DOING the work. In This Episode We Talk about: What the middle of the money mindset journey looks like What you do in the middle of the journey Learning how to produce the income you want Resources: A Tribe Called Bliss Book Tour See where Lori is headed and get tickets at ATribeCalledBliss.com For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

120: Creating More Certainty in Your Money Mindset with David TS Wood

I am so inspired and proud to call today's guest, David Wood, a friend and mentor. I've learned countless lessons from him over the years and today he shares even more with you. Leaving home at age 15 with only $500 to his name, he spent many years backpacking and eventually landed in Canada. Throughout his journey, he learned early on to let go of the things that weren't working and move on to the next. This practice (along with the gift of certainty) served him well and he now coaches thousands of other people who are looking to become more successful and make it an impact at the same time. David is unapologetic about his success and life, and has a heart of gold – making it a point to give in some way, shape or form, on a daily basis. Tune in to hear all about his journey so far and also what he uncovers about me and my money mindset that I never even thought about! -- Question Highlights: What's your favorite quote? What's one of your superpowers? What's one thing you're afraid of? What's one of your favorite accomplishments so far? How did you get so much compassion? How did you develop your coaching style? When did you make the shift from troubled backpacker to the success story you are now? What is something that someone can do to gain certainty? Do you have any rituals or routine that ensures correct thoughts in your mind? What is something you're working through right now? When did you start to value money? What are the different money archetypes? Why do people have walls up around money? In This Episode We Talk about: How David gives on a daily basis Accepting others beliefs and still keeping your own How David went from troubled backpacker to success story The importance of certainty, transparency and authenticity David's daily rituals and routine How meditation changed David's life How David working on his focus to amplify his impact How David is enjoying living in the moment David's association with money growing up The four different money archetypes – hoarder, spender, money monk and avoider David's impactful moments of giving Why your money mindset is a learned behavior Why environment is so crucial when it comes to living your life unapologetically And so much more… David's Thoughts… "When you consciously live in the unknown zone, it's all about self-trust." "I never held onto things unless they were working." "Certainty is sexy." "The brain is not designed to make us rich and happy." "The only world you know is the one you're in." "It wasn't about being wealthy; it was about creating freedom." "It's not about how much money we make, it's about how that money works for us." "My wealth can only grow to the extent I grow myself." "Right time. Right vehicle. Right you." "The feeling of the need to apologize is because you want something that doesn't match the environment you're in." -- Crazy, rebel, misfit, troublemaker, are a few of the adjectives that have been used to describe David T.S. Wood, some others are, humanitarian, pinnacle leader, multi-millionaire, adventurer, master educator and goofball. David is as comfortable leading a team to the 19,000-foot summit of Kilimanjaro, "The Roof of Africa," as he is brainstorming with billionaires about changing the world. He has trained over "one million" students from all corners of the world, and regardless of the venue, the language they speak or the duration of his program, his students ALWAYS describe him the same way: fearless, transparent, authentic, hilariously funny, effective and life changing. His radical, non-apologetic approach is not for everyone; it's definitely not for the faint of heart, or for the person who is not ready for change, the person who is content to sit on the sidelines and watch the game of life being played out in front of them by others who are tired of the status quo or playing by the rules. David continues to work all over the world helping his students break through their fears, create freedom and design extraordinary lives. He likes to say, however, that his greatest accomplishment is being the proud father of his two son's Calvin and Ben. -- Resources: IG: @davidtswood FB: facebook.com/davidtswood Lori Harder's New Book: A TRIBE CALLED BLISS is Now Available! -- For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.
