139: I Found I Out That I STILL STRUGGLE With This...

This week, while going through the decision-making process of buying a new car, I had a surprising moment of self-discovery... I still struggle with my money mindset. Let me know if you can relate. Many of you know, that I previously owned a Ferrari, and it was a dream come true to own one. However, there were a couple reasons why this car just wasn't working for me anymore. Lori didn't enjoy the Ferrari like I did. Being more of a race car, it's not as comfortable, loud and just different to drive. She did like it and tolerated riding in it because she knew how much I loved it. Full honesty, there were a lot of times where I just felt weird about driving it. You'd either have people yelling nasty comments or others who when stopped at a light snapped pictures like paparazzi. It was a lot of extra attention and it didn't always feel good. Here was my dilemma though, and where I still realized I struggled with money mindset. I had some resistance around letting my Ferrari go, because letting that go meant I was also getting rid of that attention because even though it sometimes annoyed me and I loved it, too. By parting with the Ferrari, I was letting go of part of my perceived significance and what it represented. And that's when it hit me. I wasn't being unapologetic about wealth! I was letting what others thing influence my feelings – and this is exactly why I do a podcast around money mindset! You teach what you need help with the most, am I right? "We are all significance-seeking machines." And this is OK! It doesn't matter what significance we seek as long as it fits in with your moral compass and how you want to show up in the world. So if you haven't mastered your money mindset yet, don't beat yourself up – I haven't either! No one has. "Growth is the goal – not perfection." I obviously still have small money mindset battles in my head, but I'm learning from every one of them – and I know you will too. In This Episode We Talk about: How Chris discovered that he still struggles with money mindset Why we're all searching for significance Growth over perfection Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. 138: Believing Your Way to Success with Danny Morel

I love hearing success stories – especially from individuals who found theirs from the ground up. My guest today, Danny Morel, is one of these stories. Considered the "man of the house" at an early age after a cross-country move from New York to California, he shouldered a lot in order to protect and provide for his family. From driving at age 13 to starting his first business at age 18, he knew he was wired for more in life. Since that time, Danny has run successful businesses, only to lose everything when the market crashed, and once again fought his way back to become the owner of several businesses that earn more than $40 million in revenue. Crediting much of his success to his thought process, he unknowingly (and luckily for us) lays out a step-by-step plan to help others get what they want, too. You definitely don't want to miss this inspiring and motivational conversation. Oh and if you're in the L.A. area July 11-13, be sure to get to tickets to his Relentless event. There will be some incredible speakers and I'm so bummed I can't make it. Check out how you can get a free $199 general admission ticket in the Resources section! -- Question Highlights: What's your favorite quote? What's one of your superpowers? What's one thing you're afraid of? What's one of the most memorable speeches or messages you've ever given What's one of your favorite accomplishments? What did your upbringing look like? What is one of the greatest lessons/personality traits you took away from your situation from age 13-18? How did you think you'd be able to buy your mom a house by 21? What does it feel like to own businesses that earn $40 million in revenue? What's your advice for those people who aren't making it happen? How did you get such big names to speak at your Relentless event? Talk us through what "Morel means something" means when you say it to your kids. In This Episode We Talk about: How Danny's family struggled with their finances early on Danny's early driving experience at age 13 Danny's first business at age 18 How Danny learned to get comfortable with pressure Reverse engineering your plan to get what you want Danny's four-step plan to achieve your goals The difference between just action and "massive and inspired action" Hitting rock bottom when the market crashed and how he came back Why Danny believes in books, events and all learning Danny's desire to do things with excellence and in the biggest way possible Why real wealth and success come from a healthy mind and spirit And so much more… -- Danny's Thoughts… "I was always wired to want more in life and likely so because I didn't have it." "Pressure is privilege." "Biblical abundance doesn't mean you get a lot. It means more flows through you." "Wealth and success is the byproduct of a wealthy and successful heart and soul." -- Danny Morel is an author, broker, business owner and leader in the Real Estate industry who resides in Southern California. With over 20 years' experience in the real estate business as a coach, mentor and broker, he embarked on a career as a salesperson at 19. By 27 years old, Danny had earned 1.5 million in commissions during the course of one calendar year. Even more impressive was his ABSOLUTE commitment to creating a leveraged business. Danny successfully closed 150 transactions that year while only averaging 4.5 days a week of work, while others struggled to close 30 transactions while working 7 days a week. His passion for others led him to teach the EXACT principles he followed as a sales person to others through his brokerage that started at zero and within 5 years of opening achieved 800 million dollars in sales annually. In 2017, his brokerage closed nearly 1 billion dollars in sales volume in only its 6th full year in business. His companies have been featured on the Inc 500 and Inc5 000 lists as one of the fastest growing companies in America between 2015 and 2017. People that work with Danny experience transformations that are typically unheard of. 30, 50 even 400% increase in production within 12 months are common play. In 2017 he authored his first book, The Resilience Road Map to provide his step-by-step philosophy of success to entrepreneurs worldwide and launched M.PIRE University, an online coaching university for entrepreneurs now hosting hundreds of clients. When not working on improving the lives of others, Danny enjoys time with his beautiful wife, Claudia and their three boys. -- Resources Instagram: @dannymorel RelentlessEvent.com July 11, 12, 13, 2018 | Los Angeles, CA **Get a BONUS General Admission Ticket!** When you buy a ticket and following me at ChrisWHarder on IG, I'll pay for an additional General Admission ticket (value $199) for the first 10 people who message me with a receipt (I'm offering 5 and Danny is matching an additional 5!) -- For more stories and tips on becoming unapologetically wealthy, follow me @Chriswharder on Instagram and check out fortheloveofmoney.com.

137: How to STAND OUT to Stand Up for Your Message

I've been noticing lately that there are just too many people who are invisible that need to be seen and share their message with the world. Have you noticed that? Do you ever feel invisible? Perhaps while being an onlooker you wonder how someone's business is killing it, but you question why or how they're doing it. Here's one of the main reasons… they STAND OUT! Full honesty, it's hard to stand out today. There's so much going on in social media and there are so many people doing similar things, so you need to find a unique way to get noticed. "Crack the code and find out how to stand out to get your message heard." It's all about grabbing someone's attention by flashing something "shiny." Lori and I sometimes call it the "bait and switch." For example, Lori will show an image of herself that shows her abs, but instead of talking about fitness she'll talk about self-development and what she's passionate about teaching. It's all about getting people to take noticed and then teaching or telling your message. If you don't want to be invisible, it's imperative that you stand out. And this doesn't just apply to social media, it applies to everyday life, too. Make sure what you're putting out there not only gets you noticed, but supports your message. "If you don't catch people's attention, your great efforts to create impact will not be seen." Here are a couple tips to help you get started: Get resourceful. This means ZERO excuses. It's not about what you have, it's about using what you've got. It's about everything that makes you, YOU – your unique style, manners, sense of humor etc. Stop being so humble! Nobody is SEEING you. Stop worrying what other people are going to think and share your message. The right people will see it – trust in this. It's time for you to stand out in order to stand up! What are you going to start doing RIGHT now to start standing out for your message today? I can't wait to hear and see just how you're going to grab all of our attention! In This Episode We Talk about: Why it's so hard to stand out today What it means to "bait and switch" How to get noticed Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. 136: How PLAY Can Boost Your Business with Rob Murgatroyd

It was a blast to sit down and talk with one of my best friends, fellow entrepreneur and podcaster, Rob Murgatroyd. He's changed my life in more ways than one, but I'm most grateful for him and our friendship because he taught me how to incorporate more play into my life. Because what fun is being successful if you can't enjoy it, right? Today Rob is sharing how he finds balance between work and play and why you're doing yourself (and likely your business) a disservice by not finding it. He admits that it's not always the easiest task, but if you focus on what you really want your life to look like and create the plans to go along with it, you'll be well on your way. It's my hope that this episode encourages and inspires YOU to get out there and PLAY hard! Question Highlights: What's your favorite quote? What's one of your superpowers? What's one thing you're afraid of? What's one of your favorite accomplishments? How does giving continue to drive you? How do you balance your chiropractic business, podcast and travel? What is the first step for people to help them see there's a light at the end of the tunnel? What do you find when you ask entrepreneurs about where they find their play and balance? How has tribe influenced your level of play? Why is it so imperative that we make time for play when we are so driven and successful? What's another example of a hard-driving entrepreneur that you've had a major influence on to play more and how has it influenced their business? Who's the perfect candidate for your new mastermind? In This Episode We Talk about: Why Rob felt compelled to fund a baby's heart surgery Why Rob is so passionate about traveling The balance between work and play Creating plans around what you want your life to look like Why the lives of high-level entrepreneurs are out of balance How Rob has influenced Chris and Lori's views on play Getting out of our comfort zones What Rob's "envelope goal activity" is all about Why masterminds work Rob's new and different mastermind that mixes business and play And so much more… Rob's Thoughts… "You are so much more than your business." "Once you change your physical environment, you come back refreshed with new ways of thinking." "There's nothing spiritual about a bread line." -- I have overcome my share of obstacles in order to architect the life of my dreams and uncover the key to lasting, meaningful success. Growing up in Queens (literally on the wrong side of the tracks), my early years were tumultuous, marked by hardship and violence. With home being a less-than-idyllic place, I clung to work and education as my ticket out of the bedroom I shared with three brothers, and the low-income reality of the life my parents couldn't seem to escape. The minute I was old enough, I threw myself into any job I could get my hands on, from washing cars at filling stations to washing hair in salons. In hindsight, the high-end neighborhood across the tracks (home to the doctors and lawyers) likely played an unconscious role in my decision to attend school to be a chiropractor. Post high school graduation, I moved to Atlanta to complete my training and never looked back. Over the next decade I built a successful chiropractic practice, welcomed my first child, experienced the heartbreak of a challenging divorce, found healing and redemption when I met and married my wife, and read a book that changed my life and uncovered for me the world of lifestyle-entrepreneurship. That book was The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris. Having spent my entire life thus far in relentless hustle mode, I was ready for the PLAY HARD side of the hard work coin. My wife and I wanted to escape the grind and travel the world, so we did. In 2006 we launched our travel/lifestyle Blog 'Jetset Life' and my all or nothing tendencies showed up for the party. Predictably, poppin' bottles on yachts grew old and I became aware that once again my life was out of balance and I felt disconnected and unfulfilled. THIS was the pivotal moment I decided to apply myself to mastering the counter-balance between the science of achievement and the art of fulfillment. From THIS, the Work Hard, Play Hard podcast is born. 135: It's OK to Change Your Mind

Today's topic can be a taboo topic to talk about because there are so many conflicting opinions out there as to why a person shouldn't or can't change their mind. While I completely agree that you can't change your mind on a regular basis, I also believe that if you don't like the path you're on, it's OK to change your mind and get off it. In fact, in this episode, I'm giving you "permission!" There are a couple moments in my life when I did the unthinkable and changed my mind – and they weren't small decisions at all. The first is my brief stint in college. I didn't want to be there. I wanted to be out in the world and making money, but I also wanted to make my parents happy. So I stayed and sabotaged my grades by not engaging (Books? Who needs those?) and excessive partying. Needless to say, I was kicked out. I share this story with you for two reasons… Don't take the roundabout way. Take the direct route. I was right! I made it to the outside world and made $75K in small-town WI – 20 years ago! Another impactful decision I made was to leave the small investment company I helped found. While we were very successful, it just never felt "right." Fortunately, I learned from the past and had a talk with my partner and bowed out of the business. FYI – this business has since done billions of dollars in investments. It goes to show you that it's not always about the money – it's about what makes you feel the best, too. "A lot of money in itself isn't necessarily worth it – fulfilling money in itself always is." Be prepared though. When you change your mind abruptly you'll likely have to change your mindset around different things as well. With big decisions often come many mini decisions to help support them. Whether it's your spending habits, living situation or lifestyle… nothing is off limits. But if it's keeping you on your path, it's worth it. "It's OK to change your mind just for YOU." When you follow your intuition and what feels right, good things are bound to come your way. Wherever you're stuck – be it in a relationship, your career etc., it's within your power to change it. How empowering is that? It is my hope that this episode gives you permission to change your mind when the path doesn't feel right. But once you do, make sure you follow suit and take ACTION. 133: Who Are You NOT To??

While on Lori's book tour I've found myself in a state of awe watching Lori serve others over the past couple weeks – even when sick. Yep, she was sick and still showed up and rocked the stage to help others make lasting changes in their lives. So it got me to thinking… With all these people in the room, including myself, I realized that ALL of us are capable of doing that based on the gifts we were given. We all have unique talents that we can use to create a solution for people in pain. "You have a responsibility to get over yourself and do this." Set aside those nerves, your worry about what others will think etc., and start serving. Can you imagine what this world would look like if every person had a solution to someone else's problem? So I ask you, who are you not show up and serve your solution? Keep in mind that everything is an energy exchange. Many people use money as that energy source, but it's not always the case. "When you gift your solutions to other people's problems you are gifting them energy." And by pushing out your energy/solution to more and more people, you have the potential to become wealthy. Don't let others suffer when you have a solution they need. So get out there, show up and serve others with your talents! In This Episode We Talk about: Chris' revelation while on Lori's book tour Serving others and creating a solution for their problems Why everything is an energy exchange Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind. 131: More People NEED YOU Than You Think

Today's episode is all about flipping your perspective upside-down and leaving you empowered to find more customers to build your dream(s) and wealth. Get ready… "There are more people out there who need you more than you need them." Here are two reasons why I love this statement so much. There are plenty of people that need what you have to sell whether it's a product, service, talent etc. You don't need anyone, however, you can desire people to partake in what you have to offer. Saying you need something comes from a place of lack, and we know that we don't operate from that place, right? We all have individual talents and abilities and we need to share them. Sure, there may be someone else or another company who's doing something similar, but they're not YOU. So before you let your inner dialogue run away with phrases of lack (I'm not good enough; no one wants what I have to offer etc.), realize that there are 7 billion possible takers in this world… The odds are clearly in your favor. "There is more than enough to go around." Isn't that empowering to think that there's just people who haven't found you yet? But don't get lazy… it's still your no. 1 job to find these people. Do the work, outreach, marketing and whatever else you need to do to make it happen. In This Episode We Talk about: Why people need you more than you think Why it's your job to find these people Banishing the negative self-talk around your skill, product etc. Resources: Now accepting applications for the 2019 For the Love of Money Mastermind.
