It was a huge week for Detroit Lions news and rumors and Chris and Jeff are here to break it all down for you. Detroit Lions Podcast Preps For Hard Knocks The Detroit Lions have been selected for this year’s season of HBO’s Hard Knocks. What an amazing opportunity for the Lions to show their personality, heart, grit, and the culture that they are building in Allen Park. After some rock bottom years under Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn, the Detroit Lions have rejuvenated the organization’s culture in a year under the stewardship of Sheila Hamp, Brad Holmes, and Dan Campbell. This will certainly be on display for the rest of the league as HBO follows the team through the preseason. On the same day, the NFL announced that the 2024 NFL Draft will be held in the City of Detroit. This is a great opportunity for Detroit to continue to show the world that it is a first class city on the rise. We will, of course, have some amazing coverage, and be there for all of the action. Generally the top 10 picks aren’t seen as being as valuable as in most drafts, which adds an interesting spin when trying to divine what teams might do. During today’s coverage we are joined by Russell Brown from Woodward Sports to talk about the draft, what the Detroit Lions might be doing, and a few scenarios that could play out along the way. This is the first installment of our in-depth coverage on the road to the draft. We’ll also have Emory Hunt on the show to do a deep dive on the draft, and we’ll have at least two mock draft shows, gathering opinions from some of the best voices in the space. This week Jeff Risdon is back while we get everyone up to speed in the Detroit Lions race to Free Agents in the NFL. There is a lot for the team to button up ahead of the open of NFL Free Agency on March 16. We’ll be joined for a portion of the show by special guest Scott Bischoff to cover many of the topics of the day. The Super Bowl is over, Matthew Stafford finally won himself a championship, it wasn’t in Detroit, so let’s move on. Now begins the biggest season of hope for the Detroit Lions, the offseason. With Free Agency coming followed by the 2022 NFL Draft, we decide to rank the Detroit Lions offseason needs in order from biggest need down to where they are most positionally secure. We’ll also start to contrast the Detroit Lions biggest free agent and draft needs against where that talent falls in the 2022 NFL Draft. Detroit Lions Podcast Talks Coach Changes The Lions quietly made changes to the coaching staff by removing Inside Linebacker Coach Mark DeLeone. It took almost three days to break from when the change was made, congrats to Justin Rogers for chasing this down and reporting on it first. The team was very quiet about the change and wouldn’t elaborate on why the change was made. We’re back in studio after a long week at the Senior Bowl. The Lions news hasn’t stopped, and neither have we – I mean a little cold rain couldn’t stop us, why would anything else?
