Its finally here, the 2022 Detroit Lions NFL Season has kicked off against the Philadelphia Eagles! After an off-season of growth and improvement by both the Lions and Eagles, the rubber finally meets the road and we get our first chance to see the fruits of those labors. This week Chris and Jeff get together to discuss the latest from the Detroit Lions ahead of the start of the 2022 NFL season and the final episode of Hard Knocks. The Lions ended the series in a grand fashion, and we got to see a whole lot more of what makes this team tick. It obviously bodes well for the locker room, but will it translate to performance on the football field? Detroit Lions Podcast Gears Up For 2022 NFL Season With the preseason wrapped, the Lions begin their preparation for their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles today. All the questions that remain will be answered in the coming weeks, and we’ll start to get a sense of the fruits of the labor invested by the front office in building and coaching this team. Detroit Lions fans are in a hopeful place as they set off on what might be their most difficult matchup of the season, but we also know the coaching staff has had this game circled on the calendar for a long time. Will the team’s preparation be enough? We’ll take a look and discuss what we see. There are a few Detroit Lions injuries to discuss, the biggest one (both in size and impact) is Halapoulivaati Vaitai. His back issues have the team working on their back up plan out of the gate. What does this mean for the Lions in week 1 as well as going forward? We got you covered on that one. This week Chris and Jeff get together to discuss the latest from the Detroit Lions preseason and Hard Knocks. The Detroit Lions just faced one of the most difficult days of the year for a front office that actually cares about its players. The Lions cut their roster down to the NFL mandated 53 players as well as assembled their practice squad of reserve players. Detroit Lions Podcast First Look At The 2022 Roster Across the league, over 850 players were notified that their dream of playing football in the NFL was likely over. Some will find a place on other teams, most will find that they’ve come to the end of their playing career. Its a difficult day for many, and for Lions fans, having seen many of their team’s players up close on Hard Knocks this year, its just that much more difficult. The Detroit Lions have selected the 53 players that will lead their team into battle this year, we’ll provide our first look and share our thoughts. This week Chris and Jeff get together again to break down the latest from Detroit Lions land. With the first preseason game in the books last night and the first episode of Hard Knocks having been released this week, there is a ton to talk about. Detroit Lions Podcast Preseason Breakdown We’ll start with a recap of the first preseason game of 2022 in which the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons faced off at Ford Field. The NFL Network pulled some shenanigans on out of market watchers (which is why we 100% want the NFL not to bring the Sunday Ticket in-house) leaving us without a (legal) way to watch the end of the game in which the Lions squandered their lead and lost the game. That cost Chris $2, but its not the end of the world… We’ll talk about who shined and who stunk, we’ll also cover the first episode of Hard Knocks this week. What a great episode. Having watched it numerous times, we can say with certainty, you can’t help but love these coaches and this team. We’ll also discuss the big picture for the Detroit Lions. This week Jeff is off taking care of some personal business, and Chris is joined by long time SVP of Communications for the Detroit Lions, Bill Keenist. Bill has a million stories to tell about the Detroit Lions and their coaches and General Managers throughout the years, and on this show, we’re going to let him spill it all. This will be the episode where Lions fans get a chance to connect to their team and get an insider view that they’ve never had the opportunity to get before. We’ll also hear from Bill about his new role as a National Game Rep for the NFL and co-host of the Gridiron Wrap show on WJR during the Detroit Lions Regular season. We have a couple of player interviews coming, some yet to be named Lions royalty will be joining us, as well as some big announcements coming over the break. This train doesn’t slow down, so buckle up, it’s going to be a big summer!
