Women Conquering Craft Beer (Panel Fest 2021)

While the industry has a long way to go to becoming inclusive, equitable, and safe for all, we want to use this time to showcase some amazing women conquering their respective areas of the industry. You’ll hear stories from panelists that are involved in a variety of roles and functions across craft - how they first got into the industry, how they’ve navigated (and thrived) a male dominated industry, where they see the industry going, and more.

The Ups and Downs of Selling Beer in a Pandemic (Panel Fest 2021)
Selling beer in the retail market has not been an easy task over the past 20 months. At a time when business was just awful for everyone in our industry, brewery sales reps were tasked with maintaining buyer relationships, communicating remotely with accounts, pivoting traditional in person brand promotions, and somehow amongst all of this, tending to their own mental health. Join us for an in depth discussion about the challenges that those on the sales front face in a pandemic-era beer market, what companies are doing to assist with mental health issues, creative solutions for increasing retail sales, innovative ways to connect with buyers, and new marketing techniques adapted for our new marketplace.

Staff Training (Panel Fest 2021)
A successful training program requires investment, and investing in your team is one of the best things you can do to better your brewery. The more educated your team, the better representatives they will be for your brand - and the more beer they’ll be able to sell. Having this is valuable no matter where a person works in your company, and having educational systems in place can help bridge the frequent disconnect between departments. In this conversation we will discuss how our panelists have facilitated training that educates, motivates, and results in a more successful brewery.

The #MeToo movement has opened our eyes to harassment and other violence in many realms, including craft brewing. Like many other arenas, the brewing industry has been susceptible to toxic work environments because of its macho bro culture, the commodification of women, and the underrepresentation of diverse genders and races.
Safe Bars, founded in 2013, works to shift these pernicious realities through education, training, and culture change.
Join AJ in Norfolk for the interactive workshop "Brewing A New Culture: Stopping Harassment in Beer Spaces."
Safe Bars has been a fantastic partner to CBP and we are excited to have them as part of CBP Connects.

Defining "Better Experiences" w/Jeremy Storton (Good Beer Matters)
In a nation with nearly 9,000 breweries, serving good beer is no longer enough to claim your piece of the pie. In order to survive and thrive, breweries, pubs and on-premise must evolve to provide "Better Experiences". But, what does that even mean? In this conversation, we will explore different ways to define and provide "Better Experiences."
Once upon a time Jeremy Storton didn’t know the difference between an ESB and an IPA. Now he is an Advanced Cicerone®, IBD certified brewer, BJCP judge, beer educator, content producer for the beer industry, and an award-winning beer writing and podcaster.
What happened in between is a total mystery. His podcast, Good Beer Matters, serves to educate professionals on the craft and culture of beer. Besides the world of beer, he is also a waterman who sometimes writes and photographs about food, travel and aquatic adventure.
