Conscious Creation: How to Create An Ideal Personal & Business Life w/Kelsey Murphy
As moms and business owners, it often feels like we're under so much pressure to do every single thing perfectly, and that makes the balance between our lives and our work impossible to achieve. What is Conscious Creation and how can it help us escape this stress? How can we redefine our roles on our terms? How do we start prioritizing the things that are ideal to us, instead of forcing ourselves into obligations? On this episode, Business and Life Coach, and my good friend, Kelsey Murphy, talks about a new system she has developed to help women show up in the best ways at home and at work. Conscious creation is about intentionally and consciously defining what an ideal life looks like on a business and personal level, and then planning for it. -Kelsey Murphy 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Be intentional about creating epic moments (13:01 - 14:28)We can't do everything with our kids, but what we can do is focus on things that will create memories for them. We need to focus on the things they can remember and treasure, and not for the sake of what we're expected to do as parents. Find the ideal way to spend time with your kids (11:15 - 12:12)We don't have to follow what every other mom does to spend time with their kids. We can spend quality time with them in a way and manner that we're excited about as opposed to something that makes us feel obligated and bored. It starts with us redefining what the ideal looks like for us. When we focus on what ignites us, we receive more of it (16:16 - 18:04) When we start thinking about what we love and what makes us happy, our brains will start filtering out what doesn't fit that vision. Our brain will be wired to start filtering in the right things and more of them will come our way. Guest Bio- Kelsey Murphy is a Business & Life Coach working with Fortune 500 companies, like Facebook & Twitter, industry thought leaders like Marie Forleo and her B-Schoolers, as well as celebrity nutritionists, coaches, and other brilliant humans creating meaningful businesses and lives. How to Thrive as a Boss Mom This Holiday Season
The holidays are a great time, but also a challenging one for Boss Moms. We want to put our families first and enjoy this time with them, but we also strive to make an impact on the world through our businesses. This is a difficult balancing act, and one that can lead to stress, worry and guilt. How can we make sure we thrive at this time of the year? How do we avoid overextending ourselves with obligations and demands? On this episode, we talk about how we can balance all of our priorities over the holidays and actually thrive through it all. This season is a rollercoaster of things that have to get done. -Dana Malstaff 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Be okay with the fact that this time of year is a roller coaster of emotions because so much is going on. Don't feel obligated to do everything this season. To thrive, think about what you can cut and change socially to reduce stress, and how to be minimally profitable without working in our businesses the whole time. Recognize what fills you up and what depletes you, and limit what depletes you. We can also surround the things we don't enjoy, with things we do enjoy. Seek an appreciation loop and lean on the people and community for support.

All Things Mastermind w/Maria Dismondy and Carrie Clark
The term 'Mastermind' is used fairly often in the business world, but many entrepreneurs still aren't sure what joining one of these groups entails. What is a Mastermind, and how can we use them to benefit our businesses? Why is it necessary for Mastermind members to challenge each other? How can we offer different viewpoints without offending other members in the process? On this episode, owner of the Speech and Language Kids website, Carrie Clark, and founder and CEO of Cardinal Rule Press, Maria Dismondy, discuss what makes Masterminds so beneficial to business owners. A good Mastermind is a group that helps you whittle down options. -Dana Malstaff 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Use Masterminds to challenge ideas (10:48 - 11:49)Masterminds are the ideal space for ideas to be shared and challenged. We should be using our groups to help each other brainstorm our ideas in different ways. The benefit of this kind of input is ultimately creating a more thought-out product. Take advantage of the different viewpoints in Masterminds (15:25 - 16:22)Having a tight-knit Mastermind with different views allows us to narrow down ideas and options more easily. This is an important step, because it stops us from becoming overwhelmed by all the suggestions we get from like-minded people outside our groups. Maintain mutual respect for all Mastermind members (20:41 - 21:51)For Masterminds to be effective, we have to have a mutual respect for everyone in our groups. This respect makes it easier to challenge one another, without running the risk of offending anyone on a personal level. How to Run Your Business Like a Home
As Boss Moms, we have a responsibility to nurture our families and our businesses, but sometimes, it can feel overwhelming to tend to both at once. How can we stop questioning our abilities to run a business while parenting? Is it possible to channel the same love we have for our kids into our businesses, and how do we know which to prioritize at any given moment? On this episode, we learn how to run our businesses like a home. As a boss mom, your business and your family are both priorities. Channel the same love into both! -Dana Malstaff 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Moments, when we feel unenthusiastic, don't define our abilities. Temporary disinterest doesn't mean we're incapable of fulfilling our responsibilities. While we may feel overwhelmed at times as moms, our love for our children never subsides. We need to channel that same, unwavering love into our businesses. Stop wondering if business or family comes first; as Boss Moms, we have a priority to nurture both.

Boss Dad Spotlight: Tim Schmoyer On How to Build a Business Around Your Family
We often think of our businesses as our babies, but at the end of the day, what really matters is our actual families. Is it possible to run companies while staying actively involved in our kids' lives - and what happens if we have large families? How can we build businesses around our families, rather than the other way around? On this Boss Dad Spotlight episode, leading YouTube strategist, Tim Schmoyer shares how to build businesses that serve our families. 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Run big families like businesses (08:30 - 09:42) Having a big family should never be a hindrance to entrepreneurial success. Think of having a growing family the same way as a growing business: as we expand, we need to work on finding better systems. Having a large family is not a barrier to owning a business- in fact, if we can master the systems to coordinate a big family, we'll probably be more productive in our businesses, too. Prioritize family over business (10:49 - 12:29) Business decisions are relatively easy to make- but they're not always the best decisions for our families. As entrepreneurs, we are in positions where we're able to decide when we'll travel for work. We need to prioritize our time according to what matters most to us, and our families. Disconnect to connect with family (16:51 - 17:39) It's easy to get wrapped up in business round the clock, especially when work and emails are available on all our devices. To combat this, disconnect. For 24 hours on a weekend, put phones on airplane mode and switch off computers. When we aren't constantly being bombarded by work reminders, we're able to relax and enjoy time with our families. There's no need to sacrifice family for work. It all comes down to the way we manage our time and the systems we use to coordinate our activities. From time to time, we need to disengage with work and give our families our full attention. Our businesses may be our second babies, but there are times when they'll need to come second to our actual babies. Guest Bio- Since 2011, Tim Schmoyer has been one of the leading YouTube strategists in the online video industry. His company, Video Creators, has been featured by FOX, Forbes, BBC even YouTube themselves as his team trains creators and brands to master YouTube and use it as a place to spread messages that change lives. Their clients have organically grown by over 14 billion views and 61 millions subscribers under their guidance. Today he lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife and seven children. Throwback Thursday - Episode 370: Nurture Your Business: How to Figure Out What Problem You Solve
For this week, the team and I decided to do a Throwback Thursday, dedicated to an episode that we find important and informative! Here is "Episode 370: NYB - How to Figure Out What Problem You Solve." As human beings, we all want validation. For entrepreneurs, no validation is as great as knowing there's a demand for the problem we solve. Why is it so important to be clear on what we want to be known for? How can we drill down to that problem and turn it into something we can sell or share with clients? On this episode, I talk about some strategies you can implement to define your service and package. You have to fall in love with the problem you solve, not the thing you sell. -Dana Malstaff 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Rushing makes you slower. You'll spend more time putting out fires from mistakes, you won't give strategies enough time to grow legs, and you might end up relaunching. If your name isn't associated with what you should be known for, you're facing an uphill battle. Think about what you want people to know from you and how you can bottle it into an educational package you can sell. Businesses and brands that stand the test of time and make money, in the long run, are built on solving one key problem and really honing in on it. It's important for us to work towards what we want people to know us for. We must also know the key intellectual property we have that solves a problem for our clients. You don't have to know what it is right this second, but you can start getting clarity by thinking of what you're constantly teaching, doing, or creating that could be packaged into a course. That will improve your messaging because you can start talking about the problem so you're not just creating content without a purpose.

How to Jumpstart Your Program Sales
Many of us have developed programs that aren't taking off as fast as we'd like, but while it's frustrating, we have to remember the problem lies with our messaging - not the programs. How can we set ourselves apart from our competitors in our customer's eyes, and can we adapt our messaging to build rapport more quickly? What can we do to avoid being discouraged when we don't see results immediately? On this episode, we're discussing how to jumpstart our programs and set them up for long-term success. The problem is not the program: the problem is the way we're talking about the program. The great thing is, that's fixable! -Dana Malstaff 3 Takeaways Creating a solution to our customer's problems isn't enough: we have to be able to do it now. Prioritization is the biggest step people miss, but it's vital if we want to set ourselves apart. Building trust is key. If our programs are new on the market, we can build trust by simply talking about the content of our programs, and showing that we're knowledgeable on the subject. Stop seeking immediacy. We have to understand that trust isn't built in an hour, so don't be discouraged too easily. We should aim to close someone 30 to 90 days after they come into our space. When we aren't seeing results as quickly as we'd hoped, it's easy to become discouraged and feel that we need to adapt our programs. However, that's not necessary. We can boost our success by providing immediate solutions for our clients and by showing them we know what we're talking about in our space. With that said, we have to remember that immediate action on our part doesn't necessarily mean we'll see immediate results. A business takes time to grow, but as long as we continue to nurture it, we will see the benefits.

Building a Website That Attracts Your Ideal Client w/Samantha Johnston
Having an effective website is a vital element of creating a successful business. How can we build websites that get potential clients to know, like and trust us? Which pages should we be paying attention to, and why is it important to let our personalities shine through on our websites? On this episode, CEO of Neapolitan Creative, Samantha Johnston, shares how to build a website that brings us clients who will not only love our products, but who we'll love working with. 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Get visitors to know, like and trust us (28:02 - 28:56) We've all heard that to be successful in sales, we need to get potential clients to know, like and trust us. The same goes for a website; we have to create awareness of who we are so we can get clients to like us and ultimately, build enough trust so that they're happy to work with us. The best way to do this on a website is by thinking about how visitors will navigate our websites. Build a great homepage to set the right tone (30:05 - 31:00) The first place clients visit on our websites is the homepage, so we need to ensure everything they need to know is available there. This is where we build awareness for new visitors, and provide easy links to those who already like us and are willing to buy our products. Pay attention to personality (32:12 - 33:20) We could have the most beautifully designed website in the world, but if we don't have the copy to match, we run the risk of losing customers. Our copy needs to make sense with our design and showcase our personalities. By letting our personality come through on the website, we attract like-minded people who will not only enjoy our products, but who we'll enjoy working with. Guest Bio- Samantha Johnston is the CEO of Neapolitan Creative. She is passionate about helping clients craft their own brands with style, personality and heart. Samantha loves what she does, and in particular, enjoys being able to uplift and empower female entrepreneurs. To find out more about Sam, visit https://neapolitancreative.com/about/

How to Get Out of Your Own Way By Relentlessly Focusing on One Thing
Many of us aren't reaching our full potential or achieving the massive success we should be because we're not sticking with one thing and seeing it all the way through. We drop things before they've really taken hold, and we change our minds based on evidence that only exist in our minds. What are some of the false things the voices in our heads tell us and how can we debunk them? On this episode, I talk about something very important, which is focusing on one thing so that we can see it through. You can put something out into the world and still reserve the right to make it better. -Dana Malstaff 3 Takeaways We can't do everything at once, or else we dilute the effectiveness of all those things. The market gets confused if we're about too many things. Even if something is not perfect, it's better to put it out there, and get some sort of feedback, instead of only listening to the skewed feedback from the voice in our heads. We have big, beautiful voices, and important things to say, but if we're not consistently saying something repetitive to the audience, nothing will be memorable. When it comes to creating great programs, we are very often our own worst enemies. We stop ourselves from finishing things, because our fear gets in the way. We're either afraid that we'll have to stick with one thing forever, or worried that the thing we're trying to launch isn't good enough to put out into the market. The truth is, the most successful people make it because they shut the fear out, and they are relentless about that one thing till they see it through. It doesn't mean they don't have other things going on, but they know that in order to grow something worthwhile, persistence and consistency on one thing is critical.

How to Build and Run a Business That Gives Us Time & Financial Freedom w/Lars Hedenborg
The one thing all entrepreneurs have in common is that we started our businesses in order to give ourselves more time and money freedom. The ugly truth is, most entrepreneurs have zero freedom. They are constantly stressed and exhausted. As a result, their families suffer. What do we need to do in order for our businesses to give us true freedom? How can we get out of doing low value work? How can we make sure our businesses aren't negatively impacting our families? On this Boss Dad spotlight episode, I'm joined by founder of Real Estate B School and host of the Business Freedom Podcast, Lars Hedenborg. He shares powerful business, marriage and parenting nuggets, while discussing how he built a 7-figure business that still allows him time freedom. 3 Things We Learned From This Episode Know your worth and your dollar per hour value (11:41 - 13:47)One of the biggest barriers to our growth as entrepreneurs is not having a concrete dollar value for our time. Because of this, it makes it hard for us to know what we should be spending our time on. If we know that our time is worth $250 per hour, we won't spend it on $10 per hour tasks. Delegate to elevate (14:22 - 16:50)Entrepreneurs often wear all of the hats in their business, but the problem is, some of the work is something we could be passing off to someone else. Pay them $10 per hour and then we can focus on higher level work. It's impossible to grow a business if you don't know the numbers in it (17:02 - 17:48)The first step to successfully scaling our businesses is tracking and measuring everything we do. Once we know our numbers, we can systematize processes, optimize them and even teach other people how to do the tasks. When our businesses aren't set up with systems and processes, we become chained to them. As a result, our partners and children carry the weight because we can't be present with them. We have to learn that our time is valuable, and that doing every single role in our business isn't noble, it actually puts our families at financial and emotional risks. We have to know our numbers, get a good system down, and bring on people who can help us work more efficiently. This is how we show our children that running a successful business venture can be fun, fulfilling and financially viable. Guest Bio- Lars Hedenborg is the host of the Business Freedom Podcast and the founder of Real Estate B-School, an education and coaching program for top producing real estate agents looking to build sustainable, systems-driven businesses. He is passionate about bringing real-world tools, and strategies to top agents and team leaders so that they can achieve success and freedom in the real estate business.
