Poetry in Motion: League wait continues as dream transfer scenarios are weighed up
There's no stopping Fitzy! Even with football suspended, Poetry in Motion continues on the Blood Red channel (with the thanks to modern technology). Joining Neil Fitzmaurice are Paul Gorst and Caoimhe O'Neill as they look back on a rather bizarre two weeks as the Reds have gone from being within days of claiming their first league title in 30 years to now having to wait for football to return. With football in limbo we discuss the differing view points on how the season could conclude, before getting into transfer talk. Timo Werner, Kylian Mbappe, Kalidou Koulibaly, Adama Traore and Todd Cantwell, what could each of them bring to Anfield and would they fit what Jurgen Klopp is doing with the Reds. And what about outgoings? Could Dejan Lovren, Xherdan Shaqiri and even Sadio Mane be following Adam Lallana through the exit door? Enjoy! Split Opinion: Raheem Sterling | His Liverpool departure and would you have him back at Anfield
It was eight years ago today that a 17-year-old by the name of Raheem Sterling was brought on for his Liverpool debut by Kenny Dalglish. In doing so, Sterling became the third youngest player in the Reds’ history, and over the next four seasons he went on to make 129 appearances for the club, underlining his status as one of the game’s brightest young talents. However, his actions leading up to his £49m move to Manchester City in the summer of 2015 left a bad taste in the mouth of Liverpool supporters that lingers to this day. But is it time to move on? To forget, if not forgive? And with Sterling fluttering his eyelashes at Real Madrid, and history potentially repeating itself, would you have him back at Anfield if the chance arose? Sterling himself hasn’t ruled it out. With Guy Clarke mediating, Theo Squires and Matt Addison go head-to-head in our new podcast, Split Opinion. Blood Red: Werner rumours addressed, why Wright was wrong about Gerrard, and Henderson awaits place amongst greats
Well, this was meant to be the Monday after the weekend in which Liverpool had won their first Premier League title. Despite that, the Blood Red podcast is here with your regular view on the latest Liverpool talking points. Guy Clarke is joined by Paul Gorst, Connor Dunn and Theo Squires to talk transfers, great captains and one player who could be on his way through the exit door at Anfield. We get stuck into the persistent links with RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner, react to Ian Wright's comments that Wes Morgan may have been a better Premier League captain than Steven Gerrard, before talking about how influential Jordan Henderson has become as Liverpool skipper. Before we go, we look into Gini Wijnaldum's contract situation and discuss how that could possibly play out. Enjoy. The Agenda: A bittersweet day for Liverpool fans as void left by football rightfully begins to take hold
There's bigger things going on in the world right now but it's only human if any Liverpool fan had thought themselves that today was going to be the day they finally got to see their side be crowned league champions once again. Just tws wins away from the Premier League title, the Reds would have sealed top spot with victories over Everton last Monday and Crystal Palace this evening. But, of course, both matches were postponed by the outbreak of the coronavirus in this country and across the world. The health and well-being of your family and friends is what matters now but as Jamie Carragher wrote yesterday, football will leave a void in our lives until it returns. And that is the theme of The Agenda podcast, hosted by Paul Wheelock and featuring the Liverpool ECHO's chief LFC writer Ian Doyle. Enjoy - and we'll be back tomorrow with two podcasts.
