213 The Woman They Could Not Silence with Kate Moore

Every so often we read a book that touches us so deeply, so profoundly, that we find ourselves telling everyone we know that they MUST read this book. This is exactly what happened when I read The Woman They Could Not Silence, a mesmerizing story of a woman in the 1800's whose husband had her unjustly committed to a mental institution, her heartbreaking struggles, and her amazing triumphs. This book made me outraged and inspired and fired up, and I am thrilled to have the author, Kate Moore, on the podcast. In today's episode, Kate and I discuss: The attempts to silence women throughout history The story of Elizabeth Packard, whose husband committed her to an insane asylum simply because she disagreed with him How Packard refused to be silenced, and what she did with her voice to change the world Elizabeth Packard's contributions to women's rights and the rights of the mentally ill The law of coverture that dates back about a thousand years and whose impact reached even into the twentieth century – you will not believe this! Some of the meticulous research that Kate conducted, and her fascinating primary sources How women's voices are still being silenced today About Kate Moore: Kate Moore is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Radium Girls, which won the 2017 Goodreads Choice Award for Best History, was voted U.S. librarians' favourite nonfiction book of 2017, and was named a Notable Nonfiction Book of 2018 by the American Library Association. A British writer based near Cambridge, Kate writes across a variety of genres and has had multiple titles on the Sunday Times bestseller list. 212 Teaching Girls About Their Bodies with Lisa Klein

When I was a little girl, I, like most young girls, was sorely lacking a clear understanding of my own body, how it worked, what changes I could expect it to undergo, and so much more. I learned some things about puberty in school, from friends, from my older sister… but I wish I had had a really clear guide that laid it all out. Fast forward to 2022, and I learn that a dear friend of mine from my childhood wrote a book about puberty for pre-teen and teen girls, exactly what I needed, and her book was banned in Florida! Dr. Lisa Klein joins us to discuss: Starting the conversation about puberty with your children when they are young, piece by piece like building blocks. You shouldn't have "the talk" once and be done with it. Ways to talk with your child about puberty and sex without making it uncomfortable for you or them. Answers to some questions your girls might ask that you might not be prepared for. Navigating social media and porn with your child. Teaching puberty to both pre-teens, teens and parents to help create an open conversation between parents and kids so they will feel comfortable asking questions about their body as they get older. Finding out that her book was banned in some parts of Florida, and having her op-ed published in one of the biggest media outlets in the world. About Lisa Klein: Dr. Lisa Klein is a board certified Pediatrician and practices outpatient pediatrics at Child Health Associates, PC in Michigan. Dr. Klein is passionate about all aspects of children's health, but has a special interest in adolescent medicine. 211 The End of PurposeGirl... Welcome to The Institute of WOMAN

Sister, big changes are coming… for me. For you. For US. After 12 years as PurposeGirl, the name no longer fits. I'm not a "Girl" – I'm WOMAN. WE are WOMAN. So, I'm excited to share that that PurposeGirl is dissolving – and we will be reborn as The Institute of WOMAN. This is about our Reclamation. Our Becoming. Our Wholeness. Our FREEDOM. And in today's episode I take you on the very personal journey of this transformation so you understand what lies ahead for me and for all of us. I share: What this means for The PurposeGirl Podcast, our community and you (It's not going away – just growing up!) Why PurposeGirl no longer fits and what a grown man calling professional women "Girls" had to do with it. How hanging onto little people pleaser little girl tendencies kept me small When something inside no longer first, you're ready for REBIRTH What REBIRTH means and how to have one for your own evolution My own growth and evolution as a WOMAN and what that means for you Why Purpose is just one piece… and what the other pieces of our wholeness are A traumatic experience I had earlier this year around me showing up as my fullest, boldest self and being rejected and attacked for it Why it's WOMAN and not "women" – the degradation of WOMAN over time The inspiration for The Institute of WOMAN and the meaning behind the name My shift from Carin to Carina You can have a REBIRTH too. 210 Anything is Possible Italy Update

I have been traveling and working for the past month in Italy. It's been fun and hard at times, but I am truly living a vision board. It's been a dream trip, even with the reality of traveling with a 2-year-old, and the hot sun. I paid for the entire trip by leading a Goddess VIP day, and then leading my S*nsual Goddess Tuscany retreat. Honestly, I have never cried in gratitude so much. This is my life: leading women through the fire so they can be the WOMEN they were meant to be! I share all of this because I want you to know that whatever you are dreaming of, it's all possible. Italy healed and elevated me - becoming softer, stronger, more colorful, more vibrant, more alive, more true, more clear, more WOMAN.⁣ In today's episode, I'm recapping the past month and talking about: How Josh and I learned to slow down and do things differently. To see the world through Shay's eyes and to make even the hard moments fun. Leading a VIP day where we celebrated how special my client is and I helped her reclaim her voice in the city she wanted to go to, but compromised on almost 10 years ago. How we were so into our bodies with joy and aliveness on the VIP day that we were able to create the next 6 months of my client's business in one hour. Being in pleasure makes the creative juices flow easily. The magic from the S*nsual Goddess Tuscany retreat. We started with a sacred ceremony to help the Goddesses remember who they were meant to be. Letting go of all the things that hold us back. And we grieved in a way that the world would tell us as women we are not allowed to grieve. How women who attended this retreat held each other in scared ceremony one minute, and then laughed until we cried the next. You can still get into my Miami retreat! The doors are now open for this life-changing event. To learn more and sign up before all the spots are gone, go to: https://carinrockind.lpages.co/the-womens-happiness-day-conference/ Come celebrate my rebirth on my actual birthday, September 8 at 1:30pm ET https://carinrockind.lpages.co/carins-rebirthday-party/

209 Sisterhood is the Medicine the World Needs with Kelly Mahalak

If you're like me, like so many of my clients, like so many women today, then sometimes, maybe even often, you feel isolated or lonely. Women were meant to go through life in community with other women, but there's been a shift in recent decades towards hyperindividualism, as if going it alone means you're better, more powerful, more capable. But what it's really done is lead to greater levels of depression. In today's powerful episode, Kelly Mahalak joins me to discuss: Some of the reasons why women feel more isolated today than ever before How Kelly and I processed together the turmoil around the overturning of Roe v. Wade What it looks like when women support each other What a different world it would be if more societies were led by the matriarchy instead of the patriarchy How women can effect important change at the micro level, exactly where they are The Women's Happiness Day Conference at the Versace Mansion in Miami Beach in October – Join us! 208 A Very Personal Update

These last few months have been full of turmoil, both politically here in the US and personally, in my own life. Last year held some of the highest highs for me. This year… some of the lowest lows. And so, in today's episode, I'm giving you a very personal update on what's been going on in my life, including: My father's Alzheimer's The pushback and grief I've received from some of my own family members as I've shown up as my full self The major transformations that I've been undergoing this past year in my business, but more importantly, in what I'm here on Earth to DO The support that I've received from my own coach and from sisterhood A revelation that I had about my own "naked" truth My self-marriage ceremony in which I married my dark side The value of sacred, righteous anger And if you're listening before July 27, go to NoSistersLeftBehind.com and sign up for the free sisterhood event that I'm holding with my dear friend Kelly Mahalak.
