#65: Covid and The Law (The Fight Continues)
We catch up with attorney Ryan Heath, our guest from Episode 56. Ryan has been passionate about mask mandates and the law, specifically the negative effects on children from various schools' rigid and unforgiving mandates. Ryan founded The Gavel Project, a new nonprofit organization that provides education and support to the public regarding the recent Covid-19 mandates/issues. Its mission is to fight unethical government/employer mandates and protect the freedom of Americans, especially children. Ryan has been on the frontlines in California and is here to share what has been happening the past few months. He shares the specific courage and patriotism shown by some of the kids affected by the mandates. They are NOT afraid to stand up authority that ignores the law, their rights and freedoms! #64: Best Friends Again
Sometimes frustrating, occasionally painful but ultimately one of the most rewarding things in humanity is what we are serving up today. It’s “Marriage”. Great marriages exist but they don’t happen by accident, they happen on purpose. At a time when it seems impossible to imagine a marriage lasting 30 plus years- we know it’s possible. So do our guests! Dr. Jeep and Vanessa Naum join us today as we enjoy discussing our thoughts on keys to a successful marriage. They have been married nearly 30 years and working with couples since 1994. Their company, Best Friends Again, is a physician marriage coaching company and they specialize in helping couples reignite their marriage through a customized approach based on the unique needs of physician families. Dr. Jeep Naum, is a coach and author who has been a physician for 31 years and a couples coach for 27 years with his wife, Vanessa. She is an MBA and sex and relationship coach. Their 90 Days to Clarity and Connection Program provides a trusted and proven blueprint for physician marriage success. We have fun bouncing thoughts from both of our successful marriages. The ultimate common threads are: trust, communication and living selflessly. (Tim’s guide to a successful marriage also includes: : “Get naked and make me a sandwich”!) kidding….. #63: Fear Is No Excuse: with Eddie Braun
Want to hear from one of the greatest stuntmen of all time sharing his thoughts on “safety”? Tim is man crushing & fanboying out on this week's epic interview with stuntman Eddie Braun. Eddie’s life is an example that “fear is no excuse”. He will be the first to tell you that recklessness is different from planned risk. Doing great things is not necessarily about risk, but having the skills to manage your fears. People are often unable to live their dreams, because they are too busy living their fears. About Eddie Braun: Eddie is not only a stuntman but also a stunt actor and stunt coordinator. His career inspiration and childhood hero was the famous Evil Knievel. In 2016, in full circle fashion, Eddie completed Knievel’s failed attempt and became the only man to ever jump across Idaho’s Snake River Canyon in a rocket. The documentary of his signature stunt has been released on Disney Plus: Stuntman. Eddie is known for endless action credits from the 80’s until now. He has appeared in Dukes of Hazzard, The Fall Guy, Magnum P.I. to films such as The Avengers, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Moneyball, Rush Hour 2. He has doubled for Charlie Sheen, Lee Majors and Chuck Norris and more. #62: Staten Island RINO Hunter- with John Matland
Turning lemons into lemonade is what our guest John Matland has done. Sadly many of you will relate to his story. Like many other healthcare workers across the nation and the world, he experienced job termination during the pandemic. As an imaging technician in a New York hospital, he chose to wait on receiving any Covid vaccines and questioned the reasoning behind selective testing only of nonvaccinated workers. Let’s just say “he didn’t go lightly into the dark night”! John Matland has a vivacious personality and is passionate about making positive changes. He decided to stand up for what he believes in and effect change, one step at a time. He currently is a host on Today’s New Talk (TNT) radio show and has thrown his name into the political ring for NY Congress. That’s right! His story is just beginning- you’re gonna love hearing from him! #60: Compassion & Courage in Covid
Drs. Kirk and Kimberly Milhoan are an amazing physician couple with a unique combination of expertise in Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Anesthesia. They have experienced what happens when speaking out against the status quo on Covid therapeutics , and what that cost is. Kirk tells of how he became subject to investigation by the Hawaii Board of Medicine for a conversation he had regarding Covid therapies. Throughout the pandemic they began to question the evolving push of vaccines over outpatient therapies. Kirk also has concerns with what is happening to children’s cardiac health as a result of using an emergency use injection therapy in our young, with no long term data. They have been actively involved in Global Covid Summit and proponents of the sanctity of the physician-patient relationship, recognizing natural immunity from Covid and avoidance of doing more harm than good with Covid mRNA technologies. Kirk Milhoan has a BA in Biology and Chemistry and a PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology and Pharmacology, focusing on cellular mechanisms of cardiac inflammation, specifically the role of platelet activating factor in activating the myocardial inflammation process. He received his medical degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the Jefferson Medical College of the Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his pediatric residency at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base and pediatric cardiology fellowship at San Diego Children’s Hospital/UCSD. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and American Academy of Pediatrics. He served thirteen years in the United States Air Force as a pediatric cardiologist and flight surgeon. Kim is a graduate of Stanford University, with a B.A. in Human Biology, with a concentration in Public Health and Health Administration. She worked as a health care management consultant for American Practice Management before obtaining her medical degree. She completed her anesthesiology residency, as chief resident, at the University of Health Science Center in San Antonio. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology, and a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiology, with a specialty in Pediatric Anesthesia. She and Kirk co-founded For Hearts and Souls, a non-profit specializing in the international care of children with congenital heart disease. Kirk serves as medical director and diagnostic cardiologist for the organization, and they have voluntarily served the needs of tens of thousands of children with heart defects throughout the world. The organization has performed over 700 invasive pediatric cardiac procedures internationally. Kirk is also the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel South Maui. He and his wife have treated many patients with COVID-19 through their federally recognized free mobile medical clinic in Maui. #59: The Doctor As Patient: Migraine Warrior
We are long overdue for another Doctor As Patient episode. I decided it would be perfect for me to share my own personal story and journey with migraine. Having been a lifelong migraine patient, it has impacted my life since I was 11 years old. I have tried to never let it define me, but living with a chronic illness certainly controls many aspects of your life. I have tried almost every therapeutic option/treatment and now am blessed to have found a game changing new medication that has given me my life back! Along the way I have also had huge empathy for my migraine patients - we suffer in a way that most people will never understand. I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse into my migraine life. There are many great online resources and support groups that I would recommend. As always -message me with any questions! #57: Redefining Strength
I have a slight obsession with a trainer I follow on Facebook and Instagram. I’ve been following Cori Lefkowith of REDEFINING STRENGTH for years, enjoying her motivational posts and loving her targeted exercises for my troublesome injuries. She has great rehab advice that I have tried and tested on my numerous Ortho injuries. She has helped me when many PT’s couldn’t even crack the mystery. She posted something a few weeks ago that blew my mind: “Most people fail because of how they try to achieve their goals.” She went on to write that the date at which most people completely quit on their New Year’s Resolutions...is…..?? It’s not the Summer...Or a specific holiday or event… It’s not the middle of February which was my guess. It’s JANUARY 19th! (This date is based on a study done of over 800 million people’s activities in 2019) Which led me to thinking and asking WHY do people quit so early? What are the stumbling blocks that cause us to give up? How can physicians and other healthcare experts help motivate their patients or themselves even….to realize their fitness and weight loss goals? Cori oozes with energy and positivity and encouragement. She will tell you, you are NEVER too old, too big, too injured ( insert your excuse) to not achieve your fitness goals! She’s passionate about what she does and has a massive following on FB and IG to show it. Today we brush the surface on common stumbling blocks like how to stay committed to your workout routine. What causes people to burnout or quit? How to get over the motivation hump and what tricks/tips help people stay consistent. And then there’s the four letter D word!!!! Cori’s Bio: Cori Lefkowith is the owner of Redefining Strength. Her company is empowering clients through fitness and nutrition while teaching them to train smarter, not just harder. In our culture of “No pain, no gain” and “more is better,” Redefining Strength is teaching clients a more efficient, intentional way to train to get results. We lead busy lives. Our training routine and diet should fit our schedule and help us create a sustainable lifestyle. #56: Covid and The Law: The Fight Begins
Last week the Supreme Court blocked the OSHA vaccine mandate for large businesses. While this is a huge ruling, how exactly did this overturn and how was it decided? During this pandemic we have seen decisions being made based on doctrine. Do administrative agencies have the authority to implement medical mandates based on their interpretation of science? To help us unpack what happened and where we might be headed with this ruling is our guest, attorney Ryan Heath. He does an amazing job explaining how OSHA had over reached their authority and power as interpreted by the Supreme Court. Remember that currently healthcare facilities that operate under CMS ( Center for Medicare Services) still need to comply with vaccine mandates and this is a completely separate path that will play out differently. Time will tell. Ryan Heath is a licensed Arizona attorney with a background in criminal defense. He is also president and CEO of The Gavel Project, a new nonprofit organization that provides education and support to the public regarding the recent Covid-19 mandates/issues. Its mission is to fight unethical government/employer mandates and protect the freedom of Americans, especially children.
