He addresses different issues, traditions of men, religiosity, false humility, pride, insecurities, judgement, and a myriad of issues. As different parts of the body, we major on different revelation. One group’s or person’s revelation will vary from another’s. All of it matters. How we handle conflict where we have different perspectives, focus on different issues, and believe differently from one another is all summed up in the greater revelation and commandment to love as Christ loves. We can disagree about doctrine, but where we allow ourselves to become offended, we are not operating in love. We are one in Christ - in Love Himself, not because we will agree on doctrine. God created His kids as one, but so many of our tragedies, trials, and torments come from the artificial lines that we create. Freedom is a high premium in the Christ-life. It is for freedom that Christ set us free. Love is Who God is and a supernatural command for His followers. This sounds great and obvious until we really dig in. What happens if my freedom violates love for you? Which one wins? What if “my rights” stomp on “your rights”? What are we entitled to? Are we entitled from a kingdom perspective? What does love really look like anyway here? Insecurity presents itself in a myriad of ways. It carries torment because it is rooted in fear. Somehow we are not enough or too much. We hide or try to prove ourselves. When we hide, we fail to contribute to the world the beauty of who we are and what we are called to give to the world. When we are in “prove yourself mode” we also fail to release to the world the beauty of who truly we are, in favor of what we are trying to be. We may share what we are called to carry to the world, but we do it in a way that is really all about us. Letting God minister your “enough-ness” over and over will settle you. He releases the beauty of who you are and the power of what you carry without hiding or having to puff yourself up. Love ultimately mirrors you in His image.
