132: Starting a Product Line from the Ground Up: Evie Swim
If you haven't seen or heard, Evie just announced her latest (and biggest) business venture so far: her own swimsuit line, Evie Swim. She has been working on this for over a year + half and it has been HARD FREAKING WORK. So today's podcast episode is really special and personal as we talk about her journey to starting a physical product line from the ground up. Evie is an open book as she shares her heart behind this company, her growing experiences, her failures, her successes, her biggest tips for anyone else also wanting to consider getting into a physical product or fashion brand. Whether you're curious to hear more about Evie Swim and the story behind it, including raw BTS looks into the creation process, or you're wanting to learn more about creating a startup company of this scale from the ground up, we think (and hope) you're gonna get something good out of this episode. 131: Struggle with Putting Your Worth & Identity in What You Do? Click Play with Zim Flores
If you're a person who struggles with knowing your identity and worth outside of your career. If you feel worthless if no one buys from you, or if a launch isn't as successful as you hoped, and you struggle with having a firm identity in who you are, today's episode is for you. We had the absolute honor of chatting with Zim Flores. Named a leader using her voice and talent to elevate humanity by Oprah Winfrey, Zim is the founder of Italicist, an online styling service that helps women discover modest clothing they love, without the time commitment. Previously she was the CEO of Travel Noire, a boutique travel company reaching millions of travelers each month. In 2017 she sold the company to pursue Christ. A serial entrepreneur, Zim is a Forbes"30 Under 30" awardee who has been featured in the New York Times, ELLE, Glamour, TIME, and NPR, among others. She often writes in faraway places and lives with her husband in Illinois. Zim talks about her story of not feeling like she belonged, feeling hardship as a child to sudden and extreme success. How she navigated and found her identity in who God says she is amidst insane success. Why she gave up a wildly successful business even though everyone around her told her not to (and why it was the best decision she could've made) AND so many more things: like how to be a believer AND a business owner, how to have big goals & desires as a Christian, and so much more. Seriously. Zim has SOOOO much goodness to share, and we promise after listening to this you're gonna wanna be best friends with this girl. She has a way of speaking in such a way that you feel the presence of God and His peace. We know this episode is gonna bless you so much. 129: Embracing Your Dirt > Being the Most Polished in the Room with Mary Marantz
If you are ready to be wrapped up in the warmest, most loving hug of your life AND YET given a shove of encouragement and truth… wow okay wow. Listen to today's show. Today we have the INCREDIBLE honor of talking to one of the most incredible women. Author, speaker, and podcast host, Mary Marantz, grew up in a single-wide trailer in rural West Virginia. The first of her immediate family to go to college, she went on to earn a law degree from the nation's top-ranked law school, Yale. After ditching six-figure-salary law firm offers in London and New York, she started a business with her husband, Justin. Together they have built a successful online education platform for creative entrepreneurs. She is also the host of the highly ranked and popular podcast The Mary Marantz Show. Mary released her first book, "Dirt: Growing Strong Roots in What Makes the Broken Beautiful," in September. She lives in an 1880s fixer-upper by the sea in New Haven, Connecticut, with her husband, Justin, and their two very fluffy golden retrievers, Goodspeed and Atticus. GOSH, we have so many things to say about today's interview, but if you've ever felt like you don't belong somewhere because of dirt in your past or where you grew up, or that you have to hide parts of your story to fit in… this show is gonna wreck you in all the best ways. Today we talk to Mary about her story growing up in the dirt of West Virginia, how our experiences as a child have such an impact on us as adults, struggling with imposter syndrome and encouragement in how to overcome it, and how to handle feeling like you're "betraying" your past or upbringing by chasing "more." 127: Anxiety, Depression, Overwhelm and Hustling to the Point of Hitting Rock Bottom with Amanda Coker
Have you ever hit burnout as a business owner? Ever dealt with anxiety, depression, or overwhelmed because you're trying to hustle your business into success, but simultaneously driving yourself into the ground? Today's episode is for YOU if so. We had our dear friend Amanda Coker on the show to share her story and to give you a much-needed dose of wisdom and encouragement. Amanda is an Atlanta-based photographer and entrepreneur; she is the founder of Dash Photography, a wedding + senior photography team, and Revīv Retreats, wellness retreats for women in business leadership. She believes sharing her journey with mental health and business brings purpose to the pain, and empowers women to find freedom in the midst of theirs. We talked about SO much with Amanda today. Her story of hitting complete and total burnout mentally about 4 years into her business because she wasn't caring for her body, her time, her relationships, and sacrificing it all on the altar of achievement. She chats about how anxiety and depression stemmed from that and the steps she took to take back her life and business. Near the end of the conversation she shares how 2020 personally affected her, and we can guarantee you will relate to even a little bit of her story. It's powerful. It's real. It's encouraging. Amanda holds nothing back, and we hope after you listen to this episode, you won't feel alone if you're struggling with overwhelm, anxiety, depression, and hitting burnout.
