Interview Tips, Commitment and More Answers – PTC 389
We are answering great questions this week. We'll help you with your interviews, talk about commitment, determine how many shows should you have and talk about a bad episode one. You can always submit your question at coach@podcasttalentcoach.com. INTERESTED OR COMMITTED? Last weekend, my son and I travelled to Boston for a junior hockey predraft camp. It was an opportunity for him to play in front of junior hockey and college scouts and coaches. He played well. We got to see my stepsister and visit my daughter. We saw some fantastic New England architecture, which sparked my love again. I still don't regret never using my architecture degree. As I was watching him play, I got to thinking about why some kids make it and others do not. I coach a high school club hockey team. Coaching is in my blood. I've been coaching in this league since 2004. Reece is a freshman on our high school team. He is arguably one of the best players in the league even at 15-years-old. Our upper-level AA team high school team invited him to join their team. The team is another step above our program and travels to play teams in other states. We just play locally for fun. We practice twice a week. They practice three times a week and have two session in the weight room. We play once a week. They play twice every weekend. Sometimes three times. When they asked him to join the team he said, "No thanks. I really don't want to work that hard." You see, Reece is interested in hockey. He isn't committed. He is just playing for fun and doesn't have a lot invested in the game. NOT THE SAME Most people think interested is close to committed. The reality is they are as far away from each other as summer is from winter. Baseball from hockey. If you are "interested", you could be 99% in. When you're "committed", you are 100% in. They sound close. But when you're 99% in, you still have one foot on the dock. It's not even possible for you to jump in. When you are "committed", both feet leave the dock and you're swimming. You're all in, because you have eliminated plan B. You can't go all in and stay dry. You have burned the boats and are committed to reach your goal. When it comes to your podcast and coaching business, are you interested or committed? Imagine having an audience full of your ideal clients waiting to work with you. What would that do to your business? How would your life be different? Would it just be "nice" to have a large, passionate audience? Or, are you "determined" to get there? Do you say, "I'm only interested in getting better"? Or, are you saying, "This is the year I hit my goals … just show me the way and let's go"? I only coach people one-on-one who are committed. They take action. They achieve their goals. Interested people just want to collect info and continue to aim without ever shooting. Ready, aim, aim, aim, aim. Always getting ready. Committed people take action and win. YOUR OPPORTUNITY I've decided to give 8 committed coaches an opportunity. If you want to build an audience full of ideal clients, this is your chance. You can get unlimited 15-minute laser coaching calls with me for an entire year. If you're committed to reaching your goals, here is your chance to take action. Visit www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/laser. THE PLAN 8 people will have the chance to get unlimited laser coaching with me.This will include focused, 15-minute video sessions over the course of one year at a ridiculous deal. Our first call is 30 minutes where we'll confirm your podcasting goals, identify the steps you need to take to get there, and agree on your homework to complete before your next call. You will then receive a recap of the call, confirmation of your homework, and a link to sign up for your next session. RULES There are a few rules. First, I only have so much time in the week. Therefore, I can only take EIGHT podcasters. Next, we need to create accountability to get you to take action and see results. You can schedule as many 15-minute coaching sessions as you like over the next 12 months. However, you must complete your homework before you schedule the next session. WHY? There are three reasons I am doing this. First, laser coaching at an amazing rate allows me to help more coaches, because the calls are focused on the next step on your journey. And, highly-focused, shorter calls will leave both you and I with more energy at the end of each of our calls (than after the 90-minute coaching session I typically do that can get draining at times). Finally, the focused homework makes it easy for you to take action and reach your goals. We get results. GUARANTEE I'll give you a guarantee. If during our first call either of us don't feel I can help you achieve your goals, we'll cancel the agreement and I'll refund your money immediately (so there's no risk). BONUS As a bonus, you will get my "Downloads to Dollars" course as my gift to help you along your journey. That is a $197 value for you. This opportunity will be limited to 8 clients to take action and sign up. The offer ends when the spots are full or on Wednesday (May 25), whichever comes first. If www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/laser goes to my homepage, you know the 8 spots are full. If you want my one-on-one help for less than $84/month, get all the details at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/laser. Are you committed or just interested? Let's see what we can accomplish. Visit www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/laser. INTERVIEW TIPS Let's help some podcasters reach their goals. Our first question is from Ryan. He asks, "Any tips for interviews?" Wow, that's pretty broad. Ryan, let me give you three ways to make your interviews more powerful. First, have a conversation rather than a question-and-answer session. Be curious and learn as much as you can about your guest. Instead of following a list of questions, discover things about your guest by using open-ended questions. Next, get your guests to tell stories. I have a list of questions that will help you craft your questions to help your guests tell amazing stories regardless of your niche. It is called "17 Ultimate Podcast Intervew Questions". You can download the full list at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/interview. Finally, follow a story arc. Take your listeners on a journey. A story arc is just like it sounds. Where did your guest begin? What struggle did they encounter? Get them to describe the transformation they encountered as they solved the problem. Finally, where are they today. Stories have a beginning, middle and end. Your podcast is just like a movie. We meet the hero. They encounter a problem. She experiences a transformation. Everyone lives happily ever after. Follow those three tips and your next interviews will rock. INTERVIEW EDITS Laura also has a question about interviews. She says, "I had a guest ask me to edit something out of a published episode. What do I do?" Laura, your issue is the fact that the episode is already published. If you change the file on your audio host, it doesn't update for those listeners who have already downloaded the episode. It only affects any new downloads. Most downloads happen in the first few days of release. So, most of your audience won't get the update. I would explain this to your guest. Then, see how important the edit is. If it is critical, edit the episode and upload it to your host. Simply relace your old file. If you use Libsyn like I recommend, you can update the media file right on the episode page. If you are not using Libsyn yet, get your first month free by using the coupon code PTC. I've been using Libsyn since I started. That's why I love being an affiliate. I know how good they are. MY INTERVIEW When I conclude an interview, I always ask my guest two questions before I stop the recording. First, I ask if there is anything we missed during the interview they would like me to include. If so, we record that question. I edit the question and response in during the editing process. Then, I ask if there is anything they would like removed. They usually tell me no, but I've covered my bases. Now if they come back later requesting an edit, I can tell them how it won't solve the problem of those who already downloaded the episode. And, I mention that I asked during the interview. Those two questions solve many problems. At the end of the day, keep your guests happy. If it isn't a deal breaker, edit the episode and upload the fresh file. FIRST EPISODE Greg has a question about his new show. He writes, "So...I'm only 6 episodes in. My first episode was rough, not real good. But it has 40 downloads and the next 5 have less than 20 each. So I'm thinking since that first episode was so weak, that I'm not getting repeat listeners. Should I just delete episode one?" Most first episodes aren't very good. Don't worry about removing it. Instead, focus on two other things. First, focus on getting better with every episode. Once you get to episode 20 or 30, few people will be downloading episode one. Next, do a better job promoting the show. It is unlikely you didn't get the 20 people to come back just because the episode was rough. There are various other reasons listeners don't return. It is possible they aren't as interested in the topic as they thought. Maybe they forgot about your show. They probably didn't subscribe and are listening to other shows. We are only talking about 20 people. Be thankful you only have 20 or 40 people listening to your early shows. This allows you the grace and space to get better. Spend half your time promoting the podcast to bring in new listeners. Spend the other half of your podcast time getting better. Soon, nobody will remember episode one until you want to revisit it for a good laugh when you hit 100. ONE OR MULTIPLE Finally, Gila is considering multiple shows. "Is it better to have one podcast with different types of episodes, such as one shorter episode a week, one longer the next. Or is it better to create a new podcast channel for each different type?" The answer here is, "it depends". If both the longer and shorter episodes are on the same topic and intended for the same audience, stick with one show. I might suggest you create a schedule for each one. People are creatures of habit. Get them in the habit of listening to your show on a regular basis. You might publish a longer episode every Monday. Then, publish your shorter episode each Thursday. Your listeners will get in a rhythm with you. You could alternate longer and shorter. One week post the longer episode. Then post the shorter episode the following week. This still creates a rhythm. One other option is regularly publishing one length while publishing the other length as bonus episodes. As an example, you could publish a short episode every Monday. Then when you do the occasional interview, you could publish a bonus episode. The bonus episode would only get published when you had a interview, but the short episode appear on a regular basis. If the two episodes serve different audiences or different topics, I would not use them for the same podcast. In this case, I would suggest you get one show up and running first. Once you hit your stride with that show, and know you enjoy podcasting, start the second show. But only start the second show after you realize how much work is involved and you are positive you can fit it into your schedule. COACHING I would love to see you grab one of my laser coaching slots. But, you need to act quickly. Fast action wins. This laser coaching opportunity is limited to 8 clients who take action and sign up. Are you just interested in monetizing your show or are you committed? The offer ends when the spots are full or on Wednesday (May 25), whichever comes first. If www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/laser goes to my homepage, you know the 8 spots are full. If you want my one-on-one help for less than $84/month, get all the details at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/laser. Are you committed or just interested? Let's see what we can accomplish. Why Haven't You Done It – PTC 388
If you're like most podcasters, you are struggling to get noticed. You are probably feeling invisible in the sea of podcasts. How do you find the confidence to stand up and stand out? On the other side, the podcasting elite are shaming you for even having the desire to make money with your podcast and grow your influence. I want to help you defeat Impostor Syndrome and all the naysayers while finding the confidence to let your superpower shine. MY WHY Last weekend, my son and I traveled to Southern California for a hockey combine. This is where young men play to get noticed by coaches and scouts for junior hockey teams and college programs. I did a lot of work on the road last weekend. In fact, I recorded my podcast with my laptop in the parking lot of the rink. This weekend, he and I are in Boston for a hockey showcase. This is very similar to last weekend. This event attracts different coaches and scouts. We are looking for a great team for Simon to join next season. Today, I record this episode from the parking lot of another rink. Later tonight, we will drive 2 hours North to see my daughter who is away at college. We will tour the campus, have dinner and see a show she is directing. Tomorrow, we fly back home. That is my internal "why" and the reason I created Podcast Talent Coach. I want to have time to travel with my kids anytime I'd like. And be able to serve podcasters and coaches while I'm anywhere in the world. I don't need to be tethered to an office in some fixed location. With my laptop and an internet connection, I can run my business from anywhere. MY CONFIDENCE Unfortunately, I lacked the confidence to make this happen when I first started. I started in radio in 1989 while getting my degree in Architecture. I had no idea what I was doing. My show was just a copy of all the other DJs I heard on the air. Over time, I studied all I could to learn how to create compelling radio. My coaches taught me how to build relationships with my audience. Eventually, I would become the program director of many radio stations coaching other on-air talent to create the same successful shows. As I began listening to podcasts, I realized podcasters could use the same strategies we use in radio to build the same powerful, profitable relationships. So, I started Podcast Talent Coach. Soon, I realized there was this stigma in the podcasting world. Many podcasters looked down their noses at hosts who wanted to monetize their show. It was as if it was some sin to have a desire to make money with your show. They acted as if this should be some noble thing you did for free. Public radio is a lot like that. Those in public radio sometime act as if they are doing work that is more worthy or valuable than those in commercial radio. Well, the government isn't funding your podcast. You are creating amazing content and have a message to share. And, you should be able to monetize your show if that is your wish. FIGHT THE VOICES Over the years, I have fought the high and mighty and followed my passion. I knew podcasting is a powerful tool to build relationships and profitable business. I ignored those who showered shame on entrepreneurs and did it anyway. It took a lot. There were times when I doubted I was doing the right thing. Maybe podcasting was meant to be this sacred land free of marketing messages. That's when I took a step back and looked at the successful podcasts. The shows at the top of the charts … who were NOT produced by public radio … all had a monetization strategy or were connected to a bigger business. The only podcasters shaming people for the desire to monetize were those who couldn't figure it out. They were the crabs in the bottom of the bucket pulling the other crabs back down. I blocked out the negative Nancies and moved forward anyway. YOUR CONFIDENCE You can do it as well. I believe you have it in you. Are you ready to fill your calendar with your ideal coaching clients? What message do you have to share with the world? Where are the struggles can you help them overcome? What are you doing to amplify your visibility? This is where it begins. Your podcasts allows you an amazing opportunity to lead you from obscurity to becoming a highly sought-after coach. Your audience will soon be full of coaching prospects who are ready to become paying clients. You have what your clients need. Each week on your podcast, you share that expertise while building powerful, profitable relationships. If you would like help building your podcast strategy to land high-ticket clients, let's talk. Visit www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply to apply for a conversation with me. You and I will sit down, review your goals, determine where you are today and build a strategy to success. Once you have a strategy, you'll discover you have the confidence to achieve your goals. CONVERSATIONS It breaks my heart when I talk with podcasters struggling to connect the podcast to their coaching business. They find it difficult to figure out how the podcast fits into the overall marketing plan. As these podcasters try to create a strategy, other podcasters shame them for having the desire to make money with their show. It is as if podcasting should be this noble, non-profit charity. That's just nonsense from people who don't want you to succeed if they can't succeed. You have every right to use your podcast as a powerful marketing platform for your coaching business. Don't let the misinformed pull you back down simply because they can't figure it out. Imagine being able to have a conversation with your ideal customers on a weekly basis. In addition to that, your ideal clients request to have that conversation every week by subscribing to your show to hear you share your expertise. How great would that be? A podcast makes weekly conversations with potential high-ticket clients possible. Not only possible, but highly likely when you have a system in place. That is my external "why". This is the external reason I created Podcast Talent Coach. I want you to be able to quickly and easily attract those high-ticket clients using your podcast. YOUR MESSAGE Too many podcasters have a message to share to the world. They simply don't build the audience of ideal people they can help, because they don't have the confidence. They let the voices of the naysayers keep them down. The little voice in your head is asking, "Who do you think you are? What makes you think you're an expert?" That voice is just the lack of confidence others have of themselves infecting you. Don't let it. Believe in yourself. You have an fantastic message people need to hear. Podcasting gives you an amazing opportunity to tell your stories and build know, like and trust. Friendships are built through the details you share of your life and journey. When you structure your show properly, your podcast can be an amazing marketing tool to drive your business and grow your revenue. You build trust every week with your audience. Your strategy attracts an audience who is leaning into what you say rather than just simply listening to listen. You are building a relationship. Podcasting allows you to demonstrate your authority to your prospects and invite them to become clients. You increase your visibility as your audience grows. Leading listeners of your podcast to become paying coaching clients is just a matter of following a simple step-by-step process. BE REAL One of the big challenges coaches face is the lack of strategy. They have no step-by-step process in place to lead their listeners to become paying clients. You want to double your downloads again and again. There is no shame in that. But as you grow, make sure you are creating an audience of buyers. You don't want listeners for the sake of having listeners. Interested listeners is not the goal. You want listeners who are committed to what you have to offer. Quality over quantity. To have a significant impact in the lives of your clients, you need to be real. You can't sugarcoat your expertise. Give your clients what they need to hear. The same is true with your podcast. Be authentic. Stop worrying about ruffling feathers or upsetting the apple cart. Be real, even if it means upsetting a few people. Stand up for your principles. Make people take notice. CONTENT-CLIENT CONNECTION There are six phases to the Content-Client Connection inside my Podcast Profits Accelerator. Six steps is all it takes. It doesn't need to be any harder than this. Though the entire process is beyond what I can fit into this episode, I will give you a quick overview. Phase 1 is Podcast Platform. This is all about defining your ideal listeners and your why. Phase 2 is Audience Attraction. This is how you attract your ideal clients. Phase 3 is Content Creation. This is where we create magnetic content. Phase 4 is your Relationship Roadmap. This step is all about creating powerful, profitable relationships with your podcast. Phase 5 is Starting Strategy. This is all about getting listeners to start through your funnel. Finally, Phase 6 is Converting Clients. This is where you present your offer. Each phase needs to be tailored to your particular niche and the solution you offer to the clients you help. Once you have tailored each phase, you have a strategy to follow that will attract the right listeners. You'll have an audience full of potential clients who want to work with you. It isn't about the size of your audience. It is about the powerful, profitable relationships you are creating with that audience. Just remember to be yourself and follow the plan. You will build an audience of passionate, potential clients leaning in and ready to hire you to impact their lives. BUILD YOUR STRATEGY Are you ready to block out the naysayers? Would you like somebody in your corner to help build your confidence and get you visible to your ideal clients? Let's talk. If you don't have a mentor who can take your hand and walk you every step of the way, go to www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply, click the button and apply to have a chat with me. We will develop your plan and see how I can help and support you to achieve your podcast goals. You have it in you. I'd love to help you find it. Apply today and we'll get started.

Interview Secrets and Other Questions – PTC 387
On this episode, I have a handful of questions to answer from podcasters. How many episodes should I release to start? My guests won't share their interview episode. How do I determine who is listening? And more. LET'S TALK If you have been struggling to land clients with your show, let's talk. I would love to give you a call with me as my gift to develop your podcast strategy. We will define where you are today, what you would like to accomplish and how you can get there this year. If you're tired of trying all the "get rich quick" magic formulas of the gurus that don't work, let me show you proven strategies that have worked for me over decades of radio and 10 years coaching podcasters. Apply for your call at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply. This isn't empty theory. It also isn't some high pressure sales call. You and I will create a plan that will help you reach your goals. Then, if we like each other, I can show you some options to help you accelerate your success if you'd like. Let's get something scheduled. Apply today at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply. HOW MANY DO I RELEASE? I have 6 recorded episodes of my podcast ready to go. Should I release them all at one time? Or week by week? I focus on relationships and talk to a different expert in each episode. - Kiara DON'T BELIEVE THE GURUS Many podcast gurus want you to game the system to get on Apple Podcasts' New and Noteworthy. They tell you this helps you grow your audience quickly. Studies have shown that New and Noteworth may get you a few listeners to start. But when you are no longer listed there, you no longer have the downloads. I would rather see you play the long game. What are you doing today to build relationships to grow your audience over the next year or five? If you release all six episodes to start, you have nothing to release next week. You now have to find a guest, interview that guest, edit the show and get it published by next week to stay consistent. Every spring and fall my alergies kick in and I get sick. I happen to be allergic to the state tree. When it pollenates or loses its leaves, my head swells up. My nose starts running I lose my voice. Therefore, I always have a couple episodes ready to go just in case. When I lose my voice, I am a few weeks ahead and always have something to publish. You might consider publishing 2 or 3 to start, just to give listeners something to binge. Let them really get to know who you are and what you're all about. Then, drop one a week after that. Continue creating new episodes to publish consistently. With this strategy, you are always 3 or 4 weeks ahead when life happens. MY GUESTS WON'T SHARE I've been experiencing a recurring problem with my guests not sharing their episode or only making a minimal effort that's ineffective. For example, I recently had a guest who only shared the episode in Instagram Stories, among 10 other stories, with no link or instructions on how to find the episode. The guest also happens to be a social media influencer and makes a substantial living off her posts, so she should know better. When I asked her to share it again, her response was, "But I already shared it." As part of my guest coaching routine, I have a conversation before every recording where I explain that I do not charge an appearance fee but I do expect every guest to share their episode. This is a mutual promotion and I rely on guests to share so I can reach new listeners. Every guest agrees to this verbally and then I send a reminder in writing at the same time that I send recording information. Once the episode is published, I send another reminder along with all of the social media links, listening platform links, audio grams, and a script they can choose to use if they don't want to draft their own text. I make the posting and sharing process as easy as I possibly can, and yet, I still have this issue. Each time a guest doesn't share their episode, it's evident in the download numbers. What else can I do? I feel like any more hand holding would be patronizing. Thanks! -Jessica NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY I wish there was an easy answer to this one, Jessica. The short answer is, "They don't have any obligation to share your episode." Getting guests to share your episode is definitely a powerful way to get your downloads to grow. I like that you have the agreement up front before the interview even happens. It is also great that you write the post for them. You are making it easy. It looks like they believe they are fulfilling their end of the agreement. They are telling you they have already shared it. So, there is some miscommunication somewhere in the process. You might try being a little more specific on the requirement. You could tell them they need to share your graphic and a link to the show on social media within 48 hours of it being published. On the other hand, they are doing you a favor by taking the time to be interviewed. They are giving you great content for your show, so you don't have to create a solo show. Before you agree to an interview, do a little research. Check their social media accounts. See if they share other interviews. Ensure you have a guest that will share, because that's what they've done in the past. You can also work to build the relationship a little more before the episode publishes. Create a connection with the guest. Give them something to create the law of reciprocity where they feel a little obligation to repay you with posting. At the end of the day, you can't guarantee they share it. Find the right guests and be a little clearer with your expectations. MY VOICE How would one get better at projecting their voice? - Dustin IMPROVING Stand up. Put the mic just higher than level so you look up a bit and open the airway. Speak from the diaphragm. Don't force it. You'll get stronger over time. I learned this when I first started in radio at the college radio station. We had a sit-down board. I was always exhausted at the end of a show. OTHER VOICE TIPS There are a few other things you can try. Your voice will sound different to you when you listen to your voice through headphones. The enclosed space of the headphones amplifies your voice. The sound of your voice is also changed by the audio processing. The bones in your head vibrate differently when using headphones. To help you sound more natural, remove one ear of your headphones. With only one cup on your ear, you are able to hear your voice more naturally with the free ear. You will also hear your voice in the context of the ambient room noise rather than through the vacuum of the headphones. If you are wearing only one cup of your headphones, turning the volume down will also help you sound more natural. With a lower headphone volume, you will better hear your natural voice. You won't be fooled by the dominance of the headphone sound. Use your headphones to make sure you hear the other audio included in your podcast. Make sure you can hear your music bed, intro, guest and other audio. However, make sure your headphones are not giving you a false image of your voice. Finally, speak naturally. Do not attempt to sound like other announcers you have heard. Be yourself. When you speak like an announcer, you begin to stretch and emphasize words unnaturally. Your speech begins to unnaturally bounce. Speak conversationally. Use a natural pace. Don't use unnecessary emphasis on words. Speak as if you are on the telephone. These steps will help your voice sound more natural. MY AUDIENCE I'm a vet surgeon and my podcast aim is to connect veterinary professionals and pet owners/animal careers. I started a year ago, had published 16 episodes and have about 1,200 downloads. I interview veterinary professionals and ask about their life journeys. I'd like to answer my audience questions and worries, but I don't know who they are. Not sure if I'm too small, but I dont get a lot of feedback so even tho I know there's an audience there, I'd like to know a little more about them so I can tailor my podcast and website to them. How do you learn about your audience? - Francisco ATTRACT RATHER THAN PLEASE Rather than trying to convert your listeners to clients, attract your ideal prospective clients as listeners. Then convert them to clients. What questions do your vet clients ask? What are their pains, struggles and worries? Address those concerns on the show and you will attract listeners who need what you offer. Instead of trying to change what you offer for the people listening, attract listeners who what what you have to offer. Play the long game. Go through my Listener Development Worksheet. You can find it at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/listener. When you define your ideal listener, you will know where to find them online. You will understand how to attract her to your show. And, you will know exactly what content to share on each episode. This will help you grow your business and attract clients much more effectively than trying to please people in your audience who may not be a perfect fit for what you do. INTERVIEWING I've been thinking about how to improve as an interviewer. I interviewed two people for my podcast in the last three days and I would call those interviews _okay_. After two years of podcasting and around 50 interviews, I wonder how I'll get better at this. Do you use a post-interview "checklist" to help you improve your technique? Are there any resources (books, Web sites) that focus on better interview technique? I guess I'm looking for a more systematic approach to improving my interview skills. I'm impressed by some of the interviewers I've heard on other podcasts, but I also realize that you don't have to be perfect like on live radio. - Glenn CONVERSATIONS During the actual interview, it is more compelling for the listener when you have a conversation rather than a "question/answer" session. Get your guest to tell stories by asking them questions that lead them in that direction. Everything interesting is about people. If you are simply teaching facts, you will lose the attention of your listener. Get them emotionally invested by using stories. Put them in the moment. My list of 17 Interview Questions help you do that. You can download that list at PodcastTalentCoach.com/interview. During your conversation, avoid questions that elicit one-word answers. "Did you enjoy that?" "Yep." "How many units did you sell?" "1,234." When your guest answers with one word, it kills the momentum of the conversation. When they answer "yes", you then need to figure out how to ask "what did you enjoy about it" or "how did you sell that many". This just turns the conversation into a lot of start and stop. Structure your conversation to create a story arc. It should have a beginning, middle and end. Lead your listener somewhere. Remember that your listener will take away one big thing from the conversation. Decide what that will be before the conversation begins. Then conduct the interview to get to that one big thing. I do have a course called "How To Crush Your Next Podcast Interview Like A Radio Pro Without Hours Of Preparation and Years Of Training." You can find it at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/interviewcourse. YOUR STRATEGY If you don't have a mentor who can take your hand and walk you every step of the way, go to www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply, click the button and apply to have a chat with me. We will develop your plan and see how I can help and support you to achieve your podcast goals.

Turn Listeners Into Coaching Clients – PTC 386
Clients tell me they struggle creating a strong call-to-action and getting listeners to sign up for a call. Connecting your content to becoming a client can be a challenge. Today, I want to show you how to turn your listeners into coaching clients. Rather than trying to sells ads and sponsors for your podcast, sell your stuff. Your podcast drives your business by growing relationships and authority, not ads and sponsors. This is what we will cover today. You may want to take some notes. LET'S TALK If you have been struggling to land clients with your show, let's talk. I would love to give you a call with me as my gift to develop your podcast strategy. HOW I LEARNED THIS You see, many clients tell me they struggle to figure out how to market the show to the right audience to attract more of the right listeners. This is what I've been doing for 3 decades. I got into radio in 1988 while I was earning my bachelors degree in architecture. Being an introvert, impostor syndrome was always a challenge. Over time, I learned how to attract and entertain an audience. Over the next 30 years, I created marketing campaigns and events to build a buying audience. I also spent decades coaching and training on-air talent to do the same. Now I do that for podcasters. Through my years in radio, I was lucky enough to interview greats like George Strait, Ice-T, Zac Brown, Lady Gaga and more. These interviews gave me status by association. In 2009, I fell in love with podcasting and the creative, entrepreneurial spirit of it. What radio was lacking by becoming big business, podcasts were capitalizing on with adventure and powerful niches. Unfortuately, I heard so many podcasts with no strategy. I figured if they could learn just a few of the things we used in radio to attract an audience and convert them to customers, their podcasts could be so much stronger and more effective. But in 2012, I didn't have a platform of my own. I saw all these other experts growing and having an impact. How could they do it and I'm not? I had all this radio experience. STEP UP Then I realized I just needed to step up. Owning a radio station was no longer possible due to big business. But, now there was an option with my own podcast. That's when I got started coaching podcasters. The more conversations I had, the more podcasters would tell me they just needed a solid plan and foundation for growth. How do we get more listeners? Now, you now have the opportunity to use podcasting to attract your ideal coaching clients. I got lucky to get it and figure it out by getting knocked around. Now you can easily get it without all the pain I experienced. Imagine being able to have a conversation with your ideal customer every week. That's what podcasting can do for you if you structure it right. It's the perfect way to reach your target audience and demonstrate your authority in your niche. You simply need a strategy to connect your content to your ideal client. 3 SECRETS Are you leveraging podcasting to its full potential to grow your business? Now is the time. Podcasting is growing. It is wide open compared to blogging and YouTube. And, it is growing incredibly fast. The future is bright. When I teach podcasters how to do this, there are three common challenges. They make it too complicated. They have a poor stragegy. And, they don't know where to start. You can overcome each of these easily. But before I share the solutions to those challenges, let me give you three secrets the podcast gurus don't tell you. First, you podcast allows you to build know, like and trust. The gurus want you to get a sponsor or sell ads. That's the worst thing you can do. It takes too much time and effort to sell ads. You have limited inventory. And, there is a revenue ceiliing. Instead, build relationships with the stories you tell and examples you share on your podcast. Allow your listener to get to know you. Build rapport with your potential clients. Next, use your content to create excitement for what you have to offer. The best interview to launch a product or service features someone who has been helped by using the product or service. Get that person to tell their story of transformation. Finally, remember that different people consume content in different ways. One size does not fit all. Therefore, give them options. For instance, record a video and use the audio for your podcast. Two formats, but you've only done the work once. Repurpose your content. 3 CHALLENGES Let's solve the three challenges for you. First, coaches make podcasting too complicated. You simply need to connect your content to your client. Clients tell me they struggle creating a strong call-to-action and getting listeners to sign up for a call. Develop a strategy to attract an audience of potential clients. Then, create great content that will build trust. Let your content lead to your offer vehicle, such as webinar or discovery call. My radio coach taught me the importance of building relationships. He would tell me that friendships come from self revelation. When you reveal things about yourself, you build that friendship. On your podcast, build relationships with your amazing content. This is the power of podcasting. STRATEGY The next challenge podcasters encounter is a poor strategy. Clients tell me they struggle to connect the podcast to the business and figure out how it fits into the overall marketing plan. My podcast profits framework involves six steps. It doesn't need to be any harder than this. STEP 1 Step 1 is your podcast platform. This is defining your ideal listeners and your why. TaVona came to me to launch her podcast. We built a show to help you attract nurses who she could help transition from nursing to entrepreneurial endeavors. Over time, she realized her clients needed her help launching their next product or service instead of a business. So, she pivoted. This pivot wouldn't have been possible without understanding her ideal client and knowing her true why. STEP 2 Step 2 is your popularity factor. This is how you attract your ideal clients. Greg runs the Cool Grandpa podcast. When he came to me for help, he had about 400 downloads a month. After we created his strategy, his downloads increased from 400 to 850. That's what is possible with a strategy. STEP 3 Step 3 is your content creation. This is where we create magnetic content. Sadie and Sausha came to me to launch their podcast called Meathead Test Kitchen. These two are amazing. They talk about health and fitness in their very own unique way. You know exactly what you get on this show within the first two minutes. Their content makes them unique and magnetic. STEP 4 Step 4 is your Relationship Roadmap. This is where you build relationships. Zoe uses her podcast to build relationships with decision makers at potential client companies. Over time, she is able to reach a point where these CEOs are willing to discuss a working relationship all because of her podcast. This is just one of the many ways to build relationships with your show. STEP 5 Step 5 is your Starting Strategy. This is all about offering lead magnets and webinar invitations. It could also be a discovery call with your potential client. This is what I do with Podcast Talent Coach. I give you plenty of information you can use. I then give you amazing opportunities to get more through my webinars and other trainings. STEP 6 Finally, step 6 is Converting Clients. This is where you present your offer. When Oscar and I worked together, he was conducting great interviews on his podcast. Unfortunately, the show wasn't leading to clients. When I listened to his show, he did very little to invite potential clients to work with him. We revamped the structure of the show a bit. Now, Oscar is a bigger part of the show. He invites his listeners to get more information about working with him. Those interactions now turn into client relationships. START The third challenge coaches face is they don't know where to start. Clients tell me they struggle with how to offer things without making it sound like an ad. They tell me it is hard to make yourself likable while selling something. What would it mean if you had an easy way to grow your audience? A step-by-step process to turn your listeners into coaching clients? There is a secret to growing an audience. You need to work on 2 sides of the equation. You need to attract new listeners. Then, you need to keep your current listeners coming back for more. Talk to your idea clients each and every week on your podcast to build those powerful, profitable relationships. Follow those 6 steps I've given you to land your clients. MY HELP Let me help you get started. We can figure out where your strategy isn't converting in the 6 steps. We'll build your strategy and get you started. Apply for your call at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply. If you have been struggling to land clients with your show, here is your opportunity. It is my gift to you. No charge. We'll just develop your podcast strategy. We will define where you are today, what you would like to accomplish and how you can get there this year. If you're tired of trying all the "get rich quick" magic formulas of the gurus that don't work, let walk you through these proven strategies that have worked for me over decades of radio and 10 years coaching podcasters. Apply for your call at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply. I can't wait to talk with you.

COACHING CLIENTS Let's talk about five podcasting strategies you can use to turn your listeners into coaching clients. Imagine being able to have a conversation with your ideal customers on a weekly basis. In addition to that, your ideal clients request to have that conversation every week. How great would that be? A podcast makes those conversations possible when your ideal clients subscribe to your podcast. We just need to attract the right people. Podcasting is an amazing opportunity to tell your stories and build know, like and trust. Facts tell, and stories sell. If you structure the show properly, your podcast can be an amazing marketing tool to drive your business and grow your revenue. You build trust every week with your show. Podcasting allows you to demonstrate your authority to your prospects and invite them to become clients. You can also grow your influence by getting interviewed on other podcasts. Here are five podcasting strategies that will help you attract high-ticket coaching clients for your business. You can use one or all to reach all new levels. TALKING HEAD A "talking head" is a podcast featuring a solo host. This style of podcast allows you to share your information and expertise. PODCASTING SECRET: Build know, like and trust. The stories and examples you share on your podcast allow your listener to get to know you. Friendships are built through revelation. The more you reveal about yourself through stories, the more your audience gets to know you like a friend. Then, develop like and trust over time. BE THE INTERVIEWER Interviews allow you to create great content without doing all of the work required for a presentation delivered on a talking head episode. PODCASTING SECRET: Leave room to demonstrate your expertise and share your stories around the conversations with your guests. You can use three different methods to attract high-ticket coaching clients with your interviews. GET INTERVIEWED When you are interviewed on other podcasts, you get exposed to new audiences. PODCASTING SECRET: When the host asks you how listeners can find you, answer with one, single, focused call-to-action. Listeners get lost in a laundry list of choices. Instead, offer listeners your lead magnet to get them on your email list. You can then invite them to listen to your show and build the relationship. This high-ticket coaching client attraction strategy works best when you find podcasts already speaking to your potential coaching clients. DEMONSTRATE YOUR COACHING Share a bit of a coaching session with a current client as an episode. Demonstrate the transformation you offer your clients to listeners who might become your high-ticket coaching client. PODCASTING SECRET: The best interview to launch a product or service features someone who has been helped by using the product or service. Get that person to tell their story of transformation. This strategy gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your coaching style and expertise. It is sort of a test drive for your potential high-ticket coaching clients. VISIBILITY Many coaches say, "I don't have time for a podcast." Repurpose your content on YouTube! PODCASTING SECRET: Different people consume content in different ways. Give them options. Begin by creating the video of your show. Then, strip the audio for your podcast. You get twice the visibility without doubling the amount of work required to create it. NENA With Nena, which would be the best structure for her show to allow her to attract the nurses she can help with her coaching? Nena Hart is a member of my Podcast Fast Blueprint program. As she launches her show, she wants to ensure she has built the right foundation to attract her ideal coaching clients. She has come to me to help her structure her show and content to make sure she is headed in the right direction. How do you like it, protect it and improve it? We need to keep your voice healthy before we can make it better. But first, let's talk about liking our voice. There is an interesting thing about the voice and the way we hear it. When I first started in radio 35 years ago, I was baffled how different my voice sounded when it was recorded compared to when I was talking. In radio, we often listened to our show to improve. We would sit down with the station program director and review the show. When I would listen, my voice sounded so weird. So different from what I normally hear. I couldn't understand it. It turns out that it is all about physiology. When you speak, you hear your voice in two ways. When you listen to a recording, you only hear one. When you listen to a recording of your voice, you hear your own voice through vibrating sound waves hitting your ear drum. This is the way other people hear your voice as well. When you hear your voice as you talk, you hear your voice through the ear drum as well. But, you also hear your voice through the vibrations of your skull and jaw. As the vibrations travel through the bone, they spread out and become lower in pitch. This gives you a false sense of a lower voice. When you tell yourself you hate the sound of your own voice, realize that it is normal. We all think we sound different when we hear the recorded version. LIKE YOUR VOICE There are three things you can do to make your voice sound more natural and get you on the path to enjoying the sound of your voice. ONE EAR OF THE HEADPHONES Your voice will sound different to you when you listen to your voice through headphones. The enclosed space of the headphones amplifies your voice. As we mentioned, the bones in your head vibrate differently when you speak. It is exaggerated when you're using headphones. To help you sound more natural, remove one ear of your headphones. With only one cup on your ear, you are able to hear your voice more naturally with the free ear. You will also hear your voice in the context of the ambient room noise rather than through the vacuum of the headphones. TURN DOWN YOUR HEADPHONES If you are wearing only one cup of your headphones, turning the volume down will also help you sound more natural. With a lower headphone volume, you will better hear your natural voice. With a lower headphone volume, you won't be fooled by the dominance of the headphone sound. Use your headphones to make sure you hear the other audio included in your podcast. Make sure you can hear your music bed, intro, guest and other audio. However, make sure your headphones are not giving you a false impression of your voice. DON'T GET SING-SONGY Speak naturally. Do not attempt to sound like other announcers you have heard. Be yourself. When you speak like an announcer, you begin to stretch and emphasize words unnaturally. Your speech begins to unnaturally bounce. When you listen to your recorded voice, you may sound like a puky disc jockey or used car salesman on a bad television commercial. Both lack warmth and are hard to believe. You will sound less natural when you use the announcer voice. Instead, speak conversationally. Use a natural pace. Don't use unnecessary emphasis on words. Speak as if you are on the telephone. These steps will help your voice sound more natural. TAKE CARE OF YOUR VOICE So, how do you stay healthy? How do you get well if you get sick? What ounce of prevention can you use to protect your most valuable asset? Here are two sides to the equation to keep your voice healthy and strong. Don't get sick. And if you, get well. First, take care of your voice. There are a few things you can do to care for your voice. Wear a hat and avoid the head cold. Avoid excessive clearing of the throat. Warm up properly by slowly expanding your range. Use a nasal rinse to keep everything clean. Next, drink plenty of water. When recording, stay hydrated. Drink room temp water. The vocal chords constrict when you drink cold beverages. Also avoid caffeine, because it also constricts. Avoid soda and syrup drinks to prevent the crud building up in your throat. This will help prevent the excessive clearing of the throat. GET WELL If you do get sick, get well and pamper the throat. If your voice gets strained, there are a variety of things you can try. Every singer and speaker has their own special trick. You just need to find one that works for you. Gargle with warm salt water. This will gently massage the vocal chords and relieve the pain. Use a humidifier to keep your membranes hydrated. Remember to drink a lot of water for hydration as well. To soothe the throat, drink warm decaf tea with honey. Drink warm, watered-down hot chocolate. This will help prevent scalding the vocal chords. Watering it down prevents the crud in the throat. Remember to use a nasal rinse. Did I mention drink plenty of water? Experiment until you find something that what works for you. IMPROVE We've learned to accept the sound of our voice. That doesn't mean we can't work to improve it. There are four things you can do to improve the sound and appeal of your voice. USE NOTES – NOT A SCRIPT The structure you use when you write is much different than the structure you use when you speak. You use different words. Your sentence structure will be different. The flow of the written word simply differs greatly from the spoken word. As you are speaking, use notes instead of a full script. You will sound much more comfortable when speaking from the heart rather than speaking from the script. The flow and structure of your sentences will be much more natural. Make note of the important points to include in your podcast. Hit those points within your show without reading it word for word. TALK TO ONE PERSON You will sound much more natural when you speak to one person rather than a group of people. When I am listening to your podcast, I want to feel like you are talking to me. If you include a call to action in your podcast, you want me to act upon that request. If you are talking to a group of people, I can easily think someone else will take action and I can do nothing. If you are speaking directly to me, we will begin to develop a friendship. I will begin to feel like I know you. I will also feel like you care about me personally. Your delivery will sound much more conversational and less like a lecture when you speak to one person. This will help you become more comfortable with your own voice. PERFORM Stand up and speak from your chest and stomach instead of your throat. This will drop your voice an octave or two. Put yourself in the right frame of mind with visions. People can hear your smile. You need to get there before the recording begins. Work from pictures. All communication is visual. Envision in your mind a specific time and place that makes you happy. Actually describe it out loud. This will change your state of mind. There is a philosophy in acting that the performance begins before you break the wings. That means actors get into character before they actually step onto stage. They take steps to get in the right frame of mind before the performance begins. Do the same for your podcast. Get there before you hit record. REVIEW YOUR SHOW The best way to become a more natural speaker is to review your show often. When you listen to your show on a regular basis, you will become much more comfortable hearing a recording of your voice. You dislike your voice, because you are not used to hearing it outside of your own head. The more you hear your voice, the more natural it will sound. YOUR COACHING CALL Would you like help attracting your ideal coaching clients using your podcast? I'm looking to create a few success stories to use as case studies. Simplify Your Podcast Process with Andy Charles – PTC 382
If you're not careful, producing your podcast can devour your entire week. Simplify your podcasting process to ensure you publish an episode every week while leaving you plenty of time to grow your business and serve your clients. On this episode, we will talk with Andy Charles regarding his podcast Andy's Personal Development. His biggest struggle is his process for marketing and promotions. We will simplify that today. EDITING I have a team that can help you with your editing and publishing. You have three different options. The Basic option provides you basic editing services. The team will do basic edits for your show and get it ready to publish. This editing includes editing, noise reduction, volume leveling, mixing, and mastering. If you are also doing video, this level will give you professional video editing and a YouTube thumbnail. To help you promotion, you get an audiogram for your social media. You get all of that for about $56 an episode. What could you do in your business with the time you would spend editing your show? Attracting new client? Working with your current clients? Would that be worth $56? The Plus package is the most popular. In that package, you get coaching and show notes plus everything in the Basic package. The team uploads your show to your audio host, like Libsyn. They upload your video to YouTube. You also get a captioned video for social media. The coaching and basic editing alone is worth the investment in the Plus package. The Premium package is designed for coaches who simply want to record the show and have the team to the rest. You get everything included in the Basic and Plus packages. You also get one-on-one coaching with me. The package includes advanced SEO-optimized show notes, timestamps to the resources mentions, a quote card for socials, and a blog header image for your website. The team also uploads the show notes to your website. The Premium package gets your show published and posted to your website. It's the full deal. See all 3 options and select the package that works best for you on the Podcast Talent Coach website at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/editing. SIMPLIFY YOUR PROCESS How can you simplify your process to save time each week. As you work on your process, look for things you do over and over again. Are there ways to do that activity once and use it again and again? Or, can you do the task multiple times during one sitting to save set up and tear-down time? There are three areas where you can start to simplify your process. WORKPARTS If you are like me, there are pieces of audio you use in every episode. For me, it would be my open and close for my show. Make these pieces easy to insert into your podcast. I begin creating an episode by recording the primary content. Then, I insert the prerecorded open and close as the final step and save it as one file. Since I use the prerecorded open and close in every episode, I have those pieces saved in one production file. This file only contains that audio. When it comes time to insert the pieces, I go to the file and drag them into the session. Those pieces are the only things in that folder. No searching. No wasting time. It just simplifies the processes. Are there audio pieces you use in every episode? If so, save these pieces as individual files that you can easily access and insert. RECORDING It takes time to set up and tear down your gear each time you record an episode. Even it you leave it in a studio, it still takes time to prepare to record. After setting up once, record two or three episodes. You will be surprised how much time you can save by recording multiple shows at one time. Mental prep, studio prep and show prep all take time. Do it once for multiple episodes. PUBLISHING Batch your publishing work for multiple episodes. Similar to recording, getting ready to publish takes time. However, you can save time if you set up once and schedule multiple episodes to publish. Simply scheduled your episodes to publish rather than publishing in real time. EDITING HELP You can also get help doing all of these busy work. See how my team can help you edit and publish your show at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/editing. ANDY CHARLES Today we help Andy Charles refine his process. Andy is an Award Winning Inspirational, Transformational, Development Coach, Speaker, and Writer. He is host of the podcast Andy's Personal Development, which you can find HERE. "To Lose A Dream" is Andy's book, which can be found on Amazon. Andy Charles is also a Minister of the Gospel and a Security and Safety Consultant. He has been coaching and public speaking for the past twenty years. His ultimate goal is to impact 300 million lives in his lifetime, and he is well on his way. Enjoy my conversation with Andy Charles. If you don't have a team who can take your editing off your plate to free up your time for more important client-facing tasks, let me team help. See your options at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/editing. See which of the three options make the most sense for you.

Helping Gobinder Gill Get Great Guests – PTC 381
Do you conduct interviews as part of your podast? Have you created an interview strategy? Some podcasters have strategic reasons to interview particular guests. Other hosts take the guests as they come. Where do you fit? Many hosts want to get top shelf guests for their show. What is the trick? How do you land that big guest for your podcast? Let's face it. Asking a busy, successful entrepreneur to give up an hour of their time to give you an interview is a tough ask. Their time is money. How can your podcast be more valuable than their other options? Today, I have six useful tips to help land those big names. Plus, we'll talk to Gobinder Gill, host of the Diversity Corner podcast, about getting great guests. COACHING Gobinder and I have been working together for about six months. He came to me to help him launch his podcast on a solid foundation. Together, we designed the podcast to help Gobinder land more consulting client and keynote speaking opportunities. If you don't have someone who can take your hand and walk you every step of the way, go to www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply, click the button and apply to have a chat with me. You can get a strategy session with me at no charge. Together, we will develop your plan and see how I can help and support you to achieve your podcast goals. If we like each other, and you'd like to discuss some of the tools I might have to help you get where you're going, we can talk about that at the end of the call. There is no hard sales pitch. We just get to know each other and build your strategy. After you get clear on the strategy, you can let me know if you'd like help. It is really that simple. My calendar doesn't have room to chat with everyone. If you are looking to use your podcast to grow your coaching business, apply to have a chat with me by going to www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply. Just click the button and apply. Let's talk about the 6 ways to land the great guests for your show. FIND THE INTRODUCTION First, find people that know your prospect. See if they will introduce you. Just the other day, a radio colleague came to me seeking an interview with Taylor Swift. I have interviewed her a couple times. He knew I was able to make an introduction for him. Use the same process to help yourself. THE GATEKEEPER'S FRIEND Next, become the gatekeeper's friend. There are times when big names have people that run their schedule. This could be a personal assistant or a booking agent. You need to make friends with these people. In the music business, I always go through the record label. I need to create a strong relationship with that person in order to be at the top of the list when interview opportunities come about. WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? Then, position your request from your guest's point of view. To score a guest interview for your podcast, you need to begin by explaining how the interview will benefit your prospective guest. The fact that your audience will love the interview has no bearing on their decision. It really doesn't matter to your guest if your show or your audience will benefit from the guest's appearance. When your guest makes the decision whether to appear on your show, they will only consider how the appearance will benefit them personally. We were able to help a very sick young girl meet Taylor Swift … from her hospital bed. Lolo was a young 11-year-old girl. Her wish was to see Taylor Swift in concert. She was getting tickets for Christmas. However, when Taylor came to town, Lolo was in the hospital fighting for her life. She was in Children's Hospital fighting leukemia. I passed along Lolo's wish to Taylor's record label. It wasn't only the story that got Taylor. I know she loves giving back in very special ways. The Taylor Swift tour was coming through town for two days. I knew there would be some down time the day of the second show. I made it as easy as possible for Taylor to make Lolo's dreams come true. That is exactly what happened. What is in it for your guest? Make it easy. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU'VE GOT The fourth tip is to provide your prospects some examples of your great work. If you have endorsements, share those as well. Use endorsements from others to give you credibility. SIZE ISN'T THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS Next, don't worry about size. Many podcast hosts only use their audience size to lure guests. If you have a reasonable audience size, surely use it to your advantage. However, don't stop there. You may be overlooking many other ways you could benefit your guest. You could offer to give your guest exposure on your website, blog, mailing list, social media and many other ways. Take credit for that. Your audience for any one of these vehicles may be small. However when you combine the benefit of each distribution method, your proposal for the interview will be more appealing to your guest. Use every audience you have to your advantage. DON'T TRIP OVER THE NAMES YOU DROP Finally, use your past interviews as proof of your high caliber. Play to your guest's ego by dropping a few names. If you have had other notable guests on your show in the past, let your guest know. Tell your prospective guest they will be among good company. They will feel more comfortable saying yes to your request. GOBINDER GILL Today, we chat with Gobinder Gill. Money Isn't The Only Answer – PTC 380
Publishing your podcast and running your business can get expensive if you let it. However, money isn't always the answer. There are a variety of ways to get what you need to publish and monetize. Money is just one way. Today, I want to help you get creative and discover a few other ways to get stuff done. ACCELERATOR Developing and following a strategy is difficult to accomplish alone. How long have you been trying to figure this out on your own? When you get a collective group together who are all trying to accomplish the same thing, the transformation is amazing. The things accomplished are phenomenal. One plus one ends up equalling three through the power of collaboration. That is why I started the Podcat Profit Accelerator. It is a group of podcasters coming together to help and support each other to achieve growth and monetization together. Napoleon Hill, author of "Think and Grow Rich", calls it the Mastermind Principle. Hill describes the Mastermind Principle as "The coordination of knowledge and effort between two or more people who work towards a definite purpose in a spirit of harmony … no two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind". He calls this the Mastermind. The Podcast Profit Accelerator is just that. It is a group of people coming together working toward a definite purpose. If you would like help creating and implementing your growth and monetization strategy, come check out this new podcast membership. BENEFITS The Podcast Profit Accelerator provides you a ton of benefits every month. These include ... Live Calls 2x/month where I teach, we brainstorm, we hot seat, I coach and we help each other reach our goals by taking action with accountability and implementation. Access To Recordings in the members portal to revisit anytime you'd like. Podcast Profits Video Library for deeper learning. Podcast Workshops that I do. I have another coming on April 9th. It is $197 and covers audience growth over 3 hours. You're in for free. Private Facebook Support Group to get your questions answered between calls and connect with other members. Toolkit and resource library with over 25 templates and tools. Onboarding Call to get you started quickly and easily. The total value of this is worth well over ten grand individually. Because we are working as a group, you can get all for only $997/year or $97/month. Just the 2 calls a month is worth more than $97. Come see the power of the collective mind in reaching your goals. Get details and enroll at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/accelerator. Let's talk about creative ways to get what you need. TRADE Rather than spending money on products or services, consider trading. If there is a service you need, could you provide your service to that expert in exchange for their expertise and training? You never know what is possible until you ask. They could be in the same situation you are. If you want to get in a giveaway, but can't afford the $297 this month, offer to allow the giveaway host to participate in your giveaway for free in exchange for participating in their giveaway. Get creative. LEVERAGE EXPERTS Another way to save time and money is to leverage experts. If you don't have the time and money to create another program for your clients, leverage another expert. Some experts will give you a course or present to your group simply for the exposure. Not all people are driven by money. Some are driven by exposure and other by the influence and authority. Giving an expert the opportunity to be on stage in front of your audience could be motivation enough to provide you the content you need. This would save you the time creating another course. AFFILIATE Rather than spending money on a product or service, you could become an affiliate of that company. You could promote the product or service on your show. When it sells, you earn a commission that could pay for your own. I'm an affiliate of Dan Millers's 48 Days Eagles membership. In fact, I'm the Dean of Podcasting there. It is a great group of entrepreneurs helping each other grow. When people join through my affiliate link, I earn a small commission. That commission pays for my monthly membership. Find more about 48 Days Eagles at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/jv. REVIEW Another great way to save money is through product reviews. Companies will sometimes give you free product if you agree to review it on your podcast. This helps them get exposure. Your audience gets a REAL review. (Don't fake it – tell the truth.) You get a free product or service. GAVIN BELLE Today, we have a great conversation with Gavin Belle and help him find creative ways to scale his podcast. Gavin Belle is the owner of Pelican Media Group. It is dedicated to providing the most complete content consultancy experience possible. Their services include audio production, digital consultancy, web design and more. Find them at PelicanMediaGroup.com. You can find a link to all of Gavin's podcasts and more at https://linktr.ee/Pelicanmgi. ACCELERATOR Big thanks to Gavin Belle for joining us today. You can find him at PelicanMediaGroup.com. If you take away anything, look for creative ways to get things done rather than spending money. We talk a lot about those creative ways in the Podcast Profit Accelerator membership. It is a group of people coming together working toward a definite purpose. If you would like help creating and implementing your growth and monetization strategy, come check out this new podcast membership. Come see the power of the collective mind in reaching your goals. TaVona Denise's Launch – Again – PTC 379
What happens when you launch your podcast and then realize you're on the wrong path? Sometimes you launch with an idea or topic only to discover your passion isn't what you thought it is. How can you salvage all of that work? On the episode today, we talk to TaVona Denise. She launched Breaking Protocol to help nurses and healthcare workers escape the industry and launch their own business. After some time, TaVona realized many of her clients were coming to her not to launch a business, but to launch a revenue stream within the business. When that happened, the podcast didn't fit. During our conversation, TaVona discovers how to shape her current podcast into a lead generator for her business. She also talks about potential clients fan-girling over her. That's fun. LAUNCH Before we jump into our conversation, I would love to help you launch your podcast in the next 30 days. This is a course I teach live. We walk step-by-step to get your show launched. You will get six weekly, live online classes with me to launch, grow and monetize your podcast. You get Lifetime access to the recordings of the 6 weekly live online classes to revisit anytime you would like. It comes with access to Podcast Fast Support Group to ask your questions and get feedback and support to create a profitable podcast successfully. You get access to a comprehensive toolkit containing worksheets, checklists and other tools to show you how to organize your podcast launch blueprint, execute your plan in just a few minutes a day, and massively increase your downloads. I send you a daily e-mail reminder during the program to help you consistently take action for 15 minutes each day to execute your blueprint. To ensure you are on the right track, you get a 30-minute, one-on-one call with me. Get the details and enroll at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/pfb. Our next classes begin March 28. Don't miss it. YOUR PASSION Many podcasters quit publishing their show around the 7-episode mark. There are a few reasons for this. First, they realize they don't love the topic as much as they thought they did. Don't let this happen to you. Talk about the things that stir your passion. If you discover your passion isn't what you thought it was, or your passion changes, change your content. It is your show. You can do whatever you'd like. A content pivot can happen anytime during the life of the show. Simply explain the "why" behind the shift. Then, start with the new focus on the next episode. You may need to reference the pivot over the next five or six episodes. It cannot be assumed that your audience listens to every episode. Remind them briefly over a handful of episodes to ensure they are up to speed. YOUR AUDIENCE Next, podcasts fade away because the audience isn't growing as fast as the podcaster wanted it to. Your audience doesn't instantly grow after you launch. You need a strategy. Russell Brunson of Marketing Secrets podcast and ClickFunnels says he didn't check his stats for his first year. He says it's a good thing he didn't know how, because he probably would have gotten discouraged. This is another reason you need to love your topic. Don't worry about the size of the audience until it is time to worry about the size of the audience. Do the work before you can reap the rewards. MONETIZE Finally, podcasts fade away because podcasters can't figure out how to monetize the podcast. Again, you need a strategy. How does your content create a desire for your lead magnet? Define a strategy to get listeners to become clients or customers. Evaluate the strategy, make refinements and don't give up. TAVONA DENISE In this conversation, we help TaVona Denise find her strategy to use her new podcast to drive her business. She tells us the story of her original podcast that I helped her launch and how that podcast connected with her listeners. How can we create that same connection with this new show? TaVona Denise helps coaches redesign their business so they can actually have the lifestyle and impact they started the business to create. A former physical therapist, master certified coach and business mentor, TaVona is the creator of Launch Therapy™️. It is a process that helps coaches launch their group programs with ease so that they can bring in their favorite clients consistently without suffering from launch burnout or hating the process. Enjoy the chat. LAUNCH TODAY Big thanks to TaVona for sharing her story with us today. You can find everything TaVona at https://www.tavonadenise.com. If you are ready to launch your podcast, or you know a good friend who is ready, visit www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/pfb. Get all the details on the Podcast Fast Blueprint.
