Remy Park's authenticity is refreshing as all hell. We met at The Big Quiet last year — hosted by past hurdler Jesse Israel — and have enjoyed keeping up with one another since. Today, she's garnered quite a following, sharing her vegan recipes, wellness tips and tricks, and New York City life over on her website Veggiekins. But her day-to-day hasn't always been matcha lattes and gluten-free desserts. In episode 135, she talks about her constantly evolving relationship with food, and details disordered eating habits that started at age 7 and lasted through her first year of college. We chat about what it was like for her to attend her first AA meeting, talk with a therapist on the regular, and begin keeping track of her day-to-day intake. 134. Tim Brown, Co-Founder of AllBirds
Tim Brown once had a thriving career as a pro soccer player. But the New Zealand native had a curiosity about merino wool and a passion for design that had him walking away from one career in favor of another, founding Allbirds in 2016 with friend Joey Zwillinger. He talks to me about the brand's original Kickstarter that caught on fire but resulted in the "worst year of his life," and the big lessons he's learned along the way to growing a thriving company. 133. Gwen Jorgensen, Runner & Olympic Gold Medalist
When Gwen Jorgensen graduated from the University of Wisconsin, she had every intention of becoming a CPA. Within a year of working, she did her first triathlon, doing well enough to achieve elite status. Before she knew it, she had qualified for the 2012 London Olympics and life was never really the same. In episode 133, Gwen talks to me about the #hurdlemoment of navigating a flat tire in London, causing her to come in 38th place, and inspiring her to work harder than ever to make it back to the olympic stage in 2016. We talk about the big life decisions she had to make to follow that dream, including a move abroad and the relentless support of her partner Patrick, and what it was like to be the first woman to win Olympic gold in triathlon. Of course, we also get into her decision to leave triathlon for running full-time, what life’s like in Portland right now, and how motherhood and injury have both played big roles in her recent training. What’s GOOD, Season 4!? Excited to kick things off with Cody Rigsby, the Cycling Director at Peloton. You know what I love most about Cody? He is so unapologetically himself. For episode 132, he chats with me about growing up in North Carolina and knowing from the first time that he visited New York City that he was meant to be here. We talk about everything from when he accepted he was gay and what it was like telling his mom, to working three different jobs at once just to make rent at his first New York apartment while following his goal to be a dancer.
