Talking the power of female leadership & how we need to evolve, with Susan Griffin Black, Founder of EO Products
Susan is the founder of a company called EO, which stands for essential oils. They produce body, skin and hair products made from active botanicals that are scented with essential oils. They also have a sister company called Everyone, which is the more accessible line that’s affordable and for everyone. Susan’s been in business for a very long time, 25 years to be precise. She launched EO as a 4 piece collection to Bloomingdales from her garage in 1995, all while being a a single mum and hustling every single day to pay the bills and keep the lights on, fast forward to today the business still remains independently owned by her alongside her co-founder Brad and pulls in around 50million dollars in revenue each year. If you’ve been listening to my podcasts you’ll already be familiar with the kinds of topics I touch on; we talk about the origin story, the marketing, the challenges, the money… and all that good stuff is totally jam packed packed into this episode, but what I loved most about my conversation with Susan is the key pearls of wisdom dotted throughout. Like the importance of pursuing the journey and the actual day to day of building a business rather than the pot of money at the end, and the why it’s critical as we move forward in the world to have women in complete control of their lives and being at the forefront of leadership. This was such an amazing conversation and I’m so excited for every ear that finds this episode. And please do share it with anyone you think will benefit from this story. How the founder of LASHIFY built her empire through innovating in the lash industry (with 70+ patents along the way!) with Sahara Lotti
Sahara Lotti is the total badass inventor and founder behind the award winning DIY lash extensions company, Lashify. And when I say that this is a must-listen episode - I truly mean it. It’s real and it’s raw and Sahara shares so much of her journey and the challenges she’s faced along the way; if there’s only one podcast you listen to this week - please make it this one. We talk about the absolute importance of patents and the ins and outs of how people can screw you over in any industry, how she actually found her manufacturer. (Spoiler alert: it involves karaoke and Celine Dion hits), the controversy that surrounded her brand in the early days that almost ended in a cancel culture moment (not ok) and the effects that had on her life and her mental health and investing $100,000 into a black-owned hair care brand. Plus so many incredible pieces of actual gold. Actual gold!! These are the learnings of a woman who has a clear mission and isn’t afraid to chase her dreams.Full disclaimer: the audio quality is questionable, but hey...tech can be a nightmare sometimes and this episode is more than worth it. Your ears need this. FINALLY, a female founded magazine about weed! Verena von Pfetten, Founder of Gossamer, shares her journey on daring to be different
Gossamer’s a magazine for stylish people who smoke weed, but it's more than just a business trying to turn a profit. They’re a company that’s built on the promise of having a positive social impact on the world, shift perceptions and make a real difference to the people they touch. We’re talking about the journey in creating this out of the box idea with her co-founder David Weiner, and how they’ve managed to successfully carve out their niche in a highly regulated space, her experience of raising money as a female with blatant sexism at play, and why we need to shift the stigma that surrounds cannabis - especially for people of colour. One of the gems in this episode is where we go through the economics of creating a print magazine and Verena's thoughts on making money in print - make sure you stick around for it!LINKS WE MENTIONGossamer's WebsiteGossamer's Instagram The Ads MBA📱 Join 160K smart chicks in the Female Startup Club universe→ Apply to join our inner circle: https://apply.femalestartupclub.com/apply→ Female Startup Club's Instagram: www.instagram.com/femalestartupclub→ Doone Roisin's Instagram: www.instagram.com/dooneroisin→ Get opportunities delivered to your inbox here: https://female-startup-club.beehiiv.com/ Hosted on Acast.
