Live: How Will the Labour Government Impact the Property Market? | Ep. 410

In this episode, we discuss a question that was asked by Katherine, a listener of our show at the live Auckland recording. Here, Katherine asked how the Labour Government will impact property investors in NZ.  Our key message is that property investors need to hang on. While there may be some changes that make property investment less profitable from a cashflow perspective, any new legislation is likely to be incremental only. This shouldn't take away from the benefits that property provides through leverage.  We also discuss our Epic Guide to Mortgages. This is a 10,000-word guide which walks you through the basics of how to get a mortgage and pay it off more quickly.

One of Split Banking's Biggest benefits No Longer Exists ... So Should You Still Do It? | Ep. 403

In this episode, we discuss how one of split banking's greatest benefits – the ability to borrow more – no longer exists. This was caused by the removal of the LVR restrictions by the Reserve Bank at the start of the first Covid-19 lockdown.  So should you still do it? We suggest that you should, not just because of the other benefits of split banking, but also because the removal of the LVR limits are temporary. So, if they come back in, you still want your portfolio to be in the most equity-efficient position. And that is what split banking enables.   Finally, we wrap up the show by discussing our upcoming podcast tour, which has recently changed dates. Click here to register for the new dates.
