It was a truly historic day in the City of #pittsburgh as the longest labor strike in the history of the nation finally came to an end. After 1,133 days on strike, roughly 25 Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh members are back at their desks at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The mass terminations, part of broader federal workforce cuts, have drawn sharp criticism from public health advocates and sparked legal action from a major federal workers’ union, amid ongoing concerns about political interference in public health agencies.What do you think?REALITY CHECK: 139 Unvaccinated Students Quarantined After Measles Exposure in South CarolinaIn South Carolina, 139 children without measles immunity were forced into quarantine after exposure at two schools as the virus spreads locally. Officials confirmed five new cases, bringing the state’s total to 16, and warned of “unrecognized community transmission.” They urged vaccinations, given measles’ high contagion and dangerously declining immunity levels in the region.Millions at Risk as Medicaid Cuts and ACA Rollbacks Hit 2025 Open EnrollmentMultiple recent policy changes, including federal Medicaid cuts and expired subsidies for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), are expected to make the 2025 open enrollment season significantly more difficult.
