The state broadcaster stands by its FAKE news

It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show! Guest host Andrew Lawton and True North producer Harrison Faulkner discuss this week’s most egregious examples of fake news in the legacy media. By now, most Canadians know the Trudeau government relied on the CBC’s misleading reports to justify invoking the Emergencies Act to quash the Freedom Convoy. This week, during the committee on the Emergencies Act, Conservative MP Larry Brock grilled Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland for relying on the CBC’s fake news but Freeland repeatedly refused to answer questions. This exchange went viral, but instead of apologizing for misleading Canadians – the CBC published an editorial and stood by its faulty journalism. Plus, Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez repeats the Trudeau government’s mantra – “Everyone who disagrees with me is pushing misinformation!” As the government rushes its online censorship bill through committee without debate, Rodriguez claims Conservatives are pushing misinformation about Bill C-11 – despite the fact that the CRTC confirmed the online censorship bill gives the government the power to regulate user-generated content. And as more Canadians tune into independent media outlets like True North, trust in the legacy media is at an all-time low. Instead of criticizing the legacy media for its out-of-touch journalism, Justin Trudeau’s former top advisor Gerald Butts relies on a Twitter thread by an unhinged leftist activist and attacks True North. Tune into Fake News Friday! We’ll be discussing these stories and much more!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The government is expanding and advocating for euthanasia (Ft. Angelina Ireland)

Every day in the news, Canadians see reminders of the fraying and social decay of our civil society. Unfortunately, our leaders in government  are drawing all the wrong conclusions.   Today on The Candice Malcolm Show, we discuss an issue that represents this social decay in Canadian society – death, suicide and our government’s role in not just facilitating, but expanding and advocating for euthanasia.   Canada is among a handful of countries in the world to offer euthanasia services, and now – after 2 years of the Covid-19 pandemic which has resulted in a growing mental health crisis – the Trudeau government wants to expand doctor-assisted suicide to those suffering from mental health conditions. Joining Candice on the show today is Angelina Ireland, the president of the board of the Delta Hospice Society (DHS), a non-profit organization that promotes life-affirming palliative care. In 2020, the DHS refused to offer doctor-assisted suicide despite the BC health authority making the practice mandatory at all publicly funded hospice centers. The BC government eventually pulled DHS’ funding and seized the Irene Thomas Hospice and the Harold and Veronica Savage Centre for Supportive Care where the DHS had been operating since 1991. Angelina has been an outspoken advocate against doctor-assisted suicide and is a defender of natural end-of-life values. She joins The Candice Malcolm Show to discuss the DHS’ tumultuous fight against the BC government, why she’s personally opposed to euthanasia and why this issue should matter to all Canadians.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Pierre Poilievre vindicated as Bank of Canada admits his criticisms were legitimate

The legacy media hasn’t stopped criticizing Pierre Poilievre’s promise to fire the Governor of the Bank of Canada. Journalists have labeled Poilievre’s plans as “outrageous”, “irresponsible” and “reckless”. Even one of Poilievre’s own caucus colleagues, Ed Fast, jumped on the media bandwagon to criticize his comments. But is Pierre Poilievre right about the Bank of Canada?Turns out, even the Bank of Canada admits that their policies have led to inflation and economic instability — the heart of Poilievre’s critiques.Without skipping a beat or acknowledging they were wrong about inflation, the media has pivoted its critiques to the broader Conservative Party. The media is now questioning the party’s membership numbers and criticizing the leadership candidates for even reporting their own numbers.Dr. Ian Brodie, the chair of the Leadership Election Organizing Committee and former Chief of Staff to Stephen Harper, joins Candice on the show today. They discuss how the party will handle the record 600,000+ members and how the leadership election will be managed.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Trudeau’s narrative on the use of the Emergencies Act continues to crumble

When the Trudeau government invoked the Emergencies Act to quash the peaceful Freedom Convoy, they made a number of wild claims to rationalize its use of the never-before-used act. Since then, Trudeau’s narrative about why the government needed these unprecedented powers has crumbled – the convoy was not funded by foreign donors or terrorists, the protesters had nothing to do with the arson attempt in Ottawa and to this date – not a single police force has confirmed the government’s claim that the police requested the government to invoke the act. This week, Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino’s deputy minister says Mendicino was “misunderstood” when he repeatedly said law enforcement requested the government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act. Fortunately for the Trudeau government, they can count on the legacy media to cover for them. Plus, Poilievre Derangement Syndrome reaches a new level as the Poilievre campaign announced it signed up over 300,000 members. Unsurprisingly, the legacy media is not covering this news in the same celebratory way they covered Trudeau’s leadership run in 2013. Further, the Treasury Board of Canada wants you to use proper pronouns when composing emails . Forget about out-of-control government spending or the inflation crisis – this is the top priority for the government! Plus, some exciting developments from True North as we launched two new podcasts this week AND some personal news from Candice Malcolm! It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show! Candice and True North producer Harrison Faulkner discuss the worst examples of fake news in the legacy media this week. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Trudeau and Singh should be shaking in their boots over Conservative membership numbers

The membership cutoff for the Conservative leadership race came and went last Friday, and the numbers are staggering. The party has announced that over 600,000 Canadians are now members of the party and eligible to vote in the upcoming leadership race in September. Front-runner Pierre Poilievre’s campaign claims that over half of those – 311,958 – were purchased on his campaign website. These numbers are unprecedented in Canadian history. For comparison, 174,404 Canadians voted in the 2020 CPC leadership race. In the 2017 CPC leadership race, 141,000 Canadians voted. And, the last time the Liberals held a leadership race – in 2013 when they selected Justin Trudeau – 104,552 Canadians voted. At the time, the media were celebrating Trudeau’s ability to recruit members and giddily invoking “Trudeau-mania.” On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by pollster Hamish Marshall to break down the numbers, cut through the media spin and talk about how this is very, very bad news for the Liberal-NDP coalition government.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. How brave Canadians changed history on D-Day (ft. D-Day veteran Jim Parks)

On June 6th, 1944, 14,000 Canadian soldiers would take part in one of Canada’s most impressive – and consequential – military operations – D-Day. Canadian soldiers from 4 regiments – the Queen’s Own Rifles in Toronto, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles of Manitoba, the North Shore Regiment from New Brunswick and the Regina Rifles from Saskatchewan – would form the 3rd Canadian Infantry Battalion tasked with securing Juno Beach in Normandy, France for the Allies. 359 Canadian men made the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for freedom on that day, and many more Canadians would die in battle in the following months of intense fighting. One man managed to survive it all — Mr. Jim Parks of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. Mr. Jim Parks was part of the very first wave of Canadians to land on Juno Beach, having had to swim ashore without a rifle after his landing vehicle exploded. Parks and his fellow soldiers would successfully take Juno Beach and push the Germans back through Normandy having to face multiple waves of German counterattacks. Parks would play a key role in the liberation of the Netherlands and eventually find himself in Germany, having successfully pushed the Germans back all the way from the Western coast of France into total defeat by the war’s end. On this special episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Jim Parks – a true Canadian hero – tells his story. Jim discusses what it was like to land on Juno Beach, the details of the fighting that would ensue after the landings and what it was like to return home and settle down into normal life. Jim ends the podcast with a special message to young Canadians. Legacy media promotes leftist protesters while smearing conservative ones

The legacy media has a double standard when it comes to covering protests in Canada. According to the media, protesters on the political right are “angry and racist” but protesters on the left are righteous and worthy of interviews. Plus, a recent protest in Brampton debunks the media’s fake and dishonest narrative of “angry and racist” protests targeting leftist politicians. Plus, a Liberal MP delivers a speech in the House of Commons celebrating “vaginas and vulvas,” but doesn’t say “woman” once in her entire grotesque speech. But this isn’t the first time the Trudeau government has failed to define what a woman is. And amid alarming stats that Canada’s fertility rate is declining, the legacy media celebrates and claims “it’s better for the society and the planet.” It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show! Candice and True North producer Harrison Faulkner discuss this week’s worst examples of fake news in the legacy media.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Trudeau’s Wokest Week (Ft. Andrew Lawton)

It’s only Thursday, but this has been Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wokest week ever. Trudeau began the week by imposing a sweeping ban on handguns in Canada, which specifically targets law-abiding firearms owners. The next day, the Trudeau government decriminalized the possession of heroin, fentanyl and other hard drugs in British Columbia. Finally, Trudeau extended Covid travel restrictions and refuses to acknowledge that the pandemic is over. On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by True North’s Andrew Lawton to discuss Trudeau’s extremely woke week. They also discuss whether decriminalization of hard drugs is the right approach to combat the drug crisis in Canada.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Covid has torn apart our social fabric (Feat. Dr. Matt Strauss)

Over the past two years, Canadians have suffered through some of the strictest lockdowns in North America. While some restrictions have been lifted, many Canadians are trapped in Covid purgatory. Unvaccinated Canadians aren’t able to board a plane or a train, many have lost their livelihood and the federal government refuses to lift travel mandates that have caused chaos at Canada’s airports. While Canadians continue to feel the chilling effects of heavy-handed government measures, the elites remain maddeningly out of touch with the concerns and anxieties of Canadians. How did we get here? What can be done to rebuild our civil society? On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm show, Candice is joined by Dr. Matt Strauss, the acting Medical Officer of Health for the Haldimand-Norfolk region in Ontario. Candice and Dr. Strauss discuss the unreported stories of the pandemic in Canada, the unintended consequences of the government’s lockdowns and pushing back against the lockdown authoritarians.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
