Soooo LA with Benji Aflalo
Hey Idiots! This week I'm joined by my friend Benji Aflalo to talk about what it's like growing up in Beverly Hills!Benji was the first person to ever bring me on stage at The Comedy Store potluck open mic back when he was a door guy and now he's the star of his own television show, Alone Together! (Also, starring the hilarious Esther Povitsky!) We talk all about his childhood and how awkward it is to get into entertainment when you grew up surrounded by it. We get nostalgic about childhood stuff and the huge difference between our parents and lives. And despite those differences we are both ginormous fans of Springsteen and Fred McGriff! (Should they run for president together??)It's a fun conversation and a nice little sneak peek at Benji's personality which you can enjoy more of every Wednesday at 8:30 on Freeform! A Very Baron New Year with Baron Vaughn
Happy New Year, Idiots! I'm kicking off the New Year with an awesome guest: Baron Vaughn! (Grace & Frankie, MST3K, Corporate) Baron is an incredible comedian and actor, but more than that, he's a super awesome person with an amazing mind! We talk about lots of stuff on this episode including Baron's life as a new dad, comedy, being empaths and how growing up with addicts gave us a false self-perception we're working on overcoming. Neither of us have hometown pride and we discuss our bad habits in past relationship patterns. Look, it's just a lot of good talking on this special New Year's edition. I COULDN'T SETTLE ON A SINGLE TOPIC, SO SUE ME! (Please don't, the student loans have already.) There are a lot of funny moments coupled with several really interesting little truth gems about how life shapes you and you (hopefully) learn to adjust.Subscribe, rate and review the podcast from the iTunes podcast app!Follow Baron Vaughn on Twitter!Follow Baron Vaughn on Instagram! Pony and The Charlies - A Vietnam Veteran's Tale
This week I sit down with a close family friend, Pony, AKA John Connerton of the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (known as "The Magnificent Bastards!") and we discuss his time serving in the Vietnam War and how it affected him. We talk everything from Purple Hearts, to the treatment of returning soldiers, PTSD and having to go off the grid for nearly a decade after the war. It's an interesting look at going to war from the perspective of someone who enlisted to serve his country, and how that affected him and his entire life moving forward. There isn't too heavy of specifics on dates and battles but it's a cool look at the emotional effects of war from a first person perspective. There is No God with Emery Emery
I'm joined this week by the ever enthusiastic, Emery Emery. Emery is the host of two podcasts: "Skeptically Yours" (along with the lovely Heather Henderson), and "Ardent Atheists".Emery and I have been friends for a few years and I've been a guest on both of his podcasts in the past. Emery is a passionate Atheist. Being my hippie, spiritual self, there have certainly been times we don't firmly agree on things. However, what I love about Emery is that he is always open to discussion on those topics. We can give each other shit about our ideas but still be friends and share our differing perspectives and learn from one another (or just disagree and move on.)This episode is all about atheism, although we do go on some random tangents about other important topics as you'll see. Or hear rather. I hope you enjoy it! As always, feedback is welcome! Thanks for putting up with my irregular releasing. My schedule is a bit hectic right now but I promise I haven't forgotten all my fellow idiots :)Subscribe to Ignorance is #BlessedFollow Emery on Twitter! Discovering Who You Are When You're Adopted with Alyssa Yeoman
Hey Idiots! This week I have my long time friend Alyssa Yeoman as my guest. We sat on the bench for our state championship hockey team and now we are both stand up comedians! She featured for me all weekend in Seattle and we had an awesome time! We talk about her family dynamic as a woman who was adopted by a white mom and black dad, how that has affected her self-identity and we get into comedy talk a little, as well. This episode was a ton of fun and we had lots of laughs.
