Infrastructure Vote Delayed

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spent today making a plea to democratic caucus members to pass Biden’s “Build Back Better” framework but with too many down votes for the bill to pass a formal vote has been delayed. Currently, the bill includes billions for home care, extensions for child tax credit, two years free pre-K, and $500+ billion in clean energy incentives. Biden noted nobody got everything they wanted, including him, as he leaves for the G20 summit in Rome.  A criminal complaint alleging a sex crime has been filed against former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The misdemeanor charge in connection with the complaint dates back to an incident at the governors mansion on December 7, 2020. Cuomo has repeatedly denied the allegation of sexual misconduct against him, allowing that he made mistakes, but always insisting that the more serious accusations were untrue. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Criminal Charges Not Ruled Out In Deadly “Rust” Movie Shooting

The assistant director on “Rust” who handed Alec Baldwin the gun that shot Halyna Hutchins did not check all the live rounds according to an affidavit. The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office believes there were other suspected live rounds present that day, too. The District Attorney says “all options are on the table at this point” with regards to criminal charges as the investigation remains ongoing.  Key elements of Biden’s infrastructure and climate bill are likely to be removed including free tuition for community college, marginal tax rate increases, and paid family and medical leave. Democrats face clear urgency as they try to reach consensus before Biden's trip to the United Nations.     To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Democratic Discord Over Biden’s Build Back Better

Democratic members of congress have yet to reach an agreement on key elements of Biden’s $1.72 trillion economic and climate package. Senator Elizabeth Warren is advocating for increased taxes on the wealthy while Senator Kyrsten Sinema is opposed. Senator Bernie Sanders says expanding Medicaid and Medicare is a must while Senator Joe Manchin disagrees. Can democrats reach consensus? Vaccine advisers to the FDA voted 17-0 to recommend emergency use authorization of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine in children ages 5-11.  Does this mean kids are now able to return to pre-pandemic life safely?   To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Biden Economic Plan: Progressive Promises In Limbo

On the heels of President Biden’s CNN town hall, Nancy Pelosi has vowed that democrats will make a deal to pass Biden’s sweeping economic agenda. Provisions in the bill are up for debate as democratic senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema have pushed back on progressive items such as tax hikes on corporations and free community college.    Alec Baldwin says he is “fully cooperating with police” after a prop firearm discharged on the set of his new movie “Rust” killing the film’s director of photography and injuring the director. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation “remains open and active.”To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Congress Finds Bannon In Contempt

The House just passed a referral finding Steve Bannon, an ally of Trump, in criminal contempt. Next, the referral will be transmitted to the Department of Justice where they will determine if Bannon should be criminally charged.  The FBI has confirmed via dental records that the human remains discovered at a state park in Florida belong to Brian Laundrie. A “possibly salvageable” notebook also found at the reserve may hold clues into what happened to Gabby Petito. President Biden is set to speak with voters during a CNN town hall in Baltimore, where he'll take questions as his administration works to sell his legislative agenda to members of Congress and the nation. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Texas Congressional Power Play

The battle for voting rights continues in Texas as the state adds two new congressional seats and redraws its congressional maps. Civil rights groups and democratic state lawmakers say the new congressional maps were drawn to dilute the vote of residents of color giving white and likely republican candidates an advantage. Meanwhile Texas republicans say the maps were drawn “blind to race.” Senate Republicans on Wednesday filibustered a bill which would have overhauled how congressional districts are drawn.  The FBI believes it has recovered items belonging to Brian Laundrie as well as human remains in a Florida state park. Family of Laundrie are yet to comment as they await forensic identification of the found remains. The discovery comes 37 days after Laundrie, the fiancé of Gabby Petito, was reportedly last seen by his parents.  To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Bannon Closer To Criminal Contempt

Members of the House Select Committee of January 6th have unanimously decided to recommend that the full House find former Trump associate Steve Bannon in contempt of congress for failing to appear. Democratic Rep. Elaine Luria, who serves on the House committee, says Congress “will use all of the tools that [it has] in order to enforce a law and to receive [Bannon’s] testimony.” If the house succeeds in voting to hold Bannon in contempt, the Justice Department will then decide whether to pursue charges. The House committee’s opening statements and vote are included in tonight’s show.To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Trump Asks Court To Halt January 6 Committee
