Episode #11: A Psychotherapist's Perspective on Men's Emotional Health
In this solo episode, I explore the nuances of male emotion, drawing on my personal experiences as well as the insights I've gleaned from my professional practice. I examine the biological and cultural factors that shape the male psyche, and why respecting each individual's unique emotional needs is crucial for fostering healthy, fulfilling relationships. As a psychotherapist who's spent over two decades working with male clients, I've witnessed firsthand the growing confusion and pressure that men face when it comes to emotional expression. In today's rapidly evolving social landscape, the expectations placed on men to be simultaneously stoic and sensitive have become increasingly complex and, at times, even contradictory. Get ready for an unflinching look at the challenges that men navigate, from the boardroom to the home front. Through empathy and understanding, we'll work to dismantle harmful stereotypes and empower men to proudly embrace the full spectrum of their feelings. After all, true strength lies not in the suppression of emotion, but in the courage to acknowledge it. Episode #7: Work-Life Balance Is Unachievable - Here is what you need to do instead
In this episode I discuss how striving to maintain balance between your work and personal life at any given time is essentially impossible. Instead, you need to see these two entities as being in a constant flux, and you need to respect that our world is constantly changing. There will be times where you are required more in one area of your life than another. It becomes easier when you realize there is no such thing as good or bad, right or wrong. Nothing is so black and white regarding individual personalities, values, and beliefs. What always does work, however, is when you simplify the situation using a feeling state called ‘compassion’. If you incorporate compassion into the golden rule, everyone wins in business and in life.
