Rights To Ricky Sanchez: The Sixers Podcast

There is no theoretical physicist, acclaimed writer, or audiobook on this week's Ricky, just some riffing about the Sixers. We talk about Bryan Colangelo's appearance on The Vertical Podcast, the opening of the new practice facility, NBA2K 17, the 20 man roster, Vegas' over/under for the team, and Joel Embiid's upcoming debut. We also discuss Sam Hinkie's follows on Twitter. 

It's been two weeks, so we have a lot to talk about. Also, it's the offseason, so we're committed to doing something pretty different or absurd in each podcast. First, we discuss Sam Hinkie's Twitter awakening, Allen Iverson's Hall Of Fame speech, Brett Brown's press lunch, the return of Elton Brand, and the various Embiid media of the week.  Then, we provide you with something incredible and ridiculous. We've recorded and put together an audiobook of Sam Hinkie's resignation letter. Our offseason of intelligence soldiers on with Philadelphia native and Caltech Theoretical Physicist Sean Carroll. We talk about what he thought of Hinkie's departure, Noel vs. Okafor, and what it's like to be a theoretical physicist AND a Sixers fan. We also talk about the multiverse, his new book The Big Picture, and whether or not we're living in a simulation. 

Hey, Spike here, I'm writing the intro to this one.  I've long said that Chuck Klosterman writes like I would want to write if I was smarter. He's my favorite writer of all time. We were lucky enough to have Chuck on the podcast for an hour (!!) to talk about the Sixers, The Process, Sam Hinkie, Chip Kelly, and of course his new, awesome book, 'What If We're Wrong? Thinking About The Present As If It Were The Past.'

Many people ask us, "when are you going to get over it," and the answer is always "never!" At the very least, it's "not yet." Because it's August and there's not much else to discuss, on today's Ricky we grade every single transaction of the Sam Hinkie era of Sixers basketball. We also briefly discuss the reported delay in the construction of the new practice facility. 

  We're so sorry, we were off, but it was Spike's fault.     We return with thoughts on Dario and Sergio in the Olympics, the Sixers schedule, Mike Weber asking the president about the Sixers, and a brand new relationship advice and Jigsaw. 

It's undoubtedly the offseason. Not the "draft, summer league" sort of offseason, but the "check in on Eagles training camp, talk even more about Jahlil Okafor, celebrate the signing of Dion Waiters, discuss the change in the Analytics Department, and do an extended relationship advice" sort of offseason. Somehow, some way, Joel Embiid has managed to do things over the last two years to keep us hopeful and excited, even when he hasn't been able to play a game for the team. This week was no different. We talk about Embiid's new practice dunk video, and his social media tribute to Sam Hinkie. We also discuss the remaining available free agents, the signing of Cat Barber, the return of Relationship Advice, and Jerry Colangelo's friend at The Undefeated.

Dario Saric is officially a Sixer. We talk about what it means, and gloat in the glow of Sam Hinkie. Also, farewell to forever Sixer Chu Chu Maduabum. Also, a tearful goodbye to Christian Wood, some long-promised hot takes on Adnan Syed's recent court victory, wrapping up Summer League, what not to do at the movies, and talk of an off-season return of "Relationship Advice."

Ben Simmons is really, actually a Sixer. Look at him dropping dimes and refusing to shoot. He's everything we hoped for. We talk about Simmons' performance, the 'rise' of Christian Wood, TJ McConnell's haircut, and that guy on the Sixers who looks like he's an accountant.
