Rights To Ricky Sanchez: The Sixers Podcast

It took long enough, but all's well that ends well. Bryan Colangelo resigned from his position as President and General Manager of the Sixers after an 'investigation' proved that his wife tweeted team secrets on several different Twitter accounts. Colangelo continues to deny he knew anything about the accounts. Weird! This one's a victory lap. 

Somehow we're in the ninth day of this, and the only people who don't know that the right move is to move on from Bryan Colangelo is the Sixers themselves. We try to keep our sanity, discuss what could be causing the delay, and decide what happens if they don't fire him. 

We are in the fifth day of the Bryan Colangelo Twitter fiasco, with no communication from the team. We discuss how we think the situation should and will progress, the guy in San Francisco with the t-shirts, the reports and speculation, and The Americans finale.  We've got a new shirt. Get it here.  We'd like to be clear that this was our (Spike's) idea, and Tanner Lowry's design, and Ben Detrick did not have anything to do with its creation or promotion.  We told Ben about it, and of course he thinks it's hilarious.   

At one time, long, long ago, the Markelle Fultz story was the weirdest one in the history of the Sixers. Not anymore! Thanks to Ben Detrick and The Ringer, Bryan Colangelo's (supposed) burner Twitter accounts is definitely the weirdest. This might be our post anticipated podcast of all time.

Today's podcast is admittedly pretty meta! We discuss Sam Hinkie's appearance on the Invest Like The Best podcast, including his long view approach to marriage and asset management approach to children, JJ Redick's appearance on a Ringer podcast of a banned personality, Joel Embiid's appearance on a Philadelphia playground to dunk on a regular guy as well as his appearance on the All-NBA Second Team. We also discuss Run The Jewels' decision to favor the Ricky over the Super Bowl. Thanks to local singer Felicia Ricci,who recorded the video of Embiid dunking on some guy, for coming on and telling us about seeing it and her run-in with Meek Mill while getting a manicure.  We announced on the podcast that this year's Lottery Party raised $18,100 for Justice Rescueand the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Thanks for your part in this!

We celebrate Robert Covington's selection to the NBA All-Defense team, and Joel Embiid's second team selection. We dig deep into the Lorzenzo Brown mailbag to discuss some galaxy brain draft analysis, non-premier free-agent targets, and a listener upset with a non-ban. There's also the return of the Jigsaw. 

Ah, the offseason. It feels like home, doesn't it? We talk about the respective futures of the Sixers and the Celtics, start to look toward the draft and free agency, discuss perspective trades for Kawhi Leonard, and recap the Lottery Party. We also include Eliza Hardy Jones' "Imagine The Process."

Look, is this the most coherent, technically sound Ricky you're ever going to hear? The answer is no. There's a lot of yelling and craziness but it's fun to relive if you went, and to hear and actual wedding take place on our podcast. And the guest lineup is pretty crazy, it's like we're a big deal! The 2017-18 Sixers exceeded the expectations of anyone who isn't a maniac or perhaps a parent of one of the players. We go back and talk about the things and players that surprised and disappointed us most. We hand out the annual Ricky Awards as well; everyone is eagerly anticipating who will win TJ McConnell of The Year. And we pivot to the offseason, as If Not, Pick Will Convey As Two Seconds writer and star Andrew Unterberger joins us to discuss his piece about this summer being the best ever.  The Lottery Party is TUESDAY, Robert Covington WILL be attending, Pablo Torre WILL be marrying Lauren and Zeke, and the event IS sold out, and we'll be releasing a podcast on Monday about the party.
