The New Grad Physio Podcast: 'Diagnosing Lower Back Pain'
Do you sometimes fear that you might do more harm than good with the patients you see with lower back pain?
This worry is common but results in many therapists applying a very conservative rehab plan, sometimes even prescribing ‘rest’.
But this approach is usually not the best way and often leads to poor patient progress and results.
You need to be mindful of serious pathology and use your RED FLAG questioning to screen all patients with lower back pain.
However, you also need to know that most patients need and will benefit from your hands-on treatments and the rehab you prescribe.
This podcast will help you gain more confidence in diagnosing and treating lower back pain.
After listening you will better understand the anatomy and movements of the lower back, learn an easy way to simplify your lumbar spine assessment and learn why trying to fix ‘posture’ might not be the best rehab strategy.
Enjoy the show!
