79 - Why Science Needs Jesus
Next time someone tells you that your faith in Christ is unscientific, or that, while you may be a person of faith, he is personally a man of science, you’ll know what to say. Joel Settecase gives a powerful (because biblical) refutation of this trope that Christianity is unscientific by demonstrating the absolute necessity of biblical truth as a precondition for math and logic, uniformity in nature, and the reliability of the human mind... and how this all inevitably leads to Jesus Christ. Joel shares the script from A recent talk to gave for students of the Illinois Institute of Technology.

78 - Does the Great Commission Specifically Require Evangelism? (an Exposition of Matthew 28:18-20).
It’s been said that modern problems require modern solutions. But for this problem, we’re going to tap into a resource that has been tried and true for nearly two thousand years. I’m talking about the Great Commission. And it’s all about making disciples. But I’m here to talk to you about evangelism. The question is, “What is the connection between evangelism and disciple making? Does the Great Commission specifically require evangelism Is it possible for your church to be a disciplemaking church without being an evangelistic one? What I want to show you is that... “Without Evangelism, there is no Great Commission.”

76 - Does God Care How We Educate Our Kids? (Scripture Speaks)
While Christians approach the subject of education from different perspectives and come to diverse conclusions, the Bible does present clear answers to questions like whose responsibility it is, what the curricula should center around, and the desired effects and goal of education.

75 - No, Christianity Is Not An Impractical Leap Of Faith
In this special “thinking on the road” episode, Joel responds to the objection that he received from a new friend on the airplane, namely that Christian belief is an unnecessary leap of faith, and it makes more sense to just live for “what works.”

73 - Definitive Guide: Christian Epistemology
Reason, science and intuition are invaluable truth-seeking faculties, but each one is insufficient on its own. We need a unifying principle tying them all together and giving us epistemological warrant for using all three. Moreover, we need a basis for trusting them in the first place. Scripture provides that unity and basis.

Joel & Parker Settecase begin their outrageous (and yet very informative) conversation on this perplexing subject. Is God outside time? Is God inside time? And what does that mean?

71 - Mind-Blowing Evidence to Enhance Your Confidence in Christianity, with J. Warner Wallace
Whether you're a believer or a skeptic, this episode is not to be missed!
What evidence is there that Christianity is true? As it turns out, quite. a. lot.
Discovering the evidence for Christianity (and again, there is a lot of it) can have a profound impact on the confidence of believers. How many of us have had our belief strengthened by learning, for example, that archaeology corroborates the accounts of the Bible, or that the universe is unbelievably fine-tuned to support human life?
And while only God can change a sinner’s heart and mind, he is free to use (and frequently does use) the abundant evidence that exists as part of the process of bringing someone to saving faith. It was true for C. S. Lewis, and it was true in the personal testimony of my guest in this episode, J. Warner (“Jim”) Wallace.
In this amazing interview, Jim explains why the early dating of the Gospels and Acts are so important for demonstrating the reliability of their accounts, and therefore for the reliability of the Christian message.
Jim also gives epic advice on how to respond when someone objects that, “Sure, maybe Jesus rose from the dead, but that doesn’t mean he’s God,” as well as, “That may be your truth, but I have my truth” (an appeal to subjectivity).

70 - Beginners' Guide: Christian Metaphysics
Subscribe to the Think Podcast (And Please Leave A Review): link.chtbl.com/thinkpodcast
What is really real?
Socrates famously once said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” And it’s certainly true that life is more interesting when we take the time to stop and ponder interesting ideas and questions.
The study of what is really real is called metaphysics. Metaphysics deals with the reality behind the reality that we see. The metaphysical explains (accounts for) the physical. As an analogy, think about your smartphone. What you see on the screen is not the whole story. There is advanced circuitry and a whole network behind that screen. That is like the metaphysical behind the physical.
According to recent research, In America, only about 5% of people hold a fully-consistent biblical worldview. If you are a Christian, this means that many of the people in your life are answering life’s most basic questions differently than you are. And that assumes that you yourself are operating out of a completely biblical worldview. So… are you? The way you think about metaphysics can help you answer that question.
