Well, it’s the last of our trilogy of episodes discussing David’s recent work trips to London. And it’s turned out to be a right roller coster of emotions as this morning he’s feeling very upbeat about the city and making the most of being there. So much so that yesterday afternoon he took the opportunity to visit his agent, killed time by looking into lots of restaurant windows and almost treated himself to a cocktail in his hotel bar. Then to end the day, he really enjoyed watching Take That's Circus tour in his room - and is now wondering if he and Joe might be able to become their fiends? After yesterday’s recounting of his previous trip, David is swiftly back up in his London hotel room and feeling all discombobulated again. With a very eventful train journey there, including an encounter with a 60 year old weed-smoker, he and Joe are keen to pick up on their conversation about his awkwardness with leaving home and having to spend time in a big city. David’s doing a few days work a week in London at the moment, so he use today’s episode to tell Joe how it’s been going. As it involves leaving his comfort zone (in more ways than one), each week the trip starts off with an anxious train journey from Totness to Paddington station. And his feelings of awkwardness continue throughout the two days, all the way up to the relief-filled train ride home. It turns out that Joe has similar feelings when he stays away for work, so they decide to continue the discussion next time and turn it into a two-parter. This week’s Mailbag show starts off normal enough - but then David reads a confusing quipping email from their Cockfields co-star, Ben Rufus Green. The other day, Joe found himself stood up in a cafe in London chatting with three other celebrities - which made him feel very self-conscious indeed. So obviously he and David use today’s episode to dissect the whole incident and analyse Joe’s awkward feelings about it. Amongst other revelations, it turns out Joe felt like ‘that Primrose Hill lot in the 90’s’ - who he was a little jealous of at the time. So, plenty there for David to wind Joe up about then. Joe wants to come up with a new section idea for the pod and has been inspired by a word he learn recently - dopplebangers. It’s a term used for couples who look like each other and he’s wondering if there any other new phrases that the listeners could tell them about. And also if they invent any with partners to describe a particular idiosyncrasy. David’s not convinced that but asks Chat GPT to come up with a name for the new show - and then puts a request out on Patreon to see what response they get.
