A three-time James Beard Award nominee, Katie honed her craft in the kitchens of some of the world's best chefs, most notably Ferran Adrià and José Andrés, before venturing out to open her own restaurant. In the years since, she’s received numerous accolades, including Food & Wine's 2015 Best New Chefs; Cúrate as one of Food & Wine’s "40 Most Important Restaurants of the Past 40 Years," and one of Esquire’s "Most Important Restaurants of the Decade." In 2016, she released her first cookbook, Cúrate: Authentic Spanish Food from an American Kitchen, and in 2019, debuted Asheville’s culinary festival Chow Chow as board president. Through it all, Katie continues to challenge the industry standard, building comprehensive benefits to create a sustainable work environment for her living wage-certified restaurant group. Following, Shari gives her recap of the 19th annual Food Network and Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One, which took place February 19-23, 2020 in South Beach, Florida. Gabriel Stulman, Happy Cooking Hospitality

Melissa Ben-Ishay, Baked by Melissa
