It’s headline time again, another attempt to make sense of a lot of nonsense, at least from a worldly perspective. But eternally speaking, there is more sense to it all than you might think. Today we talk about the spiritual aspect of the wildfire disaster and what some Christians think is a helpful spin but it is not. Speaking for God on any given thing is above our pay grade but that doesn’t stop people from doing it anyway. We also talk about Greenland, and how this appears to be nonsense as well, but it isn’t. Still paying attention to events, or have you bailed out of sheer exhaustion? Understandable, but there is a price to paying attention and being able to tell others what is going on, and why it matters. There is a price tag on everything the Bible calls important so we will talk invoices and costs, counting and cutting our losses. Finally, those blood moons are back in 2025. Who will get sucked into that scheme, I wonder? I hope we learned a lesson in 2015. We shall see. Authority of Tradition & the Magisterium Catechism (CCC 80-82, 85): Catholicism teaches that divine revelation comes from both Scripture and Tradition, and that the Church’s Magisterium (Pope and bishops) has the authority to interpret both. Biblical Challenge: Protestants argue that the Bible alone is the final authority (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthew 15:3-9) and reject extra-biblical traditions as authoritative. 2. The Role of Mary Catechism (CCC 491, 494, 966, 971, 2677): Catholicism teaches that Mary was immaculately conceived (without sin), remained perpetually a virgin, was assumed bodily into heaven, and can intercede for believers. Biblical Challenge: The Bible states that “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23), never explicitly teaches Mary’s perpetual virginity (Matthew 1:24-25), and does not mention her bodily assumption. Additionally, Christ is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). 3. Salvation by Grace & Works Catechism (CCC 1987-2029): Catholic doctrine teaches that salvation is initially by grace but involves cooperation with God through faith, works, and the sacraments. Biblical Challenge: Many Protestants cite Ephesians 2:8-9, which states salvation is “by grace… through faith, not by works.” Romans 4:5 and Galatians 2:16 emphasize justification apart from the law. 4. The Sacraments as Necessary for Salvation Catechism (CCC 1129, 1257): The Catholic Church teaches that the sacraments (such as baptism and the Eucharist) are necessary for salvation. Biblical Challenge: While baptism and communion are important, the Bible presents salvation as a matter of faith in Christ (John 3:16; Acts 16:31). The thief on the cross was saved without sacraments (Luke 23:42-43). 5. Purgatory & Prayers for the Dead Catechism (CCC 1030-1032, 1472): Catholicism teaches that purgatory is a place of purification before entering heaven and that prayers for the dead can help souls be freed from temporal punishment. Biblical Challenge: The Bible does not explicitly teach purgatory. Hebrews 9:27 states that after death comes judgment, with no mention of an intermediate purification. Christ’s sacrifice is sufficient (John 19:30, Hebrews 10:14). 6. The Papacy & Apostolic Succession Catechism (CCC 882, 936-937): The Pope is seen as the successor of Peter and the supreme authority over the Church. Biblical Challenge: While Peter was a leader, the Bible does not establish a single, infallible ruler over the Church (Matthew 23:8-10). Christ is the true head (Colossians 1:18), and leadership is shared among elders (1 Peter 5:1-3). 7. The Eucharist (Transubstantiation) Catechism (CCC 1374-1377): Catholicism teaches that during the Mass, the bread and wine become the literal body and blood of Christ. Biblical Challenge: Jesus spoke metaphorically about being the bread of life (John 6:35), and at the Last Supper, He often used figurative language (Luke 22:19-20). Many believe the Lord’s Supper is symbolic (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). These points are the main areas where the Catechism is often challenged by those who adhere strictly to the Bible.

Today, Scott Schara gives an update on the wrongful death civil lawsuit (2023-CV-345) for his daughter, Grace.  Grace was 19 and had Down Syndrome.  She was medically murdered by medical staff at an Ascension Hospital.  The doctors ordered a medication combination that euthanized Grace – Precedex, Lorazepam, and Morphine; and put an illegal Do Not Resuscitate order on her chart. Scott is now releasing deposition transcripts and we discuss two clips today.  Scott also shares some of the highlights of his research into the medical-industrial complex. It’s all about an audience, as so much of evangelicalism is today.  And because reducing the faith to silly symbolism, promises of secret knowledge or experiences, or even date-setting appeals to the marginal and those who feel marginalized or in need of attention in their corner of the faith. Today’s system that seems to be held together with duct tape reminds me of the children’s nursery rhyme that says, “when the bough breaks…” – and then spells out the end quite clearly. Considering that the economy now global impacts us all on earth, what might 2025 bring? The last couple years have seen threats of bank closures and the cancelling of accounts of those the globalists don’t like, namely, conservatives and Christians. Alarming enough, but there is so much more going on, in particular the over-valuation of the stock market. We will rely on Britt to help us sort that out, along with the real estate market, Asian economics and their stock markets, and how AI will affect the economy in the next several years. According to the IMF, AI is a game changer for labor in particular, but also how considerable funds will be poured into the global markets from everything tech. A complex subject made easier by Britt Gillette, because while most of us rely on our pocketbook to tell us things have gone haywire, we can also rely on people with his expertise to help us dig deeper. In our first headline podcast of the new year, Mary takes a look at 2024 and Tech. While the biggest headline from a humanitarian and prophetic perspective was the Middle East, today we look at something driving almost everything behind the scenes: technology.  The conflict between consumers of tech and the Geek Planet that drags us there maintains a constant tension; we have willingly given up any notion of privacy for the convenience of our gadgets and we pay for it willingly as well. So what do we expect? Well, we can expect 2025 to go further and further down the rabbit hole with things that are both amazing and existentially frightening. We look at some epic fails of 2024 and some of the current headlines. How far will it go before it outpaces Revelation 13? Mary welcomes back Kyle Peart and Flynn Huseby of Once Lost Ministries to discuss a foundational Bible topic: sound doctrine. What is it? Why is it so important? If doctrine is simply defined as instruction, and in the last days Paul tells us that people will have no taste for it (“will not endure…”) then what does that say about the church in these times? That church-goers will not be teachable. And that is very true unfortunately; deriding doctrine is the skill of cults and false systems. Sad to say, if a person believes they are in the faith but refuses the truth of non-negotiable doctrine, there is no good news for them. We will talk about the divisive nature of truth as found in doctrine, and we also look at doctrines of devils; also how sound doctrine unites true believers.
