As much as it can be the carrier of condemnation, it doesn’t necessarily need to bring on waves of guilt. Perhaps God has something for us in those hours. The dark night of the soul is something many believers suffer through but due to lack of understanding of deep trials, believers often attempt to grab the bull by the horns and make it stop. It might not be that simple, in light of the means and ends of suffering we all go through. Who are some of the famous doubters in the Bible, and what was Jesus’ response? Why do the youth deconstruct and consider their doubts a badge of honor? In this installment of Stand Up, we explore the archaeological evidence for the Exodus with Creationist Brian Young of the Creation Instruction Association. If you are a student of the Bible and believe it is the Word of God from beginning to end, you might not ever have asked this question over, say, a 7 day creation issue or any other hot topic in the church today. If you ask scholars, or even just generative Ai, you will get the answer that it is a myth and it doesn’t matter because, well, what a great story! But this approach is largely secular – and dangerous. Because history, and especially biblically archaeological history is so exhilarating, we should welcome any evidence that all those people who lived so long ago were part of one of the great events in Israel’s history, and it speaks of a God who tells us exactly what He wants us to know for His good purposes. Given that Israel had grown to represent a fairly large number over the 430 years, evidence of their lives should be available in one form or another. Dr. Blevins has extensive knowledge about the cults, the religions who have the “wrong Jesus”.  The late Dr. Walter Martin said, “When people say, ‘I believe in Jesus’, look them straight in the eye and ask, ‘which one?’ Often if you do ask that, prepare yourself for a blank stare! The reason for that is that people really do think they are free to remake Jesus in their own image, according to their eternal comfort zone. Be ready to be challenged –  to be ready to give an answer for your hope.

Even though the carnal mind might view them as contradictions, what is really in view is the comparison between what we might think the Kingdom of God is, verses the reality that has the power to destroy the loftiest goals or ideals that man might have and bring to their reading of the Bible. What is a paradox? What are some examples? How do they help renew our minds, have a solid biblical worldview, challenge our thinking daily? Paradoxes are powerful, and we must learn to live in the tension they present to understand the Kingdom of God. Well, at least on paper, some of that American spirit is back, and Trump has done the unimaginable. We look at some of the headlines and executive orders that have brought us to a new path. Then we switch gears and look at what that means for the prophetic landscape. We finish up by talking about the fear of the Lord, His holiness, and the eternal value of pressing on in Jesus regardless of the Great Ship of American Destiny. A new golden age? Dave calls it the “journey of a lifetime” not only because our trials and difficulties can be lifelong but because God is working a great weight of glory in each of His children. What would life be like if every trial we experienced came with it lasting peace and joy? As foreign or even impossible as that may sound to us today, we are being sanctified and renewed day by day, but conditionally –  if we can learn to wait, trust, and take every thought captive. Piece of cake, right? Maybe not that simple, but very achievable by the power of the Holy Spirit. In such a malcontent world, this is a timely discussion for those going through the ups and downs of life that may included anxiety, depression, and the pitfalls of being human. Mary welcomes back author, apologist and Israel expert Jim Fletcher today for a timely chat about the recent deal for the Israeli hostages. Some say it’s about time, we must get them back. Others say it is extortion, since the face of terrorism is not going to change in Israel regardless. The Gazans were dancing in the streets; was it because peace was finally coming, or was it about the hope of a continuation of struggles for their cause on an increasing level?  There are those who say never negotiate with terrorists, and yet are we placing their lives and cause before the innocent civilian? A moral dilemma for our time – and for this location that seems to play by different rules and on so many stages. We also chat about the Pope’s complete lack of understanding about Israel, and the latest poll that says half of the world is antisemitic on some level. Jim is uniquely articulate about Israel.
