Strengthen Grip, Low Back, Legs, Core and Shoulders with One Exercise - PHYSICAL FRIDAY #59
A viewer asked what exercise I would pick for overall conditioning for outdoor activities if I could only pick one. Thankfully I don’t have to pick only one because I don’t believe that one exercise is perfect for every situation. However, I can pretend for today’s show. While I don’t think that one exercise is perfect, I think that the Kettlebell Swing is about as close to perfect as I have found. This episode is brought to you by these great sponsors:Barracuda Tackle - Makers of the best cast nets on the market BarracudaTackle.comGet 30% off any order on Hukgear.com by using the code SE30 at checkoutGet 20% off + free shipping on products from Manscaped.com by using the code TRP at checkoutThis episode has been brought to you by Waypoint TV. Tom Rowland of Saltwater Experience asks Capt Scott Walker of Into the Blue about using Mapping chips. Scott uses C-Map Reveal with his Simrad NSS Evo 3 16" unit. Scott installs the chip, selects the map, and shows how he would use the chip to find inshore spots like coral heads or lobster spots. Scott explains and shows, step by step, how to get high-resolution bathymetric imagery displayed, and what he looks for in a productive swordfish spot. He shows how to find spots in 1500-1800 feet that would be productive swordfish areas. He goes over the menu and shows how to turn on and off features, use tracks, and switch between high-resolution bathymetric charts to standard charts.Watch the full video on YouTube HERE. April/May Challenge - 40 Day Wim Hof And 100 Day Burpee Challenge - #TRPFitnessChallenge #016
Combine the Wim Hof 40 day Quarantine Challenge with 100 days of Burpees and you have our April/May challenge. We are 34 days in. How are you doing? Want to join? Come in...it’s not too late. If you need further instructions please CLICK HERE for full description or read below:
We will do the 100 day Burpee challenge. This one is easy to explain. On April 1, drop and do 1 burpee. On April 2nd, do 2 burpees. Continue adding a burpee a day for 100 days.
We will also join in on the Wim Hof 40 Day Quarantine Challenge.
I have written about Wim Hof quite a bit here and have been doing the daily breathing for about 5 years. Notably, I have not been sick in any way since starting this protocol. Previous to starting, I had the flu every year for 3 years prior. I would also get occasional colds. Additionally, performance has improved, most notably in my burpees. I was not able to do 100 burpees in a row despite trying for many years. After about a month of daily breathing, I did 100 consecutive burpees and set an all-time PR. Nothing else was different in my schedule, diet, sleep, or training. The only thing I added was the breathing and cold water.Below, these are Wim Hof’s own instructions found on his website. You can choose to either listen to the guided instructions in the video above or follow the written instructions below.TRY IT OUT!Wim Hof Method breathing is simple and easy — everyone can do it! Just follow the steps below. We recommend practicing right after waking, or before a meal when your stomach is still empty. Note that WHM breathing can affect motor control and, in rare cases, lead to loss of consciousness. Always sit or lie down before practicing the techniques. Never practice while piloting a vehicle, or in or near bodies of water. If that is not enough info for you, you can watch a Vice documentary and more in the article about this challenge HERE. Poling A Skiff - Exercises To Build Strength And Reduce Overuse Injuries - PHYSICAL FRIDAY #58
Tell someone that fishing is a physical sport and you may get some funny looks. Fishing on the flats of the Florida Keys is quite a bit different than sitting under a shade tree with a bobber, worms, and a 6 pack. Poling a skiff is hard work. Often guides pole into the wind for hours at a time with 2 heavy dudes on the bow. Guys do this 100 days in a row or more during the season. It is like being a professional athlete. You are requiring performance out of your body to make a living…regardless of the sea conditions, wind speed, or weight of the boat. The guide’s job is to push the boat and find fish. Novice polers are overwhelmed by the strength and endurance requirements and fatigue midi day. Veterans have different problems. The repetitive movement of poling for years can lead to painful overuse injuries. I received a question about this asking me to do an entire episode on developing strength for poling so today we will go over the ways that strength can be developed and also go over ways to reduce the chance for overuse injuries. We go over technique, equipment, and exercises to build strength in the hands, forearms, and shoulders and I discuss how I rehabbed and conditioned my own achy shoulders to have full mobility and pain-free range of motion despite 20 + years of poling a boat professionally. Take your health and fitness into your own control and prolong your guide career by training as an athlete does. Certified Health Nut - Troy Casey - Reclaiming Manhood, Drinking Urine, Health and Being Ripped At 50 - #0121
Troy Casey is also known as Certified Health Nut. He was once a Versace Model who became more and more interested in how his body was working mostly for the sake of looking his best for his job. After some exposure to black mold, he has gone on a mission to reclaim his health using any means necessary. He’s worked with indigenous tribes in the Amazon as a medicine hunter, studied the ancient Vipassana Meditation technique Ashtanga Yoga, and worked closely with Paul Chek at the world-famous C.H.E.K. Institute. Through these methods of study as well as through other methods such as breathing techniques like Wim Hof Method, Ayahuasca, Qi Gong, barefoot walking, Ice baths and…yes…drinking his own urine, Troy has transformed his health to be the best of his life at the age of 54 years old. Troy used ayahuasca to help him to rekindle his relationship with his wife and also to see visions of his future. He has a grand vision for helping to creating a world with clean air, water, soil, and equitable systems for all mankind in his lifetime – something he believes is absolutely attainable. He recently wrote a book called Ripped at 50 which outlines his journey and allows others to see his path to health. This episode is brought to you by these great sponsors:Get 30% off any order on Hukgear.com by using the code SE30 at checkoutGet 20% off + free shipping on products from Manscaped.com by using the code TRP at checkoutThis episode has been brought to you by Waypoint TV.
